I’m bringing my #AcneSolved series to a close with today’s instalment in which I cover the 3rd phase of acne management - you’re in the groove, your retinoid is doing the heavy lifting at night and you’re now looking to enhance your ‘canvas’ by tidying up those pesky dark marks and uneven texture. I highlight the key Actives that work in harmony to improve skin-tone, reduce uneven texture and deliver that grown-up glow.

My tip for mentally dealing with skin imperfections is to see myself as how I see others. I have mild adult acne and some scars. I find that when I focus too much on the imperfections on my skin, I tend to magnify it and it becomes intolerable. But when I look at other people with skin issues, I don't find then to be "gross" or other harsh words that I'd use to describe my own skin. I tend to look at their overall features, their way of carrying themselves, their smiles and how they interact with others. So to everyone who's reading, at the same time that we treat our skin issues, we should also be less hard on ourselves. Acne and scars aren't all we are. They will get cured, so please don't bring yourself down for something that's temporary.

What a nice perspective🙂 I’m the total opposite. I notice all the small details in people (not on purpose- it’s just how I am) so when I see myself, I’m equally harsh on myself if not worse. When I look in the mirror, I notice every single mark and scar and it bothers me - becuz I notice it and hate it on everyone including me. But I’m not insecure about my appearance because of it. I’m quite comfortable with it. There are features of me (physical and otherwise) that I really like and others that I really don’t. It’s not something that affects self-esteem. But God acne is annoying! I can’t ignore it once I see it esp since it’s painful as well😣

I just want to say that I have been binge-watching Dr Sam since I discovered her a week ago, and before that, I was so overwhelmed with all the different beauty items available on the market. I had no idea where to start or how many things to put on my skin but Dr Sam has made things so simple and clear and I am obsessed with her videos. I have recommended her channel to everyone that I know and I remind myself to click ‘like’ on every one of her videos I watch. Thanks Dr Sam, you have helped me get rid of my skin anxiety and made me much more knowledgeable about skin!!

In terms of feedback on the acne solved series - amazing & informative. Gave me structure to all the products I've been dipping in and out of for years, I like many have an awful habit of not sticking to things if I don't see results in a couple of weeks. Hi Dr Sam! Love this series!❤️ I’ve incorporated changes in my routine as per your recommendations in the previous parts of the series. I have adult acne mainly on my jaw and along the jawline. It seems to have started to purge after I started the Effaclar Duo by LRP. Planning to start PC’s BHA liquid Exfloiant soon to replace it. What’s your opinion on that? Also what % of Azelaic Acid do you recommend? I’m currently on 10% (alternating with Tretinion in the PM). I have been on Tretinoin for over a year now and also used Azelaic acid but still continue to have marks ☹️

I personally wouldn't use duac in the morning as it makes the skin more sensitive to the sun. I used duac and differin on alternate evenings, I've now changed duac for azelaic acid as they are pretty similar, so I do differin one night and azelaic acid the other night. Should I continue to use the same tyrosinase inhibitor which got arbutin , kojic dipalmitate, liquorice root extract , moras Alba mulberry . Or is it good to switch to different tyrosinase inhibitors ? Also should one apply only on dark pigmentation or apply all over the face , can melanocytes move to another non pigmented area if you don’t apply tyrosinase inhibitor all over your face ?
