Could be weather dependent. I've tested other 150gr loads in warmer weather that were under 2700 fps

Thanks for the test Buffman! I’m curious if you’ll do a test on the newer production Saltech stuff to see if there were any changes in their manufacturing process, I’m seeing a lot of Saltech for sale across multiple sites these days. Keep up the good work!

Just bought a couple cases of this from SG Ammo. Sounds like it'll make loud noises close to me and small holes far away just fine.

Hey just curious when I purchased SG said “observed lots from 2018” but when I received mine going of UN Packing Code on side of can mine was from 2022 (4th section “22” for year and 5th “CH” means Swiss for some reason. 4A/Y22/S/22/CH/073 Was yours current production as well? & how was it thanks for any info

@@mrchris3537 It's "CH" because of "Swiss Confederation" in Latin being abbreviated "CH" - one of those medieval holdovers.

We always want faster.... But it's a good price. Leave the ammo in the sunshine, let it warm up. You will gain velocity. At 200yrds or less.. 2500 is plenty. SH ammo now has it in 50 cal ammo cans. Buy 4.. store them. Thank me later. I doubt you will find better at this price, EVER. In aint 2005 anymore.

You should do a retest in summer to see if the change in season affects the velocities.

Generally speaking it's 1fps per 1 degree change in temperature.

Ok so I tested this ammo yesterday and just did some preliminary 50 yard Zero work and shot clover leaf 5 shot groups 5 times in a row with hot barrel out of my MI-10 suppressed. While that doesn’t extrapolate exactly to 100 yard accuracy as the bullets may not have settled in completely I would estimate 100 yards would be at worst 1.25 MOA. Now that is out of a 16 inch criterion barrel for what it’s worth prone from bipod and rear bag. As soon as I take it to the 600 yard range I’ll report back. Unfortunately this time I only had enough time to confirm 50 yard Zero so that I wouldn’t start from scratch next week after the 2 hour drive to the range.

@Buffman - R.A.N.G.E. Any accuracy results with the MDR, or was it "just bad"? I ask because I own a 20" 308 one and was curious why that data point was omitted.

How do you know the bullet's weight is 150 grain?, even though the packaging is only plain white with no bullet weight information?

AS mentioned in previous videos, typically 7.62 NATO Ball is anywhere from 145-150gr. Most online retailers describe it as 150gr. When I weighed one it was 147gr..

So far I've run 150 rounds plus the 60 my friend ran through it, without issues, except 1 dud primer on Malaysian surplus. 12 different ammo types, 8 of which were old surplus.

So you total skipped the fact that SGAmmo _doesn't_ call it NATO, it _doesn't_ have the NATO Cross on the headstamp, and the Swiss _aren't_ a NATO country? No wonder it seems slow to you. Shoots well in my PSA AR-10.

7.62x51mm, is also short handed 7.62 NATO, as to easily clarify it's not 7.62x39mm, or some other 7.62 caliber round. I comment on the fact that it's slower, because I've tested PMC's 308 Win, and 7.62 NATO at 2800+ in the 22". So even given a bump in 50 fps for temp, it's still slow. I didn't say that was a bad thing at all. However there are some who watch my videos, want FULL power loads for their own accord, and that's why I do these :D

I don't think the velocity will get up to 2800 f.p.s under reasonable conditions, it has quite a way to go. Accuracy has been good (for me). At least you can provide accurate velocities for anyone who is looking at buying some. Test is worthwhile.

Switzerland is not part of NATO
