el duderino Don't worry, I'm 30 and I've re-evaluated again already. My tests concluded that between gaming a lot, watching puppet shows online and watching people on KZfaq talk about video games, or even better, watching people on KZfaq use puppets to talk about video games, it's been a life well spent for the both of us thus far. 😀 Pardon me: I have to go back to my PS4 now -- it needs me.

Think he covered the fighting games as a whole with Ryu and Ken. You could pick two characters from any fighting game and put them in this list honestly. I think Rob was smart to only add one of them.

What I hate about the Templars/Assassins rivalry is they keep going back and blurring the lines between them. I mean there is actually an Assassin who joins the Templar in one of the games. There is media written in the Assassin Creed universe that may not be canon, but where there is a sect of Templars who are using the Assassin's tactics against them.

I wouldn't have put stormcloaks and imperials on this. Instead, I would have put Casltlevania Dracula and hector, Gravity Rush Kat and Raven, Twisted Metal Sweet Tooth and Calypso, Transformers Megatron and Optimus, For Honor Knights, Samurai and Vikings, Yu Gi Oh Kaiba and Yugi, Sonic and eggman, Doom soldier and that demon thing that keeps coming back as the end boss, and probably a lot more but it's really hard to pick a really good rivalry without nintendo coming to mind.

Really enjoyed the video PS Access team. Here's some more rivalries although if we cared to study all the epic rivalries out there in the GamingVerse this video might never have finished. Tekken - Kazuya and Heihachi Street Fighter - Guile and Bison!? Mortal Kombat - Raiden and Shao Khan Onimusha - Samanosuke Akechi and Nobunaga Sengoku Basara - Sanada Yukimura and Date Masamune Yakuza - Kazuma and Nishiki Too many rivalries...but all intended for good reasons.

Yes, but batman and the joker didn't start in videogames. Otherwise I could also say goku and vegeta, groudon and kyogre, basically any movie turned into a game, etc.

I'm aware they started in comics, but you commented that the Batman games aren't actual video games. I do understand where you're coming from, but I still think it's acceptable to appreciate the take on Batman and Joker from the Arkham series

I didn't state at all that batman aren't actual video games. I played them and loved them. That's the other guy. My point is still valid though, I think characters that originated from other types of media shouldn't count. There are lots of characters that originated in games (mario + bowser for example) that would earn a place before batman and the joker, since they are comic characters.

If you want rivalry that last a long time, Jedi vs. Sith, those two groups been fighting +5000 years from KOTOR to Jedi Academy (There was a sith lord in that one I think, or was that Jedi Outcast?). Where Kratos and Zeus (Two Games to Resolve) Nemisis 9sp?) and Jill from RE3. Maybe Batman and Joker from Arkham Series. There are so many you missed...

I seem to recall that in the Dissidia titles for the PSP, Sephiroth at one point actually tells another character (cannot remember if it was Warrior of Light or Firion) that he has to go confront Cloud, and specifically referrs to it as "fulfilling my obligation"... Dunno about you guys, but to me that sounds like Sephiroth's going "it's in my contract with Squeenix that I have to fight Cloud at some point during the story of this game, so I suppose I might as well get it over with."
