Grain & Sens is a multicultural eco-community in Ardèche, France consisting of four families who all believe there could be more people living together and sharing resources. Where there once was a single family, now there are 14 people living in community. They all live in simple tiny houses each with their own gardens to grow food.
Sharing resources and responsibilities helps them to live more sustainably, saves them a lot of time and money and creates a greater sense of freedom so that they can pursue their passion and strive for a higher quality of life. It shouldn’t be so foreign to want to support each other and recreate this connection to people that has been lost in this separate society.
At Grain & Sens, they host visitors and share this experience with others. They offer workshops and classes as well as volunteer opportunities. They believe that if people can come there and see what they do, then people can heal themselves too.

How inspiring! I’m currently in the process of purchasing 100 acres of land with a group of 7 people and start an intentional farming community. I’ve been feeling a little anxiousness about starting this business venture with so many people, but this video was definitely reassuring that it is possible! Thank you ❤️

Very interesting. I have a 3 generational family farm/homestead. Started it in 2010. 5 years ago it was 4 generations. I like the concept of smaller private spaces. We all live in a big house. We are working towards this concept of building smaller private spaces as children marry etc. But keeping our communal kitchen and shared spaces. Wish we had done this decades ago. Absolutely love it.

I have always wanted this for the homeless low income families of single or married with without children to help myself and them to live life without being left out in cold. Government is an issue because government is people who need others to supply them with great lives at expense of others like bad gangs. i placed an ad on craiglist looking for others wanting yo get together to form a community and my ad was deleted by craiglist

For those of us who are choosing Nature and a healthier connection to who we are as a species, communities are the future - if only from a pragmatic standpoint. For those electing urban lifestyle in large hubs and a heightened stimulated environment (albeit controlled), individualism is the future. This is now our societal evolution as a species on Earth. And the choice is ours. All based on free will.

A kibbutz (Hebrew: קִבּוּץ / קיבוץ‎, lit. "gathering, clustering"; plural: kibbutzim קִבּוּצִים‎ / קיבוצים‎) is an intentional community in Israel that was traditionally based on agriculture. The first kibbutz, established in 1909, was Degania.[1] Today, farming has been partly supplanted by other economic branches, including industrial plants and high-tech enterprises.[2] Kibbutzim began as utopian communities, a combination of socialism and Zionism.[3] In recent decades, some kibbutzim have been privatized and changes have been made in the communal lifestyle. A member of a kibbutz is called a kibbutznik (Hebrew: קִבּוּצְנִיק / קיבוצניק‎; plural kibbutznikim or kibbutzniks).

Great concept but individual work ethic, ability, personal needs, and the human condition (feelings of jealousy, anger, etc) can’t be overlooked. Too many people expect utopia in communities like this but if these things are addressed openly by mature and well balanced people with genuine love and respect for others it can be a reality. I admire their goal to live in harmony with one another and the world and encourage each one to never give up seeking love and unity in this world 💕

American should plant billion of trees because China and other places e.g. Pakistan also plant trees and make the air cooler on our side. Recently tornado alley in 2021 hit more east onward. Resolutions for the west dryness and tornado alley moving east hit more frequently, tree planting campaign should be first priority of government policies. Cheers! Happy New Year!

I guess by "intentional" community it means living with people you can actually stand being around continually. I like family. I like friends, neighborhood, and I like community. But crowd "my space" too close too often and I get grouchy 😆

Flashback to the sixties communes. Those all collapsed. We will see how long this one lasts.
@falljazz

What do you think it is that causes these communities to collapse?
@stirtheimagination88
@stirtheimagination88 2 жыл бұрын
@@falljazz studies have been done to figure out that very question. Basically no form of commune-ism lasts for long. My mom boiled it down to familiarity breeds contempt, but I think it's because there is no accounting for character flaws in people and we all have them. There is no way to prepare for all of them, leaving cracks in the system that will ultimately tear the group apart.
@falljazz
@falljazz 2 жыл бұрын
@@stirtheimagination88 That all makes sense. The fact that they all fail is also interesting in contrast with tribal lifestyle that used to be the standard for people many thousands of years ago. In many ways, there are similarities between the hunter gatherer tribes of our ancestors and these communes. But there must be key differences between the two which cause the latter to fail while the former was very successful. Perhaps one difference is that in modern day communes people can simply leave rather than being forced to stay due to the reliance on others for survival. The same is true for marriages. Marriages are less likely to last if there is a plan B.
@RowenaSnow-px3jg
@RowenaSnow-px3jg Ай бұрын
The sixties commune folks were amateurs. They used drugs heavily, and I don't think that helps. They were mostly young adults wrestling with many new concepts for the first time. Today, we have a better understanding of things like: conflict resolution, consent rules, codependency, setting boundaries, equality of races /genders, etc. and even trauma therapy. There are more known resources for dealing with issues or preventing them. Also, unlike tribal societies, the communes would have had few "experienced elders" to show them how to do things, and little or no cultural experience living as a harmonious "tribe".

Are there intentional, ecological communities for people who have disabilities, or that accept people with disabilities? Especially if we have very low income and DONT require a babysitter? Most affordable options for disabled people are way too paternalistic, or too expensive, and don't center ecological living.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It has been a pleasure to watch and learn. However, there are a few concerns and questions, if I may. 1) We are social beings and although some time away in solitude is good, long term isolation takes a tole on our mental health. 2) We don't always have to run away from problems, but taking a step back and finding solutions may be a better alternative. With those two things said, I have a possible solution: start small, non-profit, eco-friendly, sustainable, off-grid, permaculture farming villages surrounding each city. Here are a few great examples: 1) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n6l3i7mcksmmhp8.html 2) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ncxzlqxnxJfNmXU.html 3) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nL2JltaX067KeYk.html The village's mission and primary objective is to provide for the poor and vulnerable within the city with food, jobs and environmental education thereby, reducing crime. The villages will offer temporary (no more than one year) housing and work for the homeless and food security for the city. The first step in this project would be to organize a few people interested in it. Then present the plan to the city for approval. There is a lot of govt funding and support for projects like this. I have additional ideas on how to get started and operate the farms, if you are interested. Now is the time to get started before the commercial farms use up all the water again
