It's that time of the month when we get to dust off the Time Machine and try out something new! For April, we're trying out this Chocolate Sheet Cake from a 1986 Eagle Brand ad.
It bakes in 15 minutes and is seriously one of the easiest cakes I've ever made... and it's all from scratch!

INGREDIENTS:
CAKE:
1 cup margarine or butter
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup water
2 cups unsifted flour
1½ cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk from a 14 ounce can
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
FROSTING:
¼ cup margarine or butter
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
remaining sweetened condensed milk from a 14 ounce can
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 cup chopped nuts

I love the cinnamon and chocolate with the nuts !! I feel like I had this cake in the 80s . I need to give this cake a try. Yummmm.

Thank you!! I didn’t really think about it before I started baking, but once I started mixing the batter, and especially once it was baking, I was like that smell is so familiar… Abuelita Hot Chocolate!! 🤣 I loved the nuts in this too! Simple and tasty!!

I love this retro recipe, Maikoh! The combination of condensed milk, chocolate and nuts is always a winner! I loved the editing in this video too; cutting back to you explaining the steps was really good! I wouldn't be mad at thick frosting! 😻😻

Still trying to get comfortable in front of the camera and having a hard time remembering more than like 3 words at a time 😂 but it helps fill in gaps where I don’t have enough footage 😅😅😂 Nothing wrong with the frosting the way I made it 😂 Still perfectly tasty haha

Bahah thank you!! This was a fun one, every time I walked back in the room, I kept feeling like I was walking onto the set of an 80s movie 😂 And the cake is so good! Like I’m still amazed how quick and easy it was!

Hahaha! Thank you!! It came out soo good! 😋 I was so pleasantly surprised at how good this is, especially for being so simple, in terms of ingredients, and from an 80s ad 😂 I'm actually surprised at how few pre-packaged ingredients went into this recipe 😂 I've noticed a lot of the recipes from the 50s-80s used a lot of those: cake mixes, cool whip, bisquick, jello, etc. And thanks!! Haha I love the shades too!!

Haha yes!! I’m actually surprised there’s not a stronger butter flavor 🤔😂 The strongest flavors are definitely the chocolate and cinnamon!

I would consider myself a chocolate lover and yeah this is totally a dream come true! I've never heard of a sheet cake but this is awesome! Can't go wrong with cinnamon and I love the pecans here! Awesome video and really in love with the frosting!

@@Maikoh The downsides of baking sheets. All of them are thin aluminum, stainless steel, or carbon steel.

Haha, I think I was looking at the numbers for the flour when measuring the sugar 😂 But it came out awesome either way
