Following my first Unbound 200 Gravel Race, we headed for our home in Bend, Oregon for a month filled with more training and racing adventures. Highlights included 551 miles of racing via the Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder 5 Day Stage Race, Ironman Salem 70.3, and Ironman Lake Placid.

Thank you Wattie and Heather for this video! I have been training for IM 70.3 Wisconsin and when I signed up I was super excited but then training and life's challenges just really started to wear on me and that joy started fading. I contracted Covid and it literally knocked all my lung compacity down to zero. So there was no way I could be ready for Wisconsin. I was pretty down until last week. I decided to shoot for a different goal. I am going to do my first 25k trail race in October and the joy has come back! So hearing you too had lost that joy for awhile too really helped solidify for me that it was ok to take a step back from triathlon and focus on a new adventure! Thank you Heather you're a rockstar and class act!

Thank you for the awesome video. You may not remember but I was the the guy that turned around at Lisa G’s and came back to talk to you and Wattie briefly. That was one of the great highlights of that weekend that I will remember at my first full IM. Thank you for being so gracious.

Lake Placid this year was my first full-distance race. That was after Ironman Mont-Tremblant being cancelled last year, Ironman Canada being cancelled last year, and then having Ironman California cancelled when I had just put my wetsuit on for the race. Lake Placid was really hard but worth it. And getting a medal from Heather at the end was awesome! Congratulations and thank you Heather!

When Joe told me that Heather is just over there I started sprinting or at least I think I did haha. The hug gave me a huge boost of energy. That Sunday was my first full and 2nd ever triathlon but you guys made it so special. Thank you for been part of my journey and I’ll always remember it. Thank you and Wattie for those amazing videos. Hi, just want to say I’m inspired by you! The pictures and videos of you working out, having fun and laughing pushes me to think I can do it. I’m signed up for full Lake Placid Ironman next year 2023. I’ve got a lot of work to do. Learning and reading so much about nutrition. Just wondering what you drink and eat to maintain energy. I’m a newbie and slow at all sports. I’ve done Quassey and 7:47 Lake Placid 70.3. I’m okay with that, but I know I’ll need to get a grip on nutrition. I’m a special teacher and veteran and what I do have grit and love for fitness. I just want to finish race. I’d appreciate it if you could tell me your nutrition routine before, during swim, bike run training for an Ironman. Thanks for showing women of the world they can do it!

Of feck! At 26:11, you read my MIND! I'm not psyched to do Santa Cruz 70.3 because prep has been shitty with health and family stuff the last 2 years. But, this is a pre-covid deferral from when they cancelled Santa Rosa altogether. I'm not feeling competitive in my AG and haven't raced at the pointy end for 3 years. You have no idea how much I need to hear that doesn't matter your prep - just go enjoy. (What other race shuts down the PCH for us to ride on race day?!) Ok...shew....gonna write this as my race day mantra. Thanks, HJ!
