In this China vlog, I am in Shanghai for a quick pass-through and head down to the Bund. Shanghai is the one city you should visit in China if you want to see it for yourself and verify the China experience.

Shanghai in my opinion has long surpassed New York as the world's must see city but sadly a lot of Westerners would not recognise this. A lot of other Westerners think that China is just Beijing, Shanghai & maybe Hong Kong (for those less ignorant who recognise as being a part of China) they think the rest of China is poor but they don't realise China is blessed with many amazing modern cities. Tianjin, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing, Xian, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen & many many more. Shanghai should always be at the top of everybody's bucket list but so should a lot more amazing Chinese cities.

From my personal experience, I have lived in Paris, Strasbourg, Geneva, and Stuttgart. In terms of food, accommodation, transportation, and money-making opportunities, Shanghai is the best choice.

I've visited Shanghai few years ago. It a beautiful city and I love to go back. The Chinese authority has give 15 days visa waver to many countries, except the UK and theAmericans. It's understandable due to political reasons.

It’s ok not to read this but it’s helping me to write it The music you often play on your videos is particularly making me cry today. How apt that I chose not to watch your video yesterday. You see today is exactly a year since my mum was last conscious. She woke up, was helped to wash and dress by the nursing home carers. Everything was as usual until lunchtime and then she just froze. She stopped being conscious. By the time I got there she was lying on her bed. She looked so peaceful. Just sleeping. I visited her a few times and she always looked to be peacefully sleeping. Five days later she stopped breathing. And my heart has been shattered ever since. - Things will never be the same as they were a year ago - Mum was 93. She had had a good life but you don’t get to that age without your share of sorrows. Moving on to talk about Shanghai. One of my language partners had invited me to WuHu. He had visited me in Leeds and paid close attention to how my carer helped me so he knows what he is letting himself in for! I have booked my flights to and from Shanghai. I had promised my mum I wouldn’t come to China because she wanted me to be nearer home and to only go away for a week or two. Gosh. I would much sooner please my mum than anything else so it was an easy thing to promise. But now I can travel when I want to. Mum wasn’t anti China. She was just frightened of being alone. We didn’t live together but our hearts were close My language partner had plans to show me as much as possible, bearing in mind that I can only manage at the most one or two hours “up” time a day out every few days but I think I can make that a bit longer when I’m travelling on China’s wonderful train system. And I will need days to recover from every expedition. I am stronger during uk summers so we picked September/October for my four week stay in China Many years ago I wouldn’t go on holidays because I thought it wasn’t worth it if I got less than 10% of what others managed out of their holidays. But that 10% has given me a great deal of pleasure and happy memories. Many of those holidays were with my mum, but not all. A Taiwanese language partner invited me to stay and to look after me for three months some time ago. It was after that that my mum asked me to not go away for so long and so far away again. It was easy to promise. Tbh I couldn’t afford it anyway. Taiwan was beautiful and I’m very grateful that I was invited. Tbh I don’t need a lot of looking after. I just don’t take my turn at cooking, cleaning, types of things and I need to be left behind to rest a lot. I’m leaving it up to my Chinese 网友 to organise our excursions and accommodation. But he loves Shanghai so I expect I will get to see it for myself. If not, I will at least catch glimpses as I traverse from the airport to the train station Sorry I’ve wittered on but it’s helped me writing this and I’ve just about stopped crying now ❤❤❤

Nice to see you visiting SH Ian. The city is very different in 90’s when I grew up there. My late grandmother used to live very close to the bund at the Jewish quarter. However, those buildings are long gone now. It brings lots of memories from your beautiful video. I should visit it more often. Greetings from Ireland 🎉

'The first heroin ‘shooting gallery’ in the UK is to be launched in Scotland’s biggest city - at a cost of more than £ 2million a year. Addicts in Glasgow will be able to inject heroin and cocaine in a hygienic environment with medical staff on hand, without the threat of prosecution for possession of Class A drugs. The Scottish Government-funded project was approved in a virtual meeting yesterday. It will open in Hunter Street in the East End of the city, in the same building as an NHS drug treatment facility where the worst addicts are injected with pharmaceutical-grade heroin. There were 1,051 deaths from drugs misuse in Scotland in 2022, down 279 on the previous year - but the country remains Europe’s drug deaths capital. Glasgow City Integration Joint Board, which involves NHS and council officials, approved the shooting gallery plan.' - 28 September 2023 Daily Mail.

I always prefer smaller cities though. such big cities with huge population, there must be some restrict rules to manage it. that unavoidably makes your life not that convenient. and people's connection are much weaker than those in smaller cities or villages.
