What about people like me, whose pain is in the epigastric area? And wraps all around the back? It took me years to get diagnosed. They took my gallbladder and everything. Finally they figured it out and I take Imitrex nasal spray to abort the attack and it works like a charm. Are there any others that are atypical like me? Also I started these at 11 years old, and I am now in my 50s and they are occurring more frequently now. I wish I knew why.

Thanks very much for your comment and my apologies for this delayed response. It is possible to get variations such as this with abdominal migraines. I'm sorry to hear you've been suffering with this for so long. You may benefit from seeing a Watson's Headache Practitioner- you can google "Watson's Headache Practitioner near me" to find one local to you. This is something you may be able to discuss further with your GP as well. I hope you have since been able to find some relief for your symptoms. My daughter have abdominal migraine i feel so bad for her it goes for hours she was diagnosed since 6 year old and now she 18 and ahe still have it.

I'm 32, I've been diagnosed with abdominal migraine. I will usually suffer from am and that's how I know ill have a migrane the following day. It is absolute agony, ill be just sitting there and then in a split second, im screaming in pain. I've dropped things and it's embarrassing. But mine is just progressing, i hardly get a rest, I'm getting it as I'm writing this. My mum sufferers from severe migraines also.

Hi Lee, I'm sorry to hear you've been suffering from abdominal migraines- they can be extremely painful and debilitating. Migraines can sometimes be linked to genetics so it's interesting to hear that your mother has also suffered from them. Have you been able to find something that provides relief from your symptoms?

@brisbaneheadacheandmigrain3863 Hi 🙂 Thank you for replying, there is two things that I've done differently. I've stopped drinking tap water, even tap water through the jug filter. Now I only drink rainwater put through an 8 stage filter, ive also been adding a small amount of Himalayan salt to my water most days. But my symptoms have almost stopped again, I haven't had a migraine in quite a while it's hard not to notice.

My son is suffering from this and his father has suffered from this since 2001. It's always misdiagnosed due to stereotyping so it's hard to get help.

We see a lot of patients who have gone to all types of doctors and had countless scans and dietitian assessments done on them for stomach and intestinal issues, but often times the tests come back negative. It's very rewarding for these patients when we find the link between their abdominal issues and their brainstem and treat them accordingly. Have your family been assessed by a headache clinician, Maleene?

@@brisbaneheadacheandmigrain3863 Not yet, my son was just discharged from the hospital and now he's going to see the Pediatric GI. I had to convince the doctors it wasn't an HEC syndrome , but they gave him the capsaicin cream anyway which set his recovery back a day in the hospital. He was given protonix to help with the acid and dry heaving . I hope they take me seriously he's a teenager who will be a adult man soon he needs to know how to maintain this health issue.
