Fun project and as always with Brandon, clearly explained ! But if I may, that locating ring is much more than a time saving tool as it precisely sets the flywheel's gap with all ignition components.

Brandon next time remove the spark plug and pack the rope inside the cylinder to hold the flywheel. I tried a charging system on a 15 hp Johnson but unless I was at high speed it really didn't do much charging. Better on a 20hp or greater. Always fun to watch you work. thanks for sharing

You would have to run that all day to benefit from a 4 amp stator (and that 4 amps is a generous number) check out leroy’s ramblings! Evinrude marketed a charging stator in small displacement engines as a novelty in my opinion! They’re absolutely useless and a power drain !
