6 Days of searching in the Scottish Highlands, Day 4

Күн бұрынDay 4 was very wet, and it never improved, therefore we stayed close to the hut we had been using as a base camp, and conducted searches in the plantations near Clashgour Farm
The aim was to locate missing hiker Neil Skinner who has been missing for 12 months

It's been super wet hear all day Bill - Mountain rain appears that little bit worse primarily because you can't get away from it. Mind you the bothy there was a luxury you were certainly glad of. Ha, a hardy couple who love the rain. Hat's off to em. I imagine they enjoyed the sound of the water. It can be beautiful but you know it's a force without mercy. Them bogs will take ya and the rivers. Perhaps the chap got taken by a river and isn't in the area any longer. Well, pure speculation. I trust you're well out there bro. All the best. Mark

It's been a wet three months in Scotland, they have had the odd couple of good days but front after front has been hitting the area. Luckily the river ran dry in June so you could walk in the middle of the river for miles down to Bridge of Orchy. The missing hiker had a bad habit of straying, I think he wandered off into the mountains. I want to check a few of the last lower areas and then a team of us are going to hit the mountains when the snow has melted early next year. Sadly another hiker has been missing on the other side of the mountains since early September. That means we could be searching for two hikers in the mountains. @@K9OutdoorsSearchTeam Yea, as you say Bill multiple fronts. Good to hear of the river becoming more accessible but not so good the other missing hiker. Hope you get some joy early next year. My leg? It feels like it's getting stronger but when I go out for a long hard one it can play up. Off out tomorrow for camp in the Black Mountains - another test. Have great day bro.

Have had enough rain...and getting very tired of the heat and humidity...day after day after day... Was asked the other day why I didn't marry and have kids...they really felt sorry for me when I let them know that I raised plenty of other folks kids over 25 years of teaching middle school...and now Otis! LOL I know, Otis and eating grass...yikes! The three...well, maybe the four of you...all seem in your element! All the best and keep safe and warm. Bruce and Otis

If he fell into Abhainn Shira in spate he will be in Loch Tulla? Weather was bad when he disappeared.

Yes I have spoken to a few people and that was our first fear, however after chatting to people on the estate we found out that if anything falls in the Loch and drowns such as deer etc, they collect in a pool that runs off and remain there for days. We know mountain rescue were on the scene within 48 hours so they would have spotted him almost immediately because you can see the pools from the trail.
