You have no idea how good of an idea that is.. I used to work with airplane mechanics..... to put it mildly they're less than intelligent.. with all the backup they give each other you'd think the 3 signatories to remove and reinstall anything including each rivet would be enough to make sure everything is in good working order..... not so much though.. most of the issues that arise from aircraft is due to human error...... and when you're 30k feet in the air there's not much room for errors

@@gingerthomas5758 lawsuits. Many companies fear that so much they keep bad employees & make settlements when there's no reason for it. Coke used to have people of certain colors apply for a job, work a week & then be " injured" frequently. They sued every time they were fired, while other employees involved in anything that went against safety regulations were fired immediately. Coke always had to pay. Racism certainly does exist, but it's also used as an excuse for things that have more to do with bad behavior & greed than anything. Especially now. Surely you've noticed?

I wonder what the odor was that the Flight Attendant smelled? Like an unwashed odor? Did they smell like Marijuana? I’m a Black Woman and I think the smell of weed stinks really bad and it’s strong. A lot of people that smoke don’t notice they’re like nose blind to the smell. The Men in my family all bathe daily and use cologne. They don’t smoke at all. This is unusual unless they smoke weed.

We were at PHX last December when a group of African refugees sat near us in the terminal. The odor was absolutely horrendous. Like excrement. So glad they were not on our flight.

Yes, and not saying this is the case with the situation here, no information if all 8 smelled and did they go into restrooms, given aid with soap and cloths to wash up while off the plane to qualify the travel... but if 8 of them or the group sitting there (near you in the terminal) were funded by an organization to fly them instead of bussing them, to get them to the sanctuary city of their choice, seats don't have to be near each other on the plane, nor do each individual have to "know" each other. Each individual in the group may have new or clean clothes provided by the organization, but maybe not access to showers since the last drop off point or even so, can't force it on them, and between drop off points providing food, clothes, and transportation processes, in the millions now, after arrival at the southern border. If all 8 smelled, and all eight were funded refugees without regular cleaning of their body, it would seem to show a connection. The origin of country they were bussed from to each bus drop point, through many countries to US border can tie it together for a similar background. Here being of black color from where the country of origin. I haven't looked far to come across if the 8 had other similarities for background, or refugees or no refugee status, but it could happen in another situations perhaps, even on busses to sanctuary cities with groups of refugee status.

The interview with a man doesn't give an idea any washing was to be done, to requalify alleged 8 men that smelled so bad to remove them off the plane and let them back on regardless of if the same plane or not. The alleged smell needed I would think, maybe wrong, to be accounted on each one to disqualify each one to force then off the plane, and the reason to let them on a plane after, would be they did not smell. The situation seemed flawed for the get off get on thing, or the information has some oddities.

It's very easy to discriminate against others. What's not smelly to one might be smelly to another. What's beautiful to one, might be ugly to another. But we should learn to be tolerant and respectful. I'm glad these guys spoke up and decided to sue the airlines. I hope AA will pay heavily, and the rest of the airlines will learn a lesson from this.

There are religions which forbid bathing. Years ago I got into a cab in which the driver was one such faithful and I have to tell you, it can be overwhelming. I was trying hard not to make him feel self/conscious but my head was hanging out the window to breathe.

Do these religions forbid bathing at all times or just during some type of holiday/worship or meditation period? If it is during all times wouldn't that be bad for their skin and health? Even animals bathe themselves in plain open water. So do hunter/gatherer tribes that have no contact with the outside world "some Tribes on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for example" by using natural substances in open waters. If you ever seen any documentary videos of some of those tribes "the ones that will let producers get close enough anyway", those people actually look very clean with smooth flawless skin.

I used to have a black coworker who had poor hygiene and although outwardly she dressed nicely, her body odor was overwhelming. I was also coming home on an international flight and there was a white man sitting on the opposite side of the aisle, one row back. Every time he moved he emitted an odor that was beyond body odor, it wreaked of rottiness. Interestingly, when we landed he was met at the door of the plane by two armed officers and escorted away. We wondered if he was transporting dead body parts in his carry on luggage.

@@truthforthemasses4443My point being that sometimes there are people who have bad body odor in confined spaces that makes it very unpleasant for those around them. I spent three weeks in Liberia, West Africa back in 1989. People there don't use deodorant and it's very noticeable to those around them that practice better hygiene. We don't know who these men were or where they were coming from, nor do we have any other facts about them in this incident. But it's possible they all had very bad body odor on an airplane where people couldn't get away from it. Based on my own personal experience that would be nauseating. It had to have been very bad, otherwise they wouldn't have removed them.

I once flew internationally seated near an adult wearing diapers who smelled horribly of urine-a smell all too familiar to me, having worked in the ER for years. Every time that person walked up or down the aisle to use the bathroom, I assume, the nearby passengers would turn around to take a good look. I can't even imagine what it was like for the passengers seated next to that person. As for passengers smelling intensely of perspiration, that's not uncommon either.

Facts of the case. Why was 8 people pull off a plane. The airline claims it was due to body odour complaints from other passengers, If this is true, how did they determine all of the 8 individuals were responsible for the body odour…? Did all 8 individuals wear the same fragrance ..? What is the connection between these individuals could have determined that they were responsible for the offensive odor? Are there any other factors that made them responsible for the offensive body odour other than the colour of their skin..? After this is dealt with, what then is the way forward to avoid the plight of offensive odours in airplanes.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, happens on an aircraft without the permission of the captain. This means all flight attendants, whomever was the supervising flight attendant, the captain and co-pilot, plus the American Airlines staff at the gate knew and accepted what was happening and why. That American Airlines has the nerve to corporate-speak about "core" values without sufficient pushback from every single corporate news agency attests to the times in which we live. Core values are demonstrated by each and every American Airlines employee, the companies and people they contract with, every single time they interact with the public. This incident (and many, many others in the past) demonstrates their "core" values are only worth the cost of the ink to print it on a manual somewhere.

Offensive body odor is not limited to black people. Many other cultures, including white people, Indian, middle eastern, and Asians have issues with body odor because of the diets they consume. It's not necessarily due to not bathing. Don't think these black lawsuit seeking men will get to far with this.

I smell a rat. There is so much missing information, as if the puzzle is only 1/4 completed. My husband flies 2x a month for business and said that the plane is half full of migrants with their asylum papers and the odor is so overwhelming that he decided to switch airlines (he flies United). The olfactory system is very sensitive and when something is offensive to the point of almost vomiting, this shouldn't be ignored. I've flown a lot in my life, but not in the past 4 years and not once did I ever smell ANYONE that had an offensive body odor (due to weed, hygiene, spices that they cook with, etc.). This needs more investigative work before putting it out there like this.

The airline claims it was due to body odour complaints from other passengers, If this is true, how did they determine all of the 8 individuals were responsible for the body odour…? Did all 8 individuals wear the same fragrance ..? What is the connection between these individuals could have determined that they were responsible for the offensive odor? Are there any other factors that made them responsible for the offensive body odour other than the colour of their skin..? After this is dealt with, what then is the way forward to avoid the plight of offensive odours in airplanes.
