I purchased 2022 Aviator Black Label Grand Touring. Love it and those 494 horses definitely make it feel like a sports car. The interior luxury sets it apart. Had a friend who just purchased a 2023 GLE AMG and couldn't stop talking about the high level of luxury. My work commute is very far and I have visited the gas station once in three months.

I’ve got a 2019 and one of the first off the line. I waited 6 months for my black label hybrid. I think there are only two in all of Ohio. We are retired and use it to go everywhere and feel very safe in any weather. My wife has a black belt in shopping so it fits anything she wants in the back. I like it for the HP and torque getting on the highway. The heads up display is fantastic. The car can hold everything we need for a long trip including our travel Kerurig. The sound system is better then any car we previously owned.

Ford / Lincoln dealerships make the purchase process a nightmare. They extremely undervalue your trade-in by $3000 to $5000. The vehicles are great but how you have to buy them is why a lot of people no longer purchase Lincolns and fords. We purchased our BMW in roughly 45 minutes. At the Lincoln dealership we didn't even get seen for over an hour and a half just for them to tell us that we have to put down another $5000 if you want our payment to be the same as our trade-in. Our BMW payment is lower than our trade-in and the sticker was higher than the Corsair.

Really love how the Aviator looks. It's perhaps the most handsome three-row midsize luxury crossover. The interior is a homerun too. Just sad that Lincoln is veering from that traditionally luxurious design to the flashy all-screen look that won't age well interior as seen in the new Nautilus.

@The-fs5wn
@The-fs5wn 10 ай бұрын
The Nautilus really isn’t that flashy. It’s more wood and leather than chrome and lights. It still has that nice Rolls Royce/Range Rover horizontal dash design and the screen is much more cleanly integrated than any of the competitors. The seating and door design is entirely traditional luxury, albeit with those illuminated black plates on the top-front side of the front doors. Still true to form.

Take all the vehicles you have mentioned and drive over a set of railway tracks at 20mph. We did. While not perfect in all departments, we found the seats and drive comfort of the Aviator second to none. Only the Escalade and Navigator were comparable. Why on earth would you spend so much $ on a vehicle if you prefer to "feel the road"? It is definitely more comfortable than the $130K Mercedes GLS with it's strange (personal preference) hand grip center console design, in which you can feel every pebble on the highway, never mind a gravel road. The Volvo was worse. Driving to work, shopping, etc is well within the 21 mile EV-only range (for us in particular) so we hope to drive emission free for 60% of our driving which in our opinion is why some are willing to spend extra for a PHEV, not the fuel economy. Just my opinion but this seems like a comfortable and luxurious transitional vehicle for those of us who want to do what we can to preserve the air our grandchildren breath, but are not yet willing to give up the comforts and convenience of an ICE for long distance driving. I'm not sure if this one will last 13 years like my Navigator did but I sure hope so. If I'm still around, next vehicle may be a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle if we ever get the infrastructure built. Thank you very much for your updated review of the 2023 PHEV Aviator. Ours is built and should arrive at the dealer within the next few weeks.

@@Qrail Thanks for that. Good to know it's doable. Trying to decide whether to buy outright or lease. Have read a few articles recommending leasing primarily due to questionable reliability but I don't really understand how that would benefit me since I'm obligated to maintain the vehicle whether or not I own it or lease it and I'm locked into the term of the lease regardless. Leasing costs more overall so there is no advantage from that perspective or am I missing something. Always thought leases were for customers not able to purchase outright ... or have a business expense option for the payments.? Any thoughts?

@@justforfun321 you might be able to get certain tax benefits (PHEV “rebate” which I think is a tax credit). I don’t know in what state you live. Check with your CPA. IRS form 8936 and rule 25. Don’t quote me on this. On the reliability, you will have a factory warranty, and if you maintain the car, you should be fine. I take mine to the dealer annually, so they can catch anything I missed or am unaware of.

@@Qrail O.K. Thanks very much for the reply. So no specific advantage to leasing over owning then? Yes, we take it to our dealer for regular scheduled maintenance, etc. as well. The comments I had read implied that you would be better off having a lease if you end up with a lemon. I just don't see it since you have a warrantee either way. Unfortunately we no-longer get a PHEV rebate for luxury vehicles here in Ontario ... in fact we have the honor of paying a 20% tax on any amount above 100K . Sadly, Navigators may suffer north of the 49th Parallel. Thank you again for the reply.

Not sure if this has anything to do with their sales, but I’ve found that many more people who aren’t in to cars know that Lincoln and Cadillac are premium brands of Ford and GM respectively than those who know that Acura, Lexus and Infiniti are premium brands of Honda, Toyota and Nissan. Many “non-car folks” I’ve spoken to think that the Japanese premium brands are their own separate brands and not associated with a “cheap” brand. Many, many people who are buying from a premium brand do so largely for brand snobbery, so maybe that matters to them. People do irrational things. Lincoln is also associated with old people or “old money”, maybe even more than Cadillac. There is also the perception of increased quality in German cars (although I’d challenge that perception), and increased reliability in Japanese vehicles (which is probably true, but not as true as it used to be).

@naveenthemachine
@naveenthemachine Жыл бұрын
@@appleiphone69 not entirely on VW vs Audi. On their inexpensive cars like the golf TT a3 q3 sure they share a lot but that’s fine since they’re inexpensive But if you look at more expensive VWs and Audis none of them share anything from one another. For example the VW atlas doesn’t share a single thing with the Audi q7 and vice versa. The atlas uses a Toyota 8 speed and a turbo 4. The q7 uses a more powerful turbo 4 oriented longitudinally along with the zf 8 speed transmission. Plus the AWD systems aren’t the same VW vs Audi. Audi uses Quattro while VW uses 4Motion. They aren’t the same and the 4Motion doesn’t have a rear power bias The cross sport doesn’t share anything with a q8 or Porsche cayenne in platforms engine’s transmissions or suspension systems But Toyota vs Lexus however that’s a different story. Just about every engine or transmission the RX has you’ll also find in lesser Toyotas. The turbo 4 is used in a base $35K highlander. The hybrid comes right from the Camry and rav4. The PHEV comes from the rav4. The turbo hybrid is also used in the crown and grand highlander hybrid max. So none of the powertrains here offer any exclusivity.

I think the Aviator's main market problem is the donor platform, the Ford Explorer, can be had for less with pretty much all of the same preferred options. Regarding the split thigh support. Think of the benefit for long drives. Driving East cross-country on I-80 that split would be a blessing. Lift the right-side up high and you help avoid leg cramps.

I think Ford really cheaped out on the interior of the Explorer and even if it was equipped with similar options as the Lincoln, it would still appear as a significantly downmarket vehicle. So even when coughing up a lot more money for the black label trim, you still get a net of sub par materials like the piano black easy to scratch center console trim. And the section at the top of the door panels is also less than it should be. Infotainment screen could be bigger along with the back seat console screen. Perhaps Lincoln needs to add an Ultra Summit Super Duper Black Label Trim to address those issues.

Ford reliability AND dealer experience keep this vehicle on the dealer lot. For me personally I just think the more square boxy shape of the XT6 looks better. I do agree the Lincoln interior is more plush.

Yeah but xt6 is worse than the explorer on the inside and has less tech than a 90s Mercedes

I looked at it as a replacement of my leased Ford Escape Hybrid, however I found out that the dealer was not approved by Lincoln because they did not have any employees that were certified for PHEV's. Add to that the price of $70K+ for so few miles electric miles. Just not ready for prime time.
