Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book kzfaq.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.

I live next door to a working line GSD. Soon as he turned 2 years, he changed to very reactive to my dog. Took him attacking my dog and hurting him twice before his owner knuckled down and started training him. He's better now, but is never leashed and we still have issues since my dog now wants to attack him out of fear every time he sees him. It's been a struggle, but all I can do is work on my own dog's reactivity with him, which is why these videos are so helpful.

As a positive reinforcement dog trainer, this is all exactly what I've been taught. I know that providing a correction is beneficial (just company policy so we cant), but everything else youre going on is spot on. I tell pet parents that we need to make it fun and exciting when they're doing something good. Communication is HUGE. Pet parents just take the wrong aspect of it and just start yelling commands in a high stimulated scenario and the dog gets more overwhelmed instead of walking to the dog away. Love the channel. Glad to see some pet parents getting great advice

You really think that's what's going on? You noticed that he didn't have a muzzle on in this video. You also didn't see him or the owner attempting to put one on...and that's because he would have reacted the same way as he did in the first video because that is one of his triggers. Let's be absolutely clear, you are seeing this dog behaving the same way as he does when at home. The only thing that changed was the effort at redirection, which is good in terms of breaking the dog's focus during a reactive moment. But this was not a breakthrough moment. The dog was very tense and was showing signs of aggression throughout. Additionally, this particular technique is only effective with a food motivated dog, but it only serves to redirect and does nothing about the underlying problem. Desensitization is crucial in changing this type of aggression. This video is a completely misleading infomercial. Prove me wrong and show me this dog having a muzzle put on him without a reaction, as well as walking by other dogs without showing any signs of dominance or aggression.

Though I am skeptical of the utility of corrections in situations like this, your explanation of how corrections can be used effectively is very solid. You really do a good job of explaining the importance of precise timing on the correction. I think that is something that is missing from a lot of these dog training videos on KZfaq...they do not explain how a correction works, so people go home and give their dogs poorly timed corrections, which only increases their problems...

My german shepherd is very similar to him. As a owner going through the same thing I feel for the woman, it is so stressful and takes a lot out of a person. We constantly have to watch over our shoulders to make sure our dogs are remaining calm. My dog is young so I still have hope and defiantly will not give up however she does share the same traits and behaviours as this dog in the video. Sadly i'm from the UK otherwise i'd be in touch straight away with you. Most behaviourists give up and do not want to listen. Mine is perfect in the house no problems at all however on the outside, shes scared of everything which causes her to react. No one sees the true colour to these types of dogs they just are quick to name them lots of different things especially with the size of dog. In reality, they're really sweet and great family dogs. I have learnt a lot from your videos and I thank you for helping these owners and there beautiful dogs.

I’ve noticed that some people really do struggle with giving enough positive feedback and reward. Not just with dogs but with humans as well. But some of these dogs, like Scott, may need a higher level and amount of reward and verbal praise than their owners are comfortable giving. And it’s not being mean to the owners. It’s perhaps personality, social conditioning, trauma ...lots of reasons a person is more comfortable being reserved. They either have to understand about themselves and be willing to work on it for the health and safety of their dogs or consider a less reactive dog. Fantastic videos. Really love them.

Hey man just wanted to say I’m really happy to see this video as part one for Scott was a little more on the flooding side than I think most trainers that follow behavioralist like Sophia Yin would prefer. I understand that you were just doing it to assess the dogs breaking points and it was great to see the follow up using operant and counter conditions in this way to correct the issue. Great job

That stuffed dog is awesome. My parents dog use to growl at fake dog statues. They never moved so I guess it would freak him out. He never growled at live dogs

Really excellent work, both videos with this dog. I worked with dogs for over 50 years and am so happy to see at least one young trainer that has real talent and intelligence with dogs. There’s a lot more trainers, or behaviourists as they like to be called, these days but sadly very few that have much of a clue.

Loved it. I totally believe in the eye contact with the dog. I hope that Scott's owner continues. And would be cool to see how he did after the training. BTW? Scot looked exactly like our Maddi. Miss that dog so much!!!!

Hey, Tom. I've always loved dogs and have always been fascinated with dog behavior and dog training. Now that I'm a little older (I recently turned 18) I was wondering what are some good first steps for someone like me to get into the world of working with dogs and their behavior. It is a real dream of mine to work with dogs as a profession and any tips you have would be super appreciated.
