Especially in the current times, unless there is a complete reversal in the economy and the joblessness (currently 30 million in USA) then this is a magnificent idea. Am I condoning poaching? No. And neither is the Meat Trapper. Just the opposite. Here in SE Colorado, all body grip, foot holds and cable restraint traps are illegal. So I won't be able to use them... I do have some of all mentioned though. Just in case I move... 😎😉

I just picked up a dozen Bridger 280’s because a local trap supply guy was going out of business and got em for half price. After looking then over real hood I think I’m gonna scrap the 330’s this year and give these a fair run. I agree on the suit casing beaver.

Nice! I might add that some "slides" or runs I have encountered are narrower than my 330's witch brings you right back to the modern 280's. Where I defaulted to 220's with a litter field of cattail stalks and twigs I have not used a circle trigger, I have put cattail stalks on them to form a misformed diamond and added stalk pieces to narrow and make a field of litter that they will try to push thru. I only have a few 280's that were aquired latter in my life, all my 330's and 220's are older Victor conibear traps. Some are old enough to not have the spring loops in the corners. Tell me if you have ever seen a Canadian Longliner Conibear, they have releases in the spring loops to remove one end of the springs in the unfortunate event you are accidentally caught by your own trap. That event happens more frequently in slippery, snowy, and icy conditions. And yes I have had that happen in below zero icy conditions.. not good! I acquired only two in my lifetime, purchased them some 45+ years ago, and never seen anything like them since... 🤠

Great video Tim at first I didn't want to use 280's period and then I had a location that screamed 280 and I bought a FEW and hid them so my friends couldn't see them lol man was I surprised they are awesome otter killers. if you set them side by side and trip them with a stick you will notice that the 280 is lightly quicker to close than the 330 and the springs depending on the brand are about the same ( humane quick kill) as you said in the right place at the right time 280s out perform 330s all day long be safe my Friend later

Narrow runs and pinch points is where the 280 shines.Its a better otter trap to as it gets more neck and shoulder catches vs 330s.Also as muskrats go you will catch more in narrow spots to.Rats probably slip through 330s alot and you never knew it.

Why not use a 220 seems to me every beaver caught in a 330 is suitcased 220s always catchem right behind the head why is a 330 so popular?!?!?!?!
