You are right in your caveat. It's how you see the purpose of your social. Our goal in all our communications is to show we are kind, friendly and approachable in our academic library, then folks are more likely to access us when they need us. It is very unlikely that a student or faculty member will click through at the time of the post, especially if it is about a research tool. It may lodge in the back of their mind and at the point of need (which is when they come to us) they vaguely remember something and/or feel comfortable approaching. However, this kind of content we shy away from. We focus on participating as part of a community in the academic institution and service. Students/faculty are bombarded with enough heavy stuff. They don't need it from us 🙂
