Our mental health is not about what kind of thoughts arrive into our thinking, but more about how we RESPOND to our thoughts that is the issue. Working through OCD or any kind of mental health battle involves learning to heal how we interpret our thoughts and the meaning we give our thoughts. For many who struggle with obsessive and compulsive battles, it is time to fire our interpreter and walk into new patterns in how we relate to our thoughts. In today's broadcast, I want to bring out nine common filters that OCD strugglers have when it comes to their thoughts.

Mark, I am rather new to your channel and I gotta admit, at first I was somewhat skeptical of you. I was thinking "yeah right, this guy is just another 'shrink'" But after listening to your videos, I gotta repent of that and say, some of the things you have gone over and spoken about really hit a sore spot. Some of the scenarios you have talked about sounded like me to a T. Your videos have helped me to discover that a lot of my stuff is just me. Thank you and thank God for you.

I went through the same thing when I first discovered Mark's channel. The fear is if I relax for once will I fall away from God? As if we are the author and finisher of our faith and not God.

This hits me in all the areas of my thoughts. I just tell myself to be Holy Spirit minded, but it doesn't work. I want to heal from ocd, but it's very troubling.

I don't want to be dependent on any other human or any earthly circumstance for anything. I want to just live 100% in God's love and be filled with that so I can love God, love myself and love all of Gods creation. But I'm learning the right headspace to be in. I get so brought down by feelings and interpretations. They get so heavy. Like I can't choose to be happy and grateful. So I wrestle so much.

I'm just on burdensome and yes the pressure and anger at myself led me here. Back to you. I don't knew how you made it through this let alone being able to label and help us so well. It must be the Holy Spirit, Grace and Love of our father in heaven. Thankyou from the deepest area of my heart ♥

What im recently dealing with is fear that behind my reactions/thoughts are a bigger problem. Its not harm ocd thoughts its more like something happens and i have a bad reaction to that, i struggle with the emotion and suddenly im afraid i have trauma and this gives more weight to these thoughts/emotions. Listening your videos when you talk about parenting wounds, just triggers this feelings more. Usually i would ignore these but now it makes me feel scared and ashamed that i might avoid dealing with a problem i have because of fear...

Hey Mark! Quick question. What did you mean when you said we can’t always have super positive thinking and that if we do, then we’re in denial? I keep getting these intrusive thoughts saying that I’m something that I REALLY don’t think I am, and when intrusive thoughts related to that accusation pop up in my head it only validates the accusation even more. I try to be positive and ignore the thoughts like you have suggested in some of your other videos, but, I’m now really confused, because you said if our thinking is hyper positive and then it’s not healthy thinking and could even mean we’re in denial. Will you please help me to understand what you meant by this? Because, when i ignore these thoughts, the thought of “me being in denial” pops up in my head. Please help me understand.

to be in denial is to not acknowledge that anything bad has ever happened to you or did ever. You acknowledge that your thoughts are troubling and are aware. People who live in denial live purposefully over positive to try to ignore any issues that could be happening. However you see it and need a gentle redirect into a more positive state of mind, not a form of blindness but a form of peaceful thinking which rests in our trust in the lord because he is love.
