FYI: I explained that the "pressure" feature applies a force to the vertices because many properties of the cloth sim use Vertex Groups to limit the effect and I thought it would keep the tutorial a bit more simple. However, the sim actually uses the faces (and their size!) to calculate the pressure! ... Anyway, this is still in Beta and maybe they refactor these things to use the new Face Maps where appropriate.

I remember doing a soft-body sim with Suzanne and was highly amused out the eyeballs seemed to be bouncing around on springs. I wish I'd saved that one.

Great tutorial series, Chris, I enjoy it! To be physically and linguistically correct the pressure can not be applied to the vertices, but to the faces, proportional to their areas and in direction of normals. So if one cube side is subdivided, the opposite side not, the pressure force must be equal for both sides. So it has to be a vertex group by naming, but actually a "face group" in calculation, hasn't it?

Hi! Yes, faces are required but since everything is based on Vertex Groups I thought it would make more sense to keep explanations based on vertices ... I guess they should refactor this to use Face Maps instead.

hi Chris, great tutorial! but i have a certain issue regarding the cloth sim please address to my problem. i made a random shape using a curve and converted curve into mesh now precisely selected 4 vertices of the mesh and pressed f to make a face and kept on going until i had a typology. Next when i applied cloth modifier it just doesnt work nothing happens. i tried it on a simple mesh inserted a circle and started making typology over it by filling the face and same result. i think cloth modifier does not work on custom shapes. please have a look

Hi, cloth sim works on any mesh - even non-manifold... there must be a different issue

you have to move the collision modifiers of both objects to the bottom of the modifier stacks!

That is the problem when I try to get a grip on the clothing sim or soft bodies: It does all kinds of 1. funny stuff that is totally unrealistic (looks fake, not what you want to achieve with a realistic clothing sim), 2. useless and most of all, 3. not what I tried to achieve.

Too bad some steps aren't explained around 4:46 min to 4:59 min, All of a sudden the tutorial plays very fast, the cube ends up smooth without any explanation on the steps.
