The Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz is the 4th stage of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour. The 10-player tournament takes place in the St. Louis Chess Club from 10-14 August. The prize fund is $150,000, with $37,500 for 1st place. 7 tour regulars, including World Champion Magnus Carlsen, are joined by wildcards Leinier Dominguez, Yu Yangyi and Richard Rapport.
The rapid section on the first 3 days is a single round-robin with a time control of 25 minutes for all moves and a 10-second delay from move 1. The final 2 days are a blitz double round-robin, with 18 rounds of 5+3 blitz. Rapid games count double, with 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. A 2-player tie for first will be decided by a 2-game rapid mini-match (10+5) and, if necessary, an Armageddon game (5 vs. 4). Official website: grandchesstour.org

6:03 -- Carlson had no earthly reason to trade queens on c6. His fortress is impregnable, and all he has to do is sit back and wait for White to blunder. The move Carlson should have played was Ne6 -- the same move he played *after* trading queens, as the knight is temporarily perfectly safe there because the threatening White d5 pawn is tasked with defending its queen! If Ne6, Qxd7, Bxd7, then the knight defends the rook on f8 while White's rook on b8 must then either exchange or retreat, permitting the knight to then depart. If, after, Bxd7, then Rb6, then Nd8, and the position is drawish, but with White more likely to blunder and let loose Black's bishop pair. -- But after exchanging queens, the engine becomes excited with White's position, according it +2 after Qxc6, dxc6, Ne6.

Hi, I really enjoy your coverage of interesting games and analysis of moves which could led to a different outcome. Also, regarding the person asking for help on subtitles, I believe it would be great if you provide your own subtitles in the uploaded videos. The subtitles provided by KZfaq covers middle two rows of the chess board while watching on smartphone. Thus it will be helpful for some people to understand the game better without relying upon KZfaq subtitles.

I think what they mean with the subtitles thing is they WANT to have subtitles on (maybe they need them because they might have hearing issues or maybe english is not their first language and have troubles hearing but not reading?) but doing so blocks the board so maybe you could consider changing the layout of the video to accomodate possible subtitles.

@@thejuiceman1849 that's correct, but he has been crushing the field since the 2018 WCC match against Caruana. Its wierd to see him lose so many games in one tournament. He has been almost unbeatable for so long

Finally caught a video before KZfaq notified me about it. :) PS: I have developed an app called Polllzy. It is not a chess app, but you can definitely ask chess questions on it. It is basically a social media platform where you can ask any polls and vote on polls created by other people. It is still very new but it is extremely easy to use. If you create some interesting polls, you could also be featured in our Poll of the Day series. :) Thank you all and I will see you soon!
