i slightly misunderstood Grim Embrace. it doesn't block all gens for 12 seconds the first time EACH survivor is hooked, its the first time ANY survivor is hooked. so its not as good as I thought, but still super strong EDIT: Apparently they edited it so it DOES work like this. The STBFL nerf is a pretty substantial nerf to Trapper. The obsession steps in a trap across the map because they know you have STBFL? You lose 2 tokens, and you probably can't get to them. Even if you do reach them, regardless of how you do it, you lose 4 tokens. They just can't stop hating on their OG poster boy.

the grim embrace change is huge. I've never been big on corrupt intervention and felt it was way too inconsistent and weak, one because it's got very easy counterplay, and two because it actually forces survivors to spread out, and three because its hilariously easy to get a down which makes those blocked gens have little value... Grim embrace change makes it so you ALWAYS GET VALUE. And it's WHEN YOU ACTUALLY NEED IT. The start doesnt need that much of a helping hand, especially if you use lethal pursuer. I've never had a real issue with the start of a game, it's always been towards the midgame where I want to lean on the pressure as hard as possible. Pop Pain Res helped this. And at the endgame No Way Out helped too. But now I can have Grim Embrace to REALLY lay on the hurt. That's so awesome.

I played Billy a lot before the overheat rework and after it happened pretty much left playing DbD on a regular basis, returning to play the game to check out seasonal events and major updates. Can't describe with words how excited I am to try out the Hillbilly after this update, overheat remove is huge of course but I am actually astonished they increased Billy's base chainsaw sprint speed by 10% (which is basically basekit engravings) and changed the collissions because they were such a pain in the arse after the nerfs they done throughout the years. Lots of respect to the devs for this rework and the fact that they finally decided to admit the mistakes they done with the overheat mechanic

@@nerk1807 Overheat when they initially introduced it was unbearably bad, and it took them months to tune it down to the point where it didn't make the killer borderline unplayable. And even then, they introduced overheat when they were "happy with where Billy is", which means they straight up nerfed him for literally zero reason. That's a valid reason to stop playing DBD. When the devs start making decisions just because they feel like it, rather than considering game health.

@@nerk1807 by saying "the overheat rework" I don't mean just the overheat mechanic itself, though it's a huge change that took away the opportunity to zone people out at the loops with holding your chainsaw at 99% and waiting for survivor to do a mistake that would in most cases lead to a down or at least a pallet break. I mean by that a lot of changes to Billy throughout the past years that led to his sad current live servers state, including: 1) Horrendous addons rework 2) Fucking up his collisions 3) Chainsaw camera and animations changes. Before, after landing a chainsaw hit on a survivor, your camera wasn't forcing you to look into the ground, allowing you to freely move it however you want. While this may seem like an insignificant change, for a certain amount of Billy players it defenitely was awkward and unnecessary, and an example of this camera change mostly summarizes all the changes the devs did to Hillbilly: it's like they were intentionally trying to make Hillbilly gameplay as uncomfortable and unpleasant as possible. 4) And all the other changes like the remove of "Space Billy", which was not problematic for the health of the game at all but made its contribution into making the Hillbilly the mere shadow of himself

@@nerk1807Overheat was def a problem, ESPECIALLY before they started touching Billy add-ons again. Traversal, fake-revs, faking a pallet break. All of these things and more were discouraged. If you ran double engravings you could saw 2-3 times consecutively, max, then you had to take a break for cooldown. Billy was totally unapproachable for new players especially.

Behind the scenes while chainsaw sprinting the game converted your mouse input into a virtual joystick input, which is why controller sense affected it because it was treating your mouse as a controller joystick

Edit: I had missed the fact that this new version sounds like it spreads condemn to survivors within 16 meters of ANY tv, not just the one she teleported to (though it does have to be turned on still). IF that's correct and you can spread condemn to survivors who are near multiple different TVs at the same time then that's a noteable buff as well which miiiiight be enough, we'll see. I think all the sadako changes SOUND really good. Until we realize that it's going to go back to being near impossible to build condemn stacks now. It'll be like playing old-sadako but without the addon that spreads condemn when slugging - which was what made her old condemn build actually viable. (Since they've already nerfed that addon to not work when reviving a downed player, only when healing an injured one - which does nothing when self healing ofc). Old Sadako was only problematically strong when she ran the condemn-on-revive addon with a slugging playstyle, it was otherwise comically underpowered basekit. I don't think she'll realistically be able to rely on condemned unless she really tries to hard-tunnel a single survivor with condemn from early on, and even then I think she's sacrificing 4-5 gens to the other survivors to do that. I hope I'm wrong, but I really don't see why it would be any different, unless the addon reworks create any other new powerful options. Even having the "must run tapes to furthest gen" addon as basekit now I don't think will be meaningful enough. Realistically I'm expecting these changes to make her weaker, and to push her back towards playing as a very vanilla killer, like as if condemned doesn't exist except for rare cases - just like old sadako w/o addons. Side note: I wish bubba would get the buff to collision detection for his chainsaw like bubba is. I hate "balance by making your abilities janky/clunky AF", it's a frustrating way to balance abilities, I'd rather they significantly buff the collision detection to be way more forgiving, and instead nerf his power in other ways.

If she retains her projection buff she got in her last rework leaving tvs off for 45 seconds after she teleports instead of 100 then she has a lot more opportunities to spread condemn. Imo them saying it's a blending of both renditions of her kit means she's keeping the small buffs she got in the first rework while shifting back to the original focus for her basekit. So she can't be pallet stunned while demanifested, tvs powered off duration. Her new add ons will probably be the deciding factor on whether or not this design is truly better. I really liked her original kit so as long as she can teleport more frequently I'm happy with the changes. She was way too easy after her rework.

I just remember that originally she reallly needed ring drawing + slugging to play at a high level, and I'm not sure this new version with the various buffs will be enough to enable her to go for condemn victories without that. Ring Drawing was wayyy more than half of her condemn stacks, but now it's almost worthless, and I don't think doubling the amount of times she can use her power will be a sufficient compensation. We'll see though, it's at least possible, maybe the additional slowdown from making survivors have to carry tapes extra far will be enough on the other half of the compensation. But I suspect she'll end up playing like "better-freddy" where she's going for hook kills with the ability to TP to gens plus some stealth mechanics as the main parts of her gameplay.

@@Night_Hawk_475 It's likely she'll get some buffs from PTB to live if she's underwhelming. Last year they listened heavily on feedback from PTB to live, so this hopefully will be no different. Honestly making Reiko's watch basekit and not old newspaper is kinda crazy to me, but here's hoping if we're vocal enough that they'll make some changes. I am hesitant to say that just making condemn sort of permanent is enough, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

If so it'll probs get brought up and patched out to say "if the killer causes the obsession to lose a health state by any means..." hey scott at 14:30 you might be misinterpreting a change to hillbilly. the notes say they reduce collision detection but you say it will affect survivor hitbox detection. i think it reads more like what they did with wesker where his collision hitbox is smaller than his survivor one.

As a sadako main, I'm glad they're largely reverting her. Projection inflicting condemn on all survivors near a powered TV is a nice midpoint between the brainless but strong global condemn and the original, very weak condemn only to those nearby the TV you projected to. Interestingly, it looks like tapes no longer increase condemn slowly as you hold them like they did originally. It feels like a fine trade off since condemn shoud be spreading more than orignal Sadako. It takes more time for condemn to build, so it should take longer for survivors to cleanse some of it. Sure, guarding a TV returns, but it at least it requires more time from the Sadako player to guard it from one player as opposed to spam teleports to affect a whole team. My one wish for sadako though was that tapes had some sort kf negative effect for holding them, cause as it stands now, they're just used to counter her power, so they dont feel particularly cursed. An idea i always had for them was that holding one negates any bonuses a survivor has, so for example no overzealous, prove, botany, styptic, or lithe, while holding one. The exception being this bonus neutralization not taking effect after being unhooked until x amount of time of they perform a conspicuous action as to have an anti-tunnel measure. But, this is just a little wish of mine, and maybe they'll have something of the like for an addon or two. As for the condemn lock upon hook, its a great effect to incentivize hooking. Slugging is always boring, and as sadako, it was often better to do because hooking for 1 state was time better spent spreading condemn for the full condmen and an instant 3 hook states. Now, hooking locks in condemn, which means you'll need less stacks on a survivor going forward. As for tunneling potential, you could harass someone and to to a tv whenever they get near one, and then hook them to lock in say, 4, 5, maybe even 6 stacks. But, that is a time investment. And unlike originally when tvs has a 90/70 second cooldown, meaning it would be harder to find an on TV specially of the sadako was purposely turning them off, it should be easier to find an on TV. But even them, tunneling someone out eith condemn is a much greater time investment than sadako 2.0. And again, guading a TV is a time investment and means you dont have map pressure. If a killer wants someone dead, they'll make it happen. As an m1 killer with a relatively weak chase and no exposed effect in her power, you'll probably throw the game for that. Speaking lf chase power, reiko's watch baskit is so nice. Pure, actually, 100% invisibility with no sound cue is heavily underrated. Its unmatched in terms of sneaking up, and while not actually insane like top tiers, its solid for an short killer like sadako as a chase tool. Ive gotten sick hits at shack using the increased invis. Though, it should read 1.33 seconds in the dev update, not 1.2. Although, it did used tk bring demanifested invis up tk 1.5 seconds, and i hope they bring that back. And while they're at it old newspaper, which increases post manifestation invis by 50%, should also be basekit just so sadako has a servicable chase tool. And i know i hype up invis, but what it does is let you mind game any loop. Which is very good, mindgaming something like shack is usually reserved for the likes of ranged or m2 killers with some sort of burst speed. Lastly, chase while demanifested is something im so happy to be back. Hiding who you were chasing was useless against swfs. Plus, you'll get your chase points and accure bloodlust, which is useful against W holders. Chasing while demanifested is also prefered as it means survivors wont gain stacks for things like distortion or stake out while youre chasing. Plus, being invisible beyond 24 meters while im chase is nice, if not always particularly useful.

With Sadako there is one thing, dunno if that is just wording, but originally she would add condemn to survivors near the TV she teleported to, but in these notes it says "When The Onryo teleports, Survivors *within 16m of a powered TV* will receive a stack of Condemned." which could mean it is something between, you still condemn those near you, but also those near other active TV, that makes it more important to turn them off which is a bit more dangerous because if she finds you while carrying a tape and hooks you, your condemn from picking a tape will be locked in. Overall, it seems like these smaller changes will make survivors more interested in removing condemn and turning off TV, which is a form of slowdown but also makes them more vulnerable to you.

The McLean thing is really important though. He essentially said BHVR had a culture of not walking back mistakes to spare hurt feelings. The Onryo change and now the Hillbilly change implies the company has grown up since then! That's amazing. We should rejoice. As for Onryo, I imagine she'll now return to being pretty weak overall, but have a huge edge in tunneling. I hate tunneling so I hate that, but we'll see. No need for pessimism for now.

Those Billy changes actually look amazing. I've never been so excited for a patch. Also, hot take but I think the new Alchemist Ring and Compound 33 are going to be a REALLY strong combo, especially on larger maps. Imagine spawning in with Lethal Pursuer, chaining 3 rushes and then basically have full movement control in Rush Mode by the time you get to a survivor. It will be a guaranteed hit unless they're at a tile or pallet.

The meme addon (iri blight tag) states that it caps at 3 bonuses so you would get the benefits of other add-ons a maximum of 3 times

6:20 this is actually due to how dbd calculates FoV. Most games calculate it using some combination of horizonal and vertical. But dbd calculates it horizontally only i believe which makes it actually much less than 87.

I love the the changes to the add-ons for blight. My favorite add-ons have always been the fun ones that changes how you play the killer, and I hope more killers get add-on changes like that, mainly pyramid head’s add-ons (for obvious reasons).

But to get eruption you have to kick the generator. So if you just use eruption once, you’re at minimum using 1/4 of your total regression events.

Eruption nerfed when it's already balanced and rarely uses! That's sad. But also won't be that relevant unless you're hard stacking, I imagine.

I love how the first half of this is amazing, and the second part is like they put on a blindfold and decided to randomly shoot a perk (STBFL in this case), and a map, and just flipped a coin on whether to buff it or nerf it.

Honestly the biggest thing for me here is now I can actually run four perks on killer for the first time in 7 years. Although it's probably just gonna be the gearhead slot now.

The only disadvantage to having a wider fov is that It affects the angle you can be blinded at, Its actually a pretty noticeable difference.

my one thing I hope with the buff to gen kick is the triple slowdown I keep running into was getting a small nerf or at least something to keep a blight/nurse from abusing it. Idc if a trapper has 4 slowdowns because he needs it but it feels awful when you are against a nurse who has pop pain res and holds you at 5 gens until everyone is on death hook (this has happened multiple times to me already)

I'd like to see Sadako gain a short movement speed buff when she demanifests. Not the entire time, similar to wraiths uncloak but to differentiate them she'd get it when she cloaks. Nothing to fast, just something to help her. It would help at long loops and in catching up with a survivor after a hit or leaving a loop, while being relatively useless at small loops. Either that or let her walk through palettes with a slowed movement speed while demanifested. Again, wouldn't help much at small loops.

So does eruption cost 2 of 8 “regression” actions per activation per gen? Cause you have to kick to apply it -losing 5 percent. Costing 1 and then it activates exploding losing more than 2.5% costing a second?

the issue with the new Onryo is that to lock-in condemn via hooking you have to hook them multiple times. If you hook them twice and then you down them they're dead anyway, so what's the point of even worrying about condemn? The best case scenario is the rare chance that a survivor lets themself get at 6 condemn stacks before a single hook, which simply cannot happen now that hitting a survivor no longer removes the tape. A survivor can literally just farm tapes the entire game now with no consequence and an Onryo suddenly becomes tier 2 myers without a power.

idk how I feel about getting minor buffs to charge time since taking off engravings already messes me up, and having it change around like that mid-match was never something I was a real fan of with the stun: chargespeed+ and blind: chargespeed+ add-ons but I'm just happy that Billy is getting the love and attention he deserves

i think much of the map rng problems in this case gens spawning so close has to do in part with the map changes they have been doing to quite a few realms often making them smaller, as the default 5 Mcmillan maps have their usual gen spreads that requires strategy to prevent 3 gens yes but once broken the killer can't hold the 3 gen. the problems that RPD had with 3 gens in main is a good example i'm not sure if its because the logic for the rng was mess with or because so many maps were made smaller causing fewer locations for gens to spawn thus pushing them together or what but player spawns and killer item spawns are also wacky on some maps as well

Hex Ruin is actually good now, because it is probably immune from the 8 regression counter on gens. Your point on STBFL stacks is a good one that it might encourage tunneling. Though killers were doing that anyway. One Blight nerf that should have happened was his speed reduced to 110. There is no reason he should be at 115. The regression counter for gens is also a quasi nerf to Nowhere to Hide…as killers might not spam that over and over. Shadowborn might make flashlight saves pointless now, since the killer will have 7 seconds of haste after the stun to redown the saved survivor. Finally, I’m hoping Sadako does not gain Bloodlust while Demanifested in chase. That could be very broken.

This genuinely looks very good, couple of weird calls and some stuff we'll 100% have to see play out in testing but I'm very optimistic for this patch. I think the one thing that I really hate is the stbfl change, it went from a middling niche pick in general or a solid strong pick on certain killers to completely losing its niche, just a bad call imo

Serious question for Save the Best for Last... it just mentions loses a health state by any means.... did they code it properly to not lose you stacks if the obsession brings for the people or plot twist? I can just imagine it now "Killer has save the best for last time for me to go lie down in a corner somewhere and drain 2 stacks from him." Like is that something that if works you'll always see value from? No, but I definitely see it as an unintended consequence if they didn't code properly.

The 87 fov must be different like vertical vs horizontal fov or something because I am sure the fov is lower than 87, default killer is very zoomed in, it always felt like 70’s at the max. So yeah I bet they have been using the arse backwards fov number which is why they have seemed fit to change it because they’re like “oh yeah fov is high and totally fine”. It baffles me it took so long for BHVR to add vsync and resolution options and fov. They removed Ultrawide support at one point for 21:9.. maybe now they can add it back in since there’s an fov slider but knowing their laziness I doubt it’ll ever happen.

I feel like stbfl could be fixed by the person you hook becomes the obsession, so it pushes you to hit the unhooker instead so you don’t lose stacks and don’t tunnel

Shadowborn should have been like this instead At the start of the trial, you gain an undetectable status effect; when you kick a wall, pallet, gen, search a locker or injure a Survivor, then shadowborn undetectable will deactivate. Extend the duration of any undetectable by 3/4/5 seconds

I feel like Iri Tag should have a caveat, maybe it can't break pallets in a rush, maybe if you break a pallet in a rush, it's on cooldown or has a longer "stun/break" time. Its certainly more fun/fair than old tag was, but the new tag makes it really kinda...uninteractive overall. He can use infinite/no cooldowns to break pallets and then rush instantly again to chase survivor, so the play becomes that of other antiloop killers - just leave loop and don't drop pallet, because he'll just eat the pallet and keep rushing you down. Sure he can bounce around and stuff now infinitely and go around the pallet but the only time pallets are even useful anymore against tag blight would be in his short cooldown time after a hit. Even if you do really well to time a stun on him rushing towards you, he either gets stunned (probably has Enduring, see a lot of blights with it), or breaks it as part of rush. Then he just starts rush over again and you might be 16 meters away by that point so the pallet drop was pointless. Glad they're changing blight, I just hope people don't use Tag too often if it stays like this because it just feels kinda like it eliminates counterplay, especially with turn speed addon too.

The haste wouldn’t transfer. Any haste effect Charlotte gains doesn’t transfer to victor. Only the 2 add ons change his movement speed.

As a blight main im honestly good with the addon changes except for 2. Adrenaline vial had everything good about it taken away, its just gotten the gut treatment and nobodys gonna run it when it has 1 good upside and 1 mediocre and then a pretty hefty downside. The other one is blight tag, 20 seconds of not using your ppwer is way too much and i feel like this would help newer players learn because they can rush untill they hit, but then that begs the question of whys it an iridescent. Blights yellow and browns are gid awful so i feel like they couldve tweaked some of thrm too instead of just nerfing, but overall its a change for the better
