Tom Hiddleston was the perfect choice of actor to play Loki. I mean, Loki is an awesome character for all those reasons in the video and many more, but having Tom as the actor who plays him made everything even better. He is brilliant. He can show Loki's different sides flawlessly: evil, funny, charming, sad, frustrated and tortured, unpredictable, etc. Loki's done many bad things but still we can't help but root for him. Tom Hiddleston, you're amazing! HEY MARVEL, GIVE US THE LOKI MOVIE ALREADY FOR GOD'S SAKE!

Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Loki is so incredibly underappreciated, it is just the best of any MCU villain. That includes Vincent D'Onofrio as the Kingpin, Kilgrave, Vulture and criminally underrated Iron Monger.

At the beginning of Avengers, Loki looks worse than he's ever been... He's covered in bruises and he can barely stand on his feet. Even at the end of the movie when Hulk beats the crap out if him, Loki doesn't look as bad as he did in the beginning. Why? He was tortured by the Chitari (idk how to spell it...) It makes perfect sense. They tortured him and made him work for them. He didn't want that. He came up with a plan. Get the Chitari to Earth and let the Avengers deal with them. He could have EASILY killed the Avengers. He had multiple chances. He knew that, but it wasn't his plan. He wanted them to take out the Chitari because he knew he couldn't. He was pretending to be the enemy the whole time. He got the staff close enough for them to take it and close the portal. He surrendered when he could have fought. That way, the Chitari wouldn't be able to blame him for not succeeding because he "got cought" He tricked EVERYONE Loki is the real hero

Because Tom Hiddleston plays the role.

It doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous,has a voice like volcanic sand and honey,and incredibly beautiful,expressive eyes that can completely contradict any snark or unpleasantness he might be uttering.

He is the most human of all of MCU, he's the only one that shows all human emotions, thus people relate with him, except for some people who only see the ink blot on the white paper. The other characters are either too good to be true or too evil to be liked.

Another character point about these movies I have to make: *ODIN IS A BAD FATHER* He keeps telling all his kids they can have it all, making Thor a war-craven idiot, having to banish him, making Loki cheat to get what his father told him he deserved, and Hela (Ragnorok spoilers here) a careless, cruel queen who thinks violence and war is the only to get what she wants, not diplomacy! Odin told all his kids they could have everything and then when they grew up and tried to conquer everything, Odin had to stop them, and then his sons had to stop Hela. If Odin had been a little more realistic of what his kids would get, his life wouldn't be filled with fixing his own mistakes!

I think the fact that they went such a great length to explain his backstory and made the viewers understood all of his intentions and why he did everything he did is a sign of why Loki (in my opinion) is one of the best character in MCU. I mean, he was written as a villain, literally killed people, and still some people refused to call him as a villain and referred to him as an anti-hero instead. Hahaha. And Tom Hiddleston cleverly embraced those traits/personality written for Loki and transferred it brilliantly on screen. It's amazing to see the amount of support his character received after the first Thor film. It literally drove Marvel to paint a bigger picture for Loki, put him in more films, and employed Hiddleston for several more years when (as Hemsworth said) it wasn't Marvel's original intention to have this much Loki in the MCU.

Nowadays, people consume a lot more material of a "character" than the movie alone; they watch interviews with the actor. As a result, the actor becomes an extension of the character and adds to our perception of that character. The line gets blurred. That works in Loki's favor, because there aren't many actors who can present themselves as likeable as Tom as managed. He amplifies the effect Loki has on the audience.

Honestly the Thor movie dark world scene where Loki’s in the cell and he uses an illusion to hide his broken ness honestly just made me love him. he’s honestly just misunderstood but not misunderstood like you don’t know what he’d do next. I mean most villains don’t really have any relatable backgrounds or usually just do bad stuff for the hell of it. It remind me of my conversation with my friend few weeks ago before Ragnarok came out. I told her 'hey, Thor 3 is almost out' and she said 'yeah, can't wait to see Loki again'. the tittle of the movies are always Thor or Avangers but alot of people go to see it because Loki Spoiler for those who haven't seen Ragnarok yet: My same friend said 'Thor needs to lose his father, his hammer, his eye, and his home to get the equal attantion as the attention I give to Loki' and to be honest I always feel the same as my friend

Is Loki really a villain ? I didn't view him as one in the first 2 Thor movies, seemed much more like an anti-hero to me (although I guess he might've crossed the line few times). In Avengers he did indeed seem like a cliche villain, which looked fairly out of character to me. I didn't see Ragnarok yet so I can't comment on that one. (No big spoilers please ^^)

His acting in Thor deserves an Oscar really. Since it is in a commercial, fantasy movie his extraordinary performance went unawarded. Loki works so well, because they invested a lot of time on his back story, character development and POV. So we get attached to him. Most villains get like 5 minutes to have a bit of flashback and/or monolog to establish them. Some don't even get a backstory or just hint at it, like Malekith, whiplash, Ronan (one of the lamest villains, even though the Kree/Skrull war could have been used), Ultron is given too little time to develop so he becomes this too, the Abomination (does he even have any reason?), Dormammu ended as a space cloud with no character and his lacky wasn't much better. Can't recall why he turned to the dark side at all, let alone his name. What sticks is "the one with magic eyeliner". We barely see Laufey, but then again, to me Odin is the villain of Thor 1 (and a good one). The good villains are the ones we know more about. Like the Winter Soldier, Obadiah, Zemo (good stuff but with that convoluted plan, he needed more time still), Ego, the Vulture and even Trevor.

He was a better boss than some good guys to their peeps when he did mind control them anyway. He would be better on that darn throne. He knows it, Thor knows it. Odin ignores it (yet he even made him false hopes).

I can sum up the success of movie Loki with one word: Tom Hiddleston.

Just one reason, Tom Hiddleston.

As someone that had been on the outside of the MCU until just recently and only knew what I had heard from friends/the internet, the thing that struck me the most when I was first introduced to Loki in Thor was the fact that Loki almost didn't do anything wrong. He lets Frost Giants in to screw with Thor's ascension ceremony, but only because he knew they would never make it back out alive. His only actual goal in that action was to screw up Thor's party. And everything that happens after that up to the point he takes the throne himself weren't caused by any action on his part. When Thor went after the Frost Giants, Loki tried to talk him out of it - When Odin moved to banish Thor, he tried to speak up, and when Odin fell comatose, it had nothing to do with him. So there he was, sitting on a throne he had never truly been trying to take, and all he can think about is making his father proud. His first real mistake after the start of the movie was telling Thor that Odin was dead, but that's all it was - a mistake. When Thor's friend try to petition for his return (Which they really had no grounds for in the first place, Thor hadn't even been gone for three whole days yet) Loki's decision to refuse may have PARTIALLY been driven by the desire to not let Thor know about his lie, but he wasn't WRONG when he told them his first order as king couldn't be to undo his father's last. It was the right call - politically speaking. And then they go consort with Heimdall to bring Thor back anyways because they're all basically convinced that Loki is and always has been up to no good. The only truly "bad" thing Loki did was try to genocide the Frost Giants, and even that wasn't out of any particular malice against anyone - it was just a misguided hope to win his father's approval. In all honesty, the first Thor movie was really more of a Loki movie already.
