What a beautiful place to live and work. The air must be so clean and fresh and you get to see the mountains everyday. A truly inspiring life.

Oh seriously it’s so fresh to breathe the Cordova air :) it smells fishy by the dock sometimes but everywhere in town and in the woods is so refreshing

Awesome video man. My grandmother is from Cordova, moved to Phoenix, Arizona when she was like 25 and always talked about it when I grew up. Loved hearing her Cordova stories. It’s just as beautiful as she would say.

Right! I want to do another better tour video in the future so you get a real good sense of the place. This video does not do it justice, I recorded it last year when I first started learning how to film 😅I’ve gotten better now, keep your eyes out for another one!

Very fair lol I actually filmed this last year and it was my first attempts at making content, it was pretty bad ey? hehe... Anyways, I've filmed another one this year, I'm editing it now. If you stick around I think you'll like it a lot better. It will include local hikes, shops, food, and scenery to give you a better sense of what Cordova really is. I hope not to disappoint this time, and if I do, you're welcome to let me know in the comments. And, of course, thank you for your genuine feedback.

Back in 1998 the taco truck was over by the harbor master office, fresh fish tacos every time we came in from fishing.

I remember that walk from hippie cove to Cordova and visa versa when I was stuck out there. The Marine Star boat had kicked me off the boat because this Muslim dude and I kept fighting because I wouldn't convert to Islam. I believe the guy was from Pakistan

Cool. How much do you need to earn per year there to have a decent lifestyle? Do you think you need a 4 x 4 or would a regular front wheel drive car be ok? Similar to Sitka? I don’t really know anything about Sitka except that it seems to be another relatively small waterfront Alaskan town.

EzE Eze you ask solid questions, as far as a decent lifestyle goes, it depends on what you call decent. Groceries and property are more expensive there so you need to make more than you would in the lower 48 for a similar lifestyle. But, I know one man who lives there for $1000/year. He uses it mostly for food and supplies so he can go meander the mountains most of the spring and summer. Then he hunkers down for fall and winter. If you forage for food and don’t own property then you can live anywhere for nearly no cash. You can always start at hippie cove and see what kind of life you can build there.

As far as the car goes, they say every mile you drive in Cordova does 5 miles on your vehicle, so if you drive 100,000miles in Cordova, your vehicle will be as beaten as it would be at 500,000miles! Any car will do, buuuuut to really enjoy all that Cordova has to offer you may want an all wheel drive with good suspension

RT Living Free I see. I was more thinking renting an apartment. I’m not so much the forager nor a hippie. I’m not a party animal either. I’d like to stay out of fights, meet some good people and enjoy the area LOL. I heard food is super expensive in Alaska so I thought you’d need like 30 K per year minimum if you were shopping at supermarkets. Good info about the 4x4. Do some people get by there without a vehicle? How? Occasional taxi to town for food and supplies? I’m guessing buying a vehicle there is crazy expensive. Best come with one.
