I make no apologies, I love horse stance! Let me correct myself, I love the benefits of horse stance!
In qigong practice you have many different types of movements, some that are dynamic and moving, some that are stationary and still. Horse stance is stationary and it is absolutely wonderful at helping the body heal, unwind, relax, and restore itself to balance. In this video I will give you 3 reasons why you should practice horse stance.
One teacher I had suggested that the rest of qigong practice was a preparation for horse stance. This is a similar concept in yoga- the stretching and breathing is a preparation for deep meditation. If you haven’t already I would highly suggest starting some horse stance practice with your qigong as soon is you can! Even if you only practice for 1 minute everyday it will still be beneficial.
To get the full benefit of qi gong practice I would highly recommend practicing full routines. You can find plenty different routines in the "Communi Qi"

As a practitioner of Tai Chi Chuan...my Xi required us to horse stance... 3 hand levels below our eyes...for 10 minutes. Hard at first...but doable. He used to te us...his master required 30 minutes of horse stance at 3rd level. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Can you demonstrate a good horse stance without holding a tree. Show both front and side view of a good and proper horse stance. I practice some qigong, but primarily Shaolin Kungfu and they practice the horse stance a lot. How can one maintain strength in the sitting position of a horse stance?

I tried horse stance for the first time today, but I felt a burning pain on my left trapezius after 10s or so and then I stopped. I do have chronic pain on my neck and shoulders due to tension / stress, but today wasn't a particular bad day at all. Was it something related to stagnant energy? Any tips? I'd love to try horse stance again, it seems beneficial. Thanks.

Prob unpopular opinion but... You *can* do it daily. However, return on investment(read: time spent vs results desired) would be much better just doing weighted squats like 1x/week.

They’d prob suggest something silly like 10mins+. My suggestion would be whatever fraction of a sec it takes to go from horse stance back to full standing position(ie. a squat), and repeat.
