A Day In The Life Of The Rich And Famous: Diana Ross [1984]

I watch this ALL THE TIME TO THIS DAY.. like… I always come back to it at times when I need it.. and I get something new from it EVERY TIME. This young woman was running her own business like any powerbroker at that time, and that is PHENOMENAL when you think about it. She really was (and still is) THE BOSS of her own life and the decision maker and leader. She had children then, a thriving career in music and also successful business ventures..she did it all.. and for that she deserves to be lauded.. even today.

I love this video. The business side of Diana Ross is just as great as the mother,human being and the awesome entertainer that she is. What an example she is for others. I can't say that enough.

So true, a lot of stars continue to let their record company or whoever handle all their money and one day they wake up and have nothing... Madonna knew this important part of being in the business from the start.
@dddddadadad17963 жыл бұрын
And the fact that she had the presence of mind to begin to start running ALL her own affairs, from albums to big business, and finances is just JAW DROPPING... I wonder how many here know that the building her offices was housed in at this time, SHE OWNED. To see all this... again... is just STAGGERING. Miss Ross really DID just stand UP, and took control and took charge. THAT IS AMAZING

I always loved this....no other superstar was doing what Diana was doing in this stage of her career. No other bigger performer...she was the biggest star in the world at this time...👍✔️

Michael was the biggest star at the time.

@@MiamiPush2theLimit Diana put Michael in the game, she made Michael take off 🤣😂🤣 *Diana presented Michael on his first recorded album *Diana introduced Michael on national television (Ed Sullivan) *Diana introduced Michael to being a nightclub act via her stage show *Diana took him to the Academy Awards (twice) when he was still young (14 and 21) *Diana put Michael in her nationally televised concert specials Without Diana, there was no Michael as we know him. Diana put him on.... #facts. 🤔😮

@@dtrn254 I know all that. I’m just saying Michael was more famous than Diana in 1984.
@nakitawilliams4259 Жыл бұрын
@@dtrn254 you’re right but he still ended up not being more famous and surpassing her & she would agree……Dance wise, performance, impact, musically ( given that he wrote a lot of his stuff ) and vocally surpassed her in all categories. Just like berry put her on…..y’all need to stop trying to discredit what Michael did and giving other ppl credit for his success, cause y’all wouldn’t like it if ppl said if ir wasn’t for berry gordy and Florence or Mary creating the supremes lt wouldn’t be no diana

@@nakitawilliams4259 🤣🤣😂 prolly like 3 of you left who still scrounge Diana videos to bring up no name group members with failed careers. Diana WON that competition 50 years ago. As far as Michael goes, he woulda of told you himself, Diana is the GOAT. Case closed 🔐

It's interesting that by 1984, her entire companies were up and running. But the "Ross Records" insignia did not happen until 1991's "The Force Behind the Power" which became one of her most successful international releases. Her publishing company had over 30 songs co-penned by her. She had undertaken at least two huge world tours from 1982 in support of "Why Do Fools/Silk Electric", "For One and For All World Tour '83, "Swept Away '85 and then '1989 "World Stage" and 1991-92 "Here and Now"!

@Damo Trent Vanity label in truth. It's a shame that the last few albums didnt have much success, cause I think they're her best work. Every Day is a New Day was a brilliant album

At 2:22 thru 2:30 you can tell in her speaking voice that she influenced Michael Jackson.

How interesting that she didn't get a cosmetics line or fragrance until decades later. I wonder why so many of her projects fell through?
@mic64344 жыл бұрын
@Laurence Swensson why because she's an ambitious woman who knows how to say "no"?..Such a sexist double standard.

@Laurence Swensson But lots of stars are difficult to work with, cold and testy (see the perfumer/nose who worked with Madonna on her fragrance line. Look at the torture she put him through.)
@Kreatures100 Жыл бұрын
She didn’t stay long with this office full of workers. They developed a tv special and had a simplicity pattern and some retail pantyhose but no theatrical movies or cosmetic products. She did have a few tv movies. Rihanna has a billion dollar business with cosmetics. Diana was the brand ambassador for Mac for a year. It was a different time for women in business. Her performances always kept her wealthy and busy so she didn’t really need much else. And she is still performing!!

She in Michael Jackson were secretly in love @ this time. Hence the initial hesitation to talk about her love life. Cannot wait for their true love story to come out.

Monica Rivera Yes, they were both in love with themselves.

No they were in love with each other. On/Off love affair had been going on for years.

What color is the sky in your world? Michael Jackson had about as much interest in sleeping with women as Sarah Palin does in constructing a coherent sentence. Having an on/off love affair? Yeah, right and Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real.

Brian Holland said he wrote Baby Love for Diana because though he was married with kids he'd fallen in love with the 19 yr. Old...she must be really something to have these men shook...she said she never had to shake her ass to get a man (in reference to Mary Wilson) I believe her.
@MiamiPush2theLimit3 жыл бұрын
She wasn’t referring to Mary Wilson. Mary was much more attractive than Diana at that time anyway.
@dddddadadad17962 жыл бұрын
@@MiamiPush2theLimit both are WRONG. The comment she made was that she did NOT wiggle her hips and bat her eyes at the men in the audience. And the comment WAS in reference to Mary Wilson

Maybe she lied because of the awkward age difference between them, and meeting him when he was a child.
@jackanthony9765 жыл бұрын
Well of course she does not have a man. Most heterosexual men would not want to compete with the powerful Miss Ross. You can't have it all. That is not how life works.
@jtexas46295 жыл бұрын
I think in terms of control. Maybe they thought she’d be a controlling woman? And being who she was she probably was. The fact is she ended up marrying a powerful guy. I think powerful women need powerful men otherwise it doesn’t work out.

That’s stupid. Michael was most definitely straight and it’s so funny that you say that considering a lot of straight men would dream to have a woman like Diana and MJ was one of them.
