Call me (happily) shocked to see Nakadai on a video thumbnail in my subscribed channels today.. my favorite actor, period. I have not seen this film, as u said hard to find some Japanese films in the states..sounds like something I'd like. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it!

Haha that's a nice surprise. Yeah Nakadai really is a legend, it's pretty amazing he's still acting and swinging his sword at the age of 90. May he never leave us.

Just buy if you can. Its worth. If you think its difficult to find in states… Imagine me! I am brazilian; and, thanks to my japanese preferences on watching many unknown chambaras (even in EUA), I had to watch in english subtitles; I think my English improved. That wasn't the primary objective (the main thing was to watch the thread, that's right)... Thanks japanese cinema.

Nakadai does not have to return to fame. He is famous, as famous as Mifune Toshiro.

Good movie, the direction is in the melodrama side but I really love Tatsuya Nakadai here and the ending hits hard. What a legend.

I’d like to write him some day and tell him how mutch his films meant to me I watched Yojimbo with my father as a kid we didn’t know who he was back then

Wow! I saw this movie on a flight between my home in Bangkok and visiting my parents in America back in 2016. I couldn't find it anywhere. Didn't know it was a TV movie. Maybe that's why I couldn't find a DVD of it locally at the Japanese DVD sections at Patpong.

@@bushidoblues9302 Yeah the flights from SE Asia to America are super long (About 14 hours) so they load the in flight entertainment up with not just mainstream US cinema, but also films from Thailand, Vietnam, China/Hong Kong/Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

I don’t think of Nakadi as a chambera actor I see his as a dramatic actor who did do a lot of samurai films but he acted in many other kind of films he is a treasure of not just J cinema but world cinema he got to work on great movies with great directors

Nakadai is so amazing on this marterpiece... I mean, I cried a lot wnd like a stupid teenager (and that doesnt happen frequently - excepcion for japanese movies)...As a ”Heya-zumi” (essentially a freeloader living off his family), Nakadai ( Sanosuke) has one last chance to help his grandniece escape from the cruel samurai of an arranged marriage and the fate forces him into a deadly duel. Actess Nanami Samuraba (the grandniece) and Nakadai relationship of grandniece - grandfather is the best (they really seems family). Of course that what I wanted with this movie initially Washington watch Nakadai with a sword and being a badass... Well, Nakadai proves that he "always had it and still has!"... Just watch, enjoy and keep a lot of handkerchiefs next... Just in case.

Straight to tv movies, or just many movies in general here in the west suck; dull, boring, and they're all carbon copies of one another. One of the best parts about much of Japanese cinema and or entertainment is the provocation of thought; not to mention the true and utter craftsmanship that is put into their works. In short: I'M JEALOUS!!!

I think a dual tale is more focussed of a film, easier to follow yes…but more focussed and the action is better too. That is my opinion, I know you disagree. I also think the relationship is more engaging between characters, whereas in The Return I could never fully sympathize
