I’m uploading this one a little early, because this weekend I’ll be busy with an audition for college! Hopefully this video isn’t too boring, I thought it was important to tell my abdominal migraine story and talk more about chronic pain. I hope you enjoy!

My husband has had this his entire life. Has it only every few years now. He's a doctor and so am I , we still took really long to diagnose it. Nothing works only heat packs. It's very debilitating when it happens. Hope you are better.

I was just diagnosed with abdominal migraines a few months ago (I’m 18) and it’s so nice to hear about someone else with the same thing. I feel like a lot of people just don’t really get it because I do have times where it’s really bad and I throw up, but I also just have stretches of days where the pain is more mild but never goes away. Thank you so much for posting this!

I'm so happy I can relate to someone else's story! So many doctors told me there was nothing wrong no matter how many times I told them something wasn't right. I went through 3 GI specialists and a GI surgeon by the time we found out I had abdominal migraines. I'm so sorry you also had to go through something like that.

Wow, I’ve been dealing with abdominal pain for over 6 years now and you are the first person I’ve seen with the same issue as me. I used to get them around every month/every 3 weeks as a kid but slowly they are fading. My best ‘treatment’ is falling asleep but this is easier said then done as the pain torments my mind. The best preventative measures I have found is stress reducing and eating fruits every day, just being healthy in general has really helped push the pains to around once every 3 months or so. It’s a struggle but we got this!

Hi, thanks for posting. I am two years in since my first one. Usually they would be once every 4-6 weeks, this month I just had my 7th. The pain has landed me in an ambulance a number of times in the past. It’s frustrating after all the tests being told there’s nothing wrong. My Dr has given me some pain relief to take when attacks occur and anti nausea meds too. Whilst these do help it’d be nice to understand why and prevent. It’s so comforting to know there are others because like you say there are doctors and nurse who haven’t heard of it and stare at you blankly when you tell them and think you are making it up. I’ve recently also been put on amitriptyline, up to day 4, I’ll persist with it but it does make you very drowsy. Thanks again for taking the time to share

Thanks for this. I am 54 and it all started with a bad head migraine with nausea and now persistent stomach problems and on and off headaches for a month now. Going to get both things more thoroughly checked out.Yesterday I ate a regular meal and was in agony all day with bloating and stomach pain. I am going to make sure that I also see a GI specialist on top of the neurologist I am seeing. I've always had migraines, but this constant thing is different. I was often beset by intense stomach pains as a child as well. I also suffer from anxiety and it's been a bit worse these days. Thanks again for sharing! Glad you got ths all figurerd out. What a journey!

I am from Sri Lanka and i had Chronic cholecystitis which is when your gallbladder distends. The reasons are hard to find. I was also diagnosed with abdominal migrane and i was given a special nasal spray and its like magic. One puff and in few seconds the migrane pain comes from an intense 100 to a 2. The first doctor didnt take me serious at all untill another doctor who i took a second opinion from did. He admitted me to the hospital and checken everything. He brought in another specialist who diagnosed my abdominal migrane. I owe them so much for releasing me from this mystery. Also ive noticed during my periods i get it alot. Our cycles tend to play a big part in bile production, stomach acid. Maybe you can see a pattern and see with ur doctor what u csn do about it.

Thanks for this video! I can barely find anything online about abdominal migraines, but this is the only thing that describes my pain. It really is debilitating and so frustrating when doctors don't take you seriously. Mine was chalked up to anxiety, too, but I KNEW there is something else going on and just wanted someone to listen! All sorts of tests later and a doctor finally suggested "that sort of sounds like abdominal migraines" but I still don't have an official diagnosis. And nothing helps with the pain, which is the worst I've ever felt. All this to say - thank you for sharing your experience and making me feel a little less like I'm making all this up! :)

Hi! Your story touched me. I got Lyme disease at around age 7 and no doctor even knew what that was. I saw dozens before getting diagnosed at 42!!!!! Lyme is very painful and I was told I was making it up and “ quit yer bitchin” kind of thing. I then discovered that I birthed it into five children. It’s been a fairly torturous journey. We ALL have migraines, gallstones, anxiety, muscle and joint pain, forgetfulness, nausea, acid stomach, sleep disorder, depression and on and on. I’m glad I could support my kids thru treatment. We’re all a bit better but Lyme never leaves you alone ! I felt so bad that your docs didn’t hear you. Maybe you should test for Lyme sometime! Thank you for sharing ( I’m older but cuz of Lyme I think I’m having stomach migraine). You are a beautiful soul and gorgeous young woman and I’m sure your videos will help many! So generous of you! I’ve been wanting to write my book for a long time !! Maybe I’ll just tell my story here!💜

Thank you for this! Delt with literally the same thing since I was 15, about to be 26. On my third gastro doc rn and doing all the testing again and I’m “fine” have another appointment in two weeks and wanting to get referred to migraine clinician. My question if you see this is, during your pains did you also get paid in your back near the ribs? My pain is also on my right side. Every time I see a new doc or end up in er they try to brush it off as gallstones but mine already removed at 17 and then once I say that they also just say anxiety or ulcers. Just had endoscopy tho and no ulcers this time actually. Thinking I have been suffering this since 9th grade smh. Doc really be causing us to get more depressed with the condition saying nothing is wrong 😭😭

Thank you so much for this video. My six-year-old daughter has been in extreme pain for quite some time now and we have not had any answers until just recently. After so many faults diagnosis and ER doctors just dismissing us and thinking we're crazy we have figured out that she has abdominal migraines. We have an appointment coming up at Seattle children's hospital. I cannot wait to get there and see what they tell us about this terrible issue. It's one of those things that's very misdiagnosed. The ER doctor also told us that my daughter was constipated and needed to go poop more. That was crazy because she had diarrhea while she was in there. I wish if they did not know at least they would be honest and say that instead of making you feel like a fool for bringing your child in to be seen. We also have phenomenal doctors that really do care and I am so grateful for them. Now we have to figure out what's triggering it. Thanks again for your video!

@@gaarvikav9517 well after several ER visits, nothing got better but it definitely didn't get worse. Then one day randomly she started peeing a lot. We took her back to the ER and she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She is now on an insulin pump and thriving! Her symptoms were randomly puking, abdominal pain, lightheadedness dizziness, and massive mood swings. And now as we watch her blood sugar go high and go low we notice how much it affects her and the symptoms. If we can keep her blood sugar regulated we notice her symptoms all go away.

Hi! I have abdominal migraines too. I got them when I was 15. I got them very randomly. I started birthcontrol and noticed I got them every month a a few days (5/10) after my stop week. My doctor said I should try skipping my stopweek and see if I still get them. I didn’t! So now I take hormonal birthcontrol as a preventative medication. I do take a stopweek every 6 months (recommend by a gyno). When I have my stopweek I do get them in the weeks following up. And very rarely at the end of the 6 months. But those at the end are way less intense! I hope you can find some relief too.

I was about the same age when my abdominal migraines showed up. My triggers are foods and anxiety. Mostly my period though. It took me 5 years to get diagnosed. In the hospital once a month the first day of my period every month. Thankfully I moved from california to washington state and found new doctors. Then finally referred to a neurologist. Who immediately took me off of the thousands of meds I was on. That the emergency doctors prescribed me. Gave me nortriptyline and sent me to the gynecologist for a strong birth control. Thankfully it worked. I've been on the meds for 6 years now. Haven't grown out of anything. Tried to get off the meds recently. Didn't work at all.

I used to get abdominal migraines all the time! It was several years of not knowing what the problem was and going to numerous specialists that I was diagnosed with abdominal migraines that were triggered by stress and worry and anxiety. When I was a sophomore in college I finally found an abortive medication that worked for me! I completely understand the pain that you have gone through! I sucked when no one knew what was going on and when everyone thought it was in my head. It still can be hard sometimes when I explain what an abdominal migraine is!

I was thinking I am the only one in whole world who is suffering from this abdominal migraine. I even got operated for gallbladder stones and I do not have gallbladder anymore. I am now 25 yrs and still looking for solution for this disorder. I have actually experienced all of the single things which you have mentioned in detail. I feel only way to deal with this is living a stress free life and staying away from anxiety. Also one of major problem I am still facing is vomiting while traveling that ultimately leads to abdominal migraine. Have you been through something like this?

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear you're hurting. As far as I know, there's not really a cure, hence the chronic part, but it goes away for a lot of people. I also know for some, stress exacerbates the pain, for some people diet change can help, I think your best bet is to experiment with different coping mechanisms and pain relief and create a plan curated to your needs and comfort level... I hope it gets better for you!
