I’ve been a nurse almost 20 years…every once in a blue moon I get an itch to do patient care and then I see videos like this and I’m like no ma’am!!! 😂😂😂 I’ve paid my dues at the bedside

Currently a pct and I’m burnt out. I work on the surgical floor and I have 14 patients. I’ve only been doing it for two years and now I’m going to school for a medical assistant. I’d rather be working in a clinic then dealing with what I’m dealing with now. I never want to hear a call light ever again.

The techs in the hospital definitely have more responsibility than the CNAs in the nursing home. I’m a new nurse but I was a PCT and CNA in both settings. In my state techs can do fingersticks, ekgs, empty JP drains, condom cath, I&Os, IVs, blood draw and so much more. Please utilize your UAP. In the nursing home Cnas are limited to washing, wiping, feeding. Techs definitely can help more.

Currently looking for a way out of bedside nursing. I also work med surg, and for the last few days, we have had multiple icu patients on the floor. It's becoming too much. I've learned alot but I'm ready to go lol

I've done multiple IVIG because I work on medserg neurology. We have patients with myasthenia Gravis and MS that recieves IVIG and they usually stay multiple days just to get these done. It has to be done with D5 and yes open that tab. Last patient i had done this he had 3 bottles i think 30/20/10 so i had to catch it before the line dried out so i can hang new bottle. Also had 6 patients on dayshift. I'm an LPN but I'm going back to school on the 22nd to bridge.

Giiirl! I'm in orientation at the hospital on a PCU floor and I'm struggling! Its a completely different ballgame compared to the nursing home. I'm whooped!

Yea I’m a tech in peds and my floor gives us 9 patients. And doing vital signs on all babies possibly, and a lot of them be on contact for the craziest stuff it can literally take 2 hours at the most. And I work on the Cancer, oncology and BMT unit so bed changes are a MUST. And they train us to do so many task. Urine dips for chemo, sugars, breast milk verifications, monitor checks, EKG’s, priming, IV’s and the list goes onnnnnn. Some days I never even sit down because of all the required task. Last week my whole body was soar.

Yes yes yes exactly how I felt working for the first time at a nursing home, my nerves were shot trying to take care of 67 people as the only nurse on the unit. I miss the hospital so much for that exact reason, not feeling like I am out there alone.

It is physically and mentally exhausting to do my job and that of the techs. Where I’m at, this hospital needs to get more techs or pca’s I don’t care how they gotta do it.

Well I do not know how nursing content has popped up. I’m a hs teacher yr 20 and been watching the struggling teacher content. Only thing I can think of is that my field is not the only one struggling in our post pandemic world.

1) alcohol is a dirty, nasty, and such an addictive drug. Im Wisconsin and let me tell u its HORRIBLE up here, 2) yes running your as$ off hanging timed and continuous IV meds is no joke, esp when u throw in the changes in condition 3) 6 patients w 4 on fluids/meds is heavy and if u have leave something for days it is a-ok, and 4) Yes use the PCTs! And help them when u have time, which isnt always the case.😊
