Joined for our Detail shop a short time ago. Five members of our crew traveled several hours to the certification class held in Columbia, PA last week. The very interesting and productive IDA session was presented by Tom Palancia who did a fantastic job. Waiting to get the official word that we now have five Certified Detailers in our shop. Great job Tom and the rest of the IDA crew.

networking is king and a united global industry is absolutely my goal and should be everyone's. renny you hit the nail on the head about the manufacturers coming in, they must be there but not just that, allow for manufacturer direct purchasing for all detailers to reduce their costs especially pads. I will only buy manufacturer direct from global companies and local manufacturers for my training work these days.

About the Suppliers! I had an interesting conversation about a product. You need field Experience not just read the label 👀. Looking into joining the IDA but the exams lol never been a book worm

i'm 52 thinking about getting in to detailing part time for now, I have been doing it on my own cars for years, do you think am i to old to start this to make extra $

Absolutely not too old. Make sure to invest in decent equipment to save your back and your shoulders. I am having to do that already at 25 because i didn't use to care for my body and im already paying for it.

Fred, If you are serious about it you are never too old to start. I am considerably older than you and I am loving it. Get a real high when people look at their nearly new car clean vehicle and cannot believe that it is the same vehicle they brought in.

The IDA is more expensive than the other trade associations I have been a part of for sure.

What other associations are out there and what's the difference? Sounds like IDA is attempting to create a respected and accredited association.

Over the years in my several diverse careers I have always belonged to our trade associations. It was always a good move and I have never regretted the money spent on dues and other associated costs. This is about the least expensive association I have ever belonged to.

Just saw a certain youtuber go through some of the certification tests and it really didn’t seem that formal and legit. Especially the skills verification portion which I originally thought was an assessment of hands on test but I learned it is just an oral exam of the process. Seems as though IDA was created for the social and networking aspect.

Non-Profit doesn't mean someone can't "get rich" from it. People still get paid and the more members the more money. You're trying to sell a product and you people ignorance on the word Non-Profit. Shame on you. Albeit, I understand it may not be IDA goal, but just the simple fact that you are misleading people on what a Non-Profit means is what bothers me.
