There's all sorts of debate on whether a panel filter needs a tune or would even make a difference. I had an 06 Legacy GT (EJ255). Not a WRX STI, but principal is similar enough. An AEM DryFlow filter needed a tune by some and others no. The car did record some weird numbers on a BtSsm ecu reader. I put a brand new OEM air filter in and the numbers calmed down. It's something I've just never tried again with my 16 Forester XT. Stock all the way just causes less possible issues.

No you do not. Even the Cobb tuner wont have anything for it. Once you get a intake you do. Hope this helps.

Have your tuner provide a base map for those specific parts so you can still drive your car around until your dyno appointment. An OTS map will most likely not account for all of the parts you listed.

Protune it. The ap is BS You will blow ur car up for sure. My car was reading all sorts of crazy numbers with it and whats another 500$ for tune Pennys when it comes to blown out ringland failure. K k

Octobersvo 6 catback exhausts don’t need a tune. What would need a tune is if you replace your J pipe/down pipe. If you only replace the catback you should be fine 🙌🏼

@@aoangelo1842 flex fuel is a huge jump I wouldn't take that leap unless your intention is to race it .. look up a stage 2 with a cobb tune ... flex fuel will require an E tune and you will have to mix your gas with ethanol yes it is a good way for power but depends on your end goals and if your wanting to constantly monitor your fuel and find ethanol stations .. my opinion is do your research if you go that route but if daily driver and fun stick to the stage tunes and possibly a pro tune in the future

Have you tried getting your car walnut blasted. Intake valve must be clogged. Got my 15 wrx with 103k miles walnut blasted not long ago and fixed same issue along damn staying at 1.0

Also spark plugs can be the issue as well. Changed mine at 100k and mpg when up to 27 most I've seen on mine was 32 mpg

I was good until I cleaned MAF sensor then went down hill.had to buy another harness.i think i shorted it.now all is good.good start and idle and feel more power but lower mpg gonna shoot for that walnut blast you suggested.is the only sign for a walnut blast low mpg.and thanks for the info.really needed to hear someone's suggestion.

mendezeddie1322 no problem I spent $560 to get walnut blast at PrecisionTuning Motorsports and they did a fantastic job. I also notice throttle response was a lot better. Might want to check your spark plugs as well.

Same here, I loved it for a while... but I got tired of cleaning the MAF that kept getting covered in oil. My car runs better with stock airbox. The accessport is def a must. Even without airbox....

Ya definitely not true. Only issue is heat shielding if your upgraded cold air intake isn't covered. You always need a tune for an air intake upgrade so, otherwise should be nothing wrong. I don't see why you are getting oil in there

Yes, it works fine with the required OTS Cobb tune...But the MAP sometimes gets lightly coated with oil. It’s not a lot, you can barley see it, but noticeable and enough to throw of the MAP reading properly. Look it up, it’s not uncommon....the oil comes from the filter. Cobb recommends not to run the Cobb filter without oil. Just make sure not to overspray it and you should be good.
