Dante could give into the rage, sure. Relive that classic duel? Okay sure.... Or Dante is a smart leader. If they write Dante correctly, he rocks up to face Abaddon and Abaddon mocks him, "I will kill you like Horus killed your gene sire". Dante shrugs, "I am not here to fight, I am just here to hold Mephiston's beer". Abaddon cries softly

When Abaddon enters that throne room there will be two angels waiting for him. Dante, empowered by the light angel, and Mephiston empowered by the dark.

Why would they even be there? They have duties in Imperium Nihilus. Also what happened to the Custodes and Sisters of Silence? Dante is pretty great but Trajan Valoris would beat him every time. Why is Guilliman not involved? There are just so many weird things about that prophecy...

@@wanderhillen2435 it'll be a case of a siege is underway and Abaddon has snuck in. The angels will have had a premonition and heading in to the throne room to meet him. Trajen and G man no doubt busy holding the gates and commanding to army. Perhaps it's a teleport strike.

i love Dante, so I hope they do him justice and have him enough of a leader to not engage in direct combat, to let Mephiston go ahead and solo Abaddon (and everyone else). Dante is amazing, but Mephiston is 20x (or even more) deadly than Dante. And they should write Mephiston well also, Mephiston should be very protective of Dante. Mephiston should make sure he is present to take up any 1 v 1.

@@kccustodes2618 I mean Mephiston is obviously very powerful, but he's not described as a far better than Dante I don't think? Hes the 2nd most powerful psycher in the Imperium though. On the tabletop they are both pretty good. It would sense for them to gang up on Abbadon I think, kinda the two sides of the angel, Light and dark.

No the other guy is right Mephiston is so powerful now I don’t see how even a primarch could beat him. The guy can stop time, bring people back too life, fly through the warp. He’s basically like Magnus at this point. You can certainly argue they have overbooked him but unless they go back on all the stuff they’ve written about him he is just that ridiculously op and would surely beat abnadon

I can only see Dante beating Abbadon if he first crosses the Rubicon, but also using the black rage with the furnace also active on top of that. The fury and tenacity of the rage coupled with the healing and combat stims of the furnace sounds like it'd be too much for Abbadon to handle.

@Nice Brain The Bellisarian Furnace (really humble there, Cawl) is one of the Primaris implants. It strengthens the body in extreme duress, and accelerates healing as well as stimulates combat prowess.

I thought the furnace was a finale hurrah thing for Primaris, once its activated it gives them a last boost of strength to fight back before they die?

i heard that dante has crossed the rubicon and that they will show him off in the new archs of omen series (dont quote me i could be wrong) if they do fight i bet dante will have a hard time figuring out if hes fighting as himself or as sanguinius bouncing in and out of the black rage

If memory serves me right, there was a chaplain named Thalastian Jorus who fought Abaddon during his 7th Black Crusade in M37. Jorus would become one of the few Imperial heroes to successfully strike Abaddon, who apparently still bears the scars today. It wasn't any sort of mortal blow, but this was still long before the Primaris were a thing, so it is still relatively feasible to fight him as a Firstborn. Unlikely, but far from impossible

Yeah, but it's even better than that. He fucked Abaddon up so much that he had to call it quits and leave, so it's possible that he nearly straight up killed him.

As an Angels player, I would love to see Dante dismantle Abbadon with it played out aboard the vengeful spirit. He loses himself to the rage and takes Abbadon out in an epic duel but is lucid enough at the end of the fight that as he succumbs to his many wounds, he gets to witness his victory before he is beckoned to the other side by Sanguiniuswho it turns out is corporeal and has now manifested in reality due to the ripples in the warp caused by the warmaster's death. Let us not forget that sanguinius' soul "lives on" in the crystalline structures aboard the Vengeful Spirit where the veil between the materium and the warp is particularly thin. Beyond Dante it would have to be the sheer ferocity of the force of nature that is Logan Grimnar who kills Abbadon. If memory serves, didn't he tango with Magnus and survive?

Yes, Grimnar dueled Magnus. Magnus was surprised at the sheer ferocity of Logan. I mean this is the guy that sprints in Terminus plate.

Yes, because you play a faction, you'd like the entire lore to revolve around them and work in their favour....of course it'd be so sweet if they took something characterful about the Vengeful Spirit and made it a plot device for corporeal Sanguinius!! Yet another great "fan" of the lore.

The thought of this fight taking place on the vengeful spirit makes it all the better. Dante would certainly lose to Abaddon but through intervention of mephitine overpowering Abaddon's retainers. A interesting side plot would be the possibility of shard of Sanguinius's soul stuck on the vengeful spirit similar to Magnus's soul being shattered. Recovering this soul shard and retreating with objective complete and prioritizing Dante's life would go along with the changing of fate theme from the previous blood angel books. The combination of the crossing of the Rubicon and Sanguinius's soul would give that importance to Dante evolving beyond his current physical state. Fitting of the lord of imperium nihilus.

Given how unexpectedly powerful Dantes Primarch Sanguinius seemed to become towards the end of the Heresy in recent lore, Abbadon might be in for a surprise from the ancient Blood Angel if they were ever to battle.

Yeah, this is what I been thinking and saying. Dante is not the equal of Abaddon and is smart enough to know this. Dante beats Abaddon by manipulating Abaddon into a 1v1 with Mephiston. Abaddon would want NO PART of Mephiston. No one, cept maybe Magnus, wants a piece of Mephiston at this point.

Especially with the theory that Sanguinius went into a black rage and killed Horus, wounded the Emperor before being put out of his misery, Horus soul destroyed so the Chaos God would know nothing. It'd be amazing to see the controlled Dante fight Abbadon with everything fully knowing it will be his death. Just buying the time needed for the true Herald arrive. Being struck down, now for Mephiston to arrive a split hair to late. Seeing his light counterpart extinguished he is consumed by the Black Angel withen, killing Abbadon. Then? Who knows what happenes next

Emotionally, Dante. Lore wise.... Abaddon. There isn't another chaos marine who can unite them like he can. Primarchs aside obviously. They cannot let Abaddon die lore wise, so Dante being killed, reborn as his own Primarchs good demon would allow possession of a Dante demon reborn.

@@vassilispetrides8841 Fulgrim eating virus bomb, Abaddon taking the thicc black sword by sigi, Kharn getting a full on reboot, and so on and so forth. Abaddon will let Dante win so he can another reboot because if he does kill Dante, that means he has to face a vengeful Mephiston next and NO ONE cept maybe Magnus wants any piece of Mephiston. For Baal series they had to send Mephiston off on a errand mission because he would have solo'd the hive mind and ended the invasion.

@@kccustodes2618 Fulgrim is a Daemon Primarch so he can’t truly die, unless specific things happen that can destroy his soul, similar to how Horus died) he lives by Daemon rules now. His body will just rebuild over however long it takes.

The legend goes Dante took Skarbrand he took a Avatar of Khaine the Swarm Lord. They are all top end champions who should shread a space marine but Dante keeps winning regardless. That being said there is someone else in gold who should have first call on a fight with Abaddon an older warrior than even the warmaster, Valdor should be the one to take the fight to warmaster.

Personally, I'd love to see Tyberos the Red Wake step up to Abbadon. He's got the size, the ferocity, and his armor is literally retrofitted with Dreadnought plate. The only known firstborn marine that can match a Primarch in size and strength. (If Tyberos crosses the Rubicon then he might as well BE the Primarch of the Space Sharks. They'dhave to steal parts from a Telemon Dreadnought just to outfit him.)

If the fight is in the throne room in the presence of the emperor then I'm guessing Dante will be juiced up by the big E. I could see both of them die from their wounds but Dante stopping Abaddon from using the demon sword against the emperor.

My vote is for Cypher to take Abaddon down. There is a canon material from back in the day where Abaddon and Cypher have a meeting which ends with Cypher smoking Abaddon's chosen terminator bodyguards. Abaddon acknowledges to himself that he didn't even see Cypher do it, he is just too fast. He even admits to himself that between cypher's speed, pistols, and the lion sword, he wants no part of that fight. There was additional lore to backup his speed as well. In particular an observed battle between some fallen led by Cypher and Necrons led by the Deceiver. Cypher was dodging in and around the incoming shots, always multiple steps ahead of incoming fire. Even the deceiver, a literal star god can't land a blow on him as it retreated through a portal. That speed was supported by his table top rules too. Back when we still had initiative Cypher was initiative 8 the only thing in the game faster than him was the Avatar of Khaine. Think about that, not a chapter master, not a Phoenix Lord, not an Incubi, not even a Greater Demon was faster. It took a literal ancient immortal god of war to be faster than him. Which is why for my money short of plot armor kicking in its no contest. In that duel, I'm not even sure that Abaddon lands a hit.

Great video, can we all agree Dante needs a model worthy of his history and role in the current 40K climate and rules that reflect him beating some pretty amazing opponents in the lore.

Dante hasn't accepted the plot armor of the Golden Boy's future visions yet. Out on a limb, when Sanguinius didn't fully recognize the marine in his vision, signals a primaris Blood Angel.

Something to remember about prophecy, is that it can always be metaphor rather than literal. Another thing to remember, Sigismund was a skilled swordsmen. But that doesn't necessarily make him a better warrior than Dante. Which would probably be something Dante would use to his advantage, especially if Abaddon underestimated the 'Old Man'. I can see Dante defeating Abaddon as a first born, but it costing him everything. Though not killing Abaddon by hurt him more than anyone since Sigismund. In more ways than one, if the rest of the Black Legion see Abaddon lose to an 'OId Man'. So as he lay dying he requests to be allowed to die. But Mephisto may know that Dante's destiny is not yet fulfilled and orders that Dante be taken over the Rubicon Primaris to save him, against Dante's wishes.

@@adrienwatson2179 Abaddon only beat Sigismund because of his age. A Dante revitalized by the rubicon would beat Abaddon outright in a contest of pure skill. There is also the fact that Abaddon himself is also abit older now. When he fought Sig before, only 1000 years had past realtime. 10,000 years later and even with the effects of the Warp, Abaddon must be pushing a few centuries at least. Besides that, only thing Abaddon has going for him is his wargear. (I don't think Abaddon had Drachyen when he dueled sig.)

@@Makorze Yup He had juat left the eye on the first crusade So no Drach'nyen Also to be fair, the Talon is a psychological than anything and at the time he didnt really have the strength to wield it, and it threw him off balance Its more the mental terror that effects everyone in its presence At the time, the Talon was fresh out of a stasis field and covered in Sanguinius and the Emperors blood Its presence actually dropped people to their knees And even Abbadon admitted that Sigismund was better than him, the only reason he won was because Sigismund slowed down and got tired due to age.

@@adrienwatson2179 Despite the flaws with Abby as a character. I do think he needs a moment where he is nearly tempted to give in and accept demonic power to win. Its been said he wants to win "as a mortal man" without their help but we've nothing in lore yet to affirm that conviction within him. Maybe in his fight with Dante he sees that. He nearly dies to Dante but seeing him in the grip of the Black Rage shows Abby exactly what will happen if he does submit. Abby might actually be able to push himself as lost in the rage, Dante will see Abby as Horus and loathed to be compared to this genefather, just dumps the Talon of Horus and goes sword only.

I am the proud father of a Blood Angels army and I love their lore, especially all stories involving Dante. But in his current state Dante would lose. He is on the verge of death, he is 1500 years old, and his wounds refuse to fully heal in his sarcophagus. I would say his only chance would be if he crosses the Rubicon-Primaris. I think an interesting storyline would be for Dante to be wounded in single combat by Abaddon to the point where he only chance for survival would be by becoming a Primaris Marine. Afterwards I would love to see a round two.

Who else? Tyberos "the Red Wake": A Marine nearly the Size of a Primarch. Sitting in an custom made Terminator Armor WITH Dreadnought parts cause he is soooo BIG and is still faster than other Marines in regular Armor. Wielding "Hunger" and "Slake", a pair of Lightning Claw-Power-Chainfists! Sharboi goes ChompChomp. Asterion Moloch: A Marine wich the Martial Skill unknown to others wielding the "Black Spear" wich is rumored to be a Weapon from the Custodes. Even a Custodes (Valerian) was not shure if he could best him in Combat. There even is the Rumor he may BE a Custodes or that the Mind of Asterion gets linked up with a new Marine every time he gets too old or wounded wich gives him combat experience like noone else on Loyalist Side. And he is a Space Spartan for Style Points.

I could see Dante "winning" by dieing and preventing Abaddon form accomplishing some other objective. Like maybe Dante duels Abaddon on a planet surface just long enough for Seth to blow up the Vengeful Spirit marooning the Warmaster or something like that.

I feel like there's things missing here that favor Dante slightly, even beyond fate. I also feel like we're missing things towards the current story with "Omens". I would also tend to think that Mephiston is more of a threat than anyone to Abaddon with perhaps Dante serving a different purpose.

@@Dreadbringer The only ones that might die are Dante and Abbaddon. 40k has to move on. GW has to focus on giving Dante the most noble death possible before he does it himself. And Abbadon will die very well on the shore of his goal: "Killing the false emperor" before being struck down. This would refresh the setting with a change of Warmaster. 40k is grimdark not because everyone dies, but because its a display of cycle of rises and falls that continues, along with the characters we loved and admired. Anyway none of this is for us to decide. We will see in a couple of years😂

I think that if the fight is in front of the throne, a lot of Abaddon's advantages might be parred back. Would Drachneyen still be a Daemon weapon that close to the Emperor, would Abaddon's marks stil be effective? The location could be key

I actually imagined it will be Abaddon vs Mephiston. At one point Mephiston was one of the few models that could throw down with Abaddon and reasonably expect to live.

I think the best chance Dante would ever have is not a 1v1, but to bring in allies - the might of Mephiston would probably tip the scales. Dante would be fully capable of laying a trap like that...

As cool as an epic duel would be, personally I would love to see a villain (not even just Abaddon, just a known big bad) dispatched by pure tactics or overwhelming numbers. Sure Abaddon is tough, but even a Primarch would struggle to survive two dozen bolter shells to the face and torso. Lucius the Eternal died to a single landmine once, and he's pretty blessed by Chaos. (Though it doesn't really scratch the itch when he just wakes up afterwards, being Lucius)

i mean any writer can hand wave Lucius away easily enough, and I'm surprised any trivial chapter hasn't don't it yet. So long as you kill him and take no pleasure in it...then viola. Get a chapter with no real personal history or vendetta tied to him to kill him/nuke him or even kill him with secondary fire accidentally(it is eternal war after all) and then make a hilarious side story of them finding a new replacement for Lucius as new chosen try to retrieve his armor(which would then I'm sure morph back to him eventually).

This is where we run into the issue of 40k having the same problem as mainline Marvel and DC comics, they're not prepared to permanently kill off a character. From a maintain the status quo outlook, Dante is up for the chop but he's also up from a narrative context as all the clues are he'll be the last line of defence and die in the attempt. If Abaddon dies, the Black Legion and Chaos as a threat takes a SIGNIFICANT backpedal as Abaddon is the only thing holding both together to any degree. Hell the Black Legion would pretty much end as a major faction.

Ironically I think 40K is worst off, Marvel and DC to a lesser extent can move forward but 40K seemingly can only take 10 steps before crashing and falling apart. Marvel Krakoan experiment would kill 40k, it just aint that robust and never was.

That's not really a fair fight though. Abaddon may be the champion of Chaos but he isn't a Primarch. The Lion and Leman would wreck Abaddon, like it wouldn't even be worth writing about, or reading for that mater...

If it ever came to it, it's not gonna be a matter of a one v one. Dante has made a particularly powerful ally out of the Silent King, who made it a point to prove to him that he was already in deep respect. Possibly owing to the fact that he has advisors that can see through time...

I agree Dante would most definitely need to cross the rubicon first, and would'nt it be great if somehow in crossing the rubicon Dante grows wings to mirror his Primarch. That would make for an awesome tabletop model. In reality though i think it would end with neither dying, both models are so improtant in the lore and game at this point i don't see game workshop losing out on that.

Yeah, and Abaddon was over 1000 years old too just like Siggy. Abby was probably older than Sigmund time goes faster in warp but there is no strain on the flesh. Just like Horace spent 10,000 years in the warp, battling demons and gathering his strength to come back to his sons who only thought he was gone for 15 minutes.. he even had a white streak in his hair, which they thought it would never happen.

Hmm, I do believe there is hope for Dante, as in the novel "Devastation of Baal" Dante had not drank any blood in ages. But, when his blood thrawl offered Dante his blood and the Angel drank, his age disappeared and he felt revitalized. So, I believe that if Dante gave into the thirst, even just a bit, and drank blood again, he would heal in good enough health to stand against Abbadon. But knowing how much Dante resisted drinking his blood thrawl's blood, he might never do it again.

I know the lore reason Dante and a lot of other space marine characters haven't crossed the rubicon is because of the danger. Though I assume the reason in real world is because GW is waiting to make a big sell from it. Though I can get behind that, don't want people to be stealing each other's spotlights.

Already happened in a novel called the Red Path. Kharn put up a good fight but was beaten with Abaddon reminding him he wasn't the only one blessed by the blood god.

I feel like Abaddon technically lost to Sigismind but the tanked his way through to hax out a win. With Calgar on the other hand, sure Abby took advantage of a the ground giving out to close the gap and get I in close. Once he did, Abaddon tore Calgar apart pretty easily. Even if you want to say Calgar was holding back, I doubt he would have been doing so to the point of letting himself get stomped and killed.

I would think in the event of them doing battle, Dante would fully and irreversibly succumb to the Black Rage and die... They won't let Abaddon be killed for the story. Dante would most certainly _ascend_ to a higher form by Sanguinius' will or whatnot.

I want to see them battle each other for sure, but I don’t think they will finish the fight. The question is going to be how they write the power boost for Dante. Unless the intention is to sacrifice Dante like they did Sigismund, they will have to fix the fact that Dante is dying before he faces Abbadon unless they use Dante on deaths door again as a Super Sayan moment for the Sanguinore to manifest within Dante’s soul and he basically becomes a Saint/warp Demi-god

I love Dante as much as the next guy, but that vision is just .... weird. What would need to happen for Dante of all people to end up in the throne room as the very last defender of the Big E??? Where are the Sisters of Silence, who specialize in defeating chaos? Where are the Grey Knights? What happened to all the Custodians, who should not have any issues taking on a mere space marine? Did Abaddon manage to defeat or disable the titans guarding the throne room? What about the Psi-Titans that Terra keeps in reserve for the very worst of times and which are apparently so terrible that even the primarchs decided not to mess with them? Did Guilliman decide to just relax in his chambers while all this was happening? What is Dante doing away from Imperium Nihilus in the first place? It would be a very very weird scenario in which Dante would be the last available defender, vision from Sanguinius or not.

To be honest I think that is a senario where you could get a double kill one from the fight the other form injuries afterwords. But I would give the edge to Dante if he falls into the Black Rage.

Not sure this adds up bud. Abaddon is juiced up on Chaos, was one of the most competent warriors during HH, and has over ten thousand years of experience. I love Dante, but he is too old to beat Abaddon, even with the black rage. Sigismund can't have been much older or younger than Dante when Abaddon killed him. I can't say Dante is a better warrior than Sigismund. I just don't think it's possible for Dante to win. Sadly.

@@stormraven8484 I know, and I know this is all opinion, but I don't think there's any plausible way that Dante could ever beat Abaddon in a one on one scrap. After all, Abaddon has killed a Horus clone. Dante just wouldn't stand up to either the Horus clone or Sigismund.

Also if the Emperor can save sisters why wouldn't he save Dante. The 3rd most important man in the imperium. On the other side the chaos gods won't let go of their warmaster (or the writers for both of them). I don't think any of them could ever kill the other for good.

A fair fight is not between a non-warp enhanced hero vs a warp enhanced hero but a warp enhanced hero vs a warp enhanced hero. Sanguinor vs Abadon is fair match up. Or how about a Legion of the Damned Hero vs Abadon. Wouldn’t that be more exiting?

As a Blood Angel fan, Abaddon should kill Dante in a fight. Don't get me wrong, Dante is an amazing character, but Abaddon is a 1st generation marine, plus all that choas shit and a near ultimate plot armour. I think GW will have Dante wounding Abaddon before being fatally wounded, resulting in Dante becoming a primaris. With a high chance of Abaddon throwing a tandem ala Cadian.

Two others that might stand a good chance against Abaddon, assuming his plot armour isn't too thick. Astarion Moloc of the Minotaurs, and Tyberos the Red Wake of the Carcardon Astra. A named Custodes wasn't sure if he could take Moloc which is insane considering that a rank and file Custodes can easily cut through 3 or 4 Space Marines without breaking a sweat, so for a named Custodes to be unsure in a 1 v 1 with a Space Marine is unheard of. Tyberos is one of the largest Space Marines on record, he wears Terminator Armour that is modified with additional Dreadnaught Armour because he's too big to fit inside Terminator Armour. Tyberos is also described as moving faster than a normal eye can see in Terminator Armour when fighting, and wields a pair of Power Lighting Claws with underslung chainblades called Hunger and Slake that are reputed to be possibly once belonging to Konrad Curze. Depending on who is writing it, I can see Abaddon being taking by either of those guys in a 1 v 1.

At the peak of the battle of all battles, the most desperate hour in the imperium's history with the Emperor right behind him do you honestly think Dante would fail, that he would fall like another defender and fail his duty HELL NO he is not going down he is not failing he is not losing. He would stand his ground and the Chaos Gods my care he would win No doubt in my mind

If this were to happen, I'm saying BOTH end up falling in the duel, Dante lasting long enough to see Abbadon fall. For the Imperium, they'd lose a legend while possibly making way for the return of another loyalist Primarch (Johnson maybe). For the Black Legion, Chaos for the time being until..say..Euron Blackheart (I probably misspelled his first name) officially establishes himself as Warmaster.
