Love it James. Your attention to finding and grabbing records that you truly want is inspiring. The Michael Gibbs is a great find and funny to see that trend at antique stores is the same even in NZ. That is with the obvious rock records being priced sky high and then the lesser known records being so cheap. Awesome to find that Sierra lp so cheap. I sold the single lp version with the intention of finding the double. Cheers!

One of the things that keeps me from getting an especially spendy cartridge is that I'm aware of how clumsy I can be. I've torched a record or two and at least one stylus by just being... me. I haven't had a wreck in ages, so I'm probably due. Man, you grab some interesting records. Nice that you scored at a local you gave up on. I rarely search my local for the same reason. Maybe this is my sign. I hope all is well! Cheers, Tom

Hey James. I saw Michael Nyman with the Michael Nyman Band nearly 30 years. He'd moved on from his earlier minimalist phase, to the punky driving neo baroque. Great concert. Beforehand I attended a talk by him. He took questions from the audience, and I really wanted to ask him why he ended his collaborations with Peter Greenaway...But I chickened out. Cheers - Hedley

James, that Gymnosphere is a major score (to quote Statictraveler). I recently got a cheap CD version. I feel like I was just looking at a copy of that Michael Gibbs album but talked myself out of it, now I may have to rethink. Thanks, Chris

Hey Christopher! I am sure the Gibbs will be reissued very soon with all the UK jazz interest of late..

I enjoy your videos. Almost every record you show that I haven'y heard I enjoy. Not all that common of an experience for me. Thank you!

You're not a true turntable user until you've broken at least one stylus! 🤣If you've got any, your home contents insurance should cover it.

I thought you had gone with a rasta haircut but it’s just the plant behind you. Lol. The Nyman I found recently as well. Have to grab anything on Obscure when you see it for sure. I broke the stylus on my Bang & Olufsen which is basically impossible to replace here so I feel your pain. Luckily the old workhorse technics I have with an Ortofon cart keeps on trucking. Peace.

Oh yeah man, I can imagine about the Bang & Olufson, they are scandinavian right?

Ha, I also thought James had dreads from where the preview image was frozen with the plant behind him

No backup turntable, James? Tut Tut 😉 Some fantastic finds here that you can look at anyway. That Gymnosphere is a major score. 👌

Good stuff James! I really like that Michael Gibbs. I'm not going to lie, when you said Free Radicals, I immediately thought of that late 90's song and bucket hats lol. That Joy Unlimited sounds great, I'll check it out.

Just out curiosity, James. Now you found the debut album by Michael Gibbs, does that mean some of his later albums will leave the collection? Just me still being puzzled how you keep the collection so lean :) Cheers. /Paul

Bummer about your stylus. Interested to see what you replace it with.

I think its going to be most likely a sidestep, not a side up in terms of upgrades, just because it happened unexpectedly. My shortlist was down to a Denon 103R, or a Nagaoka

I broke my cartridge and claimed it on insurance. Didn't you have a Hana? Are you going to get the same or something different?
