Went through this back in October, what's a bit fucked up is the Civilians working at lackland treat you like dog shit more than the MTI's
@chrismarkwardt4685
@chrismarkwardt4685 6 жыл бұрын
I think many of the civilians are actually told to act that way to trainees. The MTI's are supposed to act this way as well of course, but I think they can be softer at times because they've been through basic as well and form a bond with trainees.

Am I the only one who still calls them 'cammies'? Not Camo? When I was in (78-82), camo was what hunters wore. Cammies were what the military wore. Somewhere along the line, that changed.

It's good to see assigned battle buddies helping each other. When I went to Fort Jackson in 1995 my battle buddy never helped me and treated me badly nonstop and when I needed help with something he said " I am embarrassed to know you. You're an embarrassment to society and this country." Talk about a jerk among other things

I remember landing at the airport in Texas after flying out of New Jersey in a freakin rainstorm. We were coming in for a landing about an hour after sunrise and what i saw was astonishing. jACKRABBITS all over the runway, scattering to get out of the way before the plane ran over them. They were HUGE!!

You deserve plenty of respect, and you have my respect for your service. I never tried to take that away. You still however, don't have the right to go around and judge other branches, saying they don't have the right to wear camo. I don't care whether you were a grunt or a radio operator in Nam. I didn't do a thing in Vietnam. I did however, serve in Afghanistan. I don't go around trying to bring down my brothers and sisters in the military. They all deserve they uniform. No matter the branch..

+PianoMan Smith its just possible we old farts DID have it rougher. I know we did not show up carrying anything with us, and we ran in combat boots. And there were no civilians helping us try on our uniforms to make sure they fit. And no sitting around trying our boots on. We carried them back to the barracks and they had to fit. These troops are being allowed to relax a bit. None of that back when.
@Chuck88keys
@Chuck88keys 8 жыл бұрын
+Thunderbolt22A10 I said we had it "rougher" and i was speaking "in general" for everyone. I was an outdoor person from age 14 Used to hunt trap deep sea fish and lived fairly close to the outlying woods and ponds. Spent most of my pre-USAF days out there, so i was in good shape. YMCA 5 nights a week and swim 100 laps each time ( that's a mile ) and could do 2 lengths of the pool UNDER-water ( that's 150 feet ). I have to admit that LOVE watching the A-10's FLY OVERHEAD when they were coming into Bradley airport.

Wow! They now issue Asics running shoes. When I was there in 1984, they issued a generic Chinese made artificial banana skin, no-name white sneaker. Those shoes were horrible because they were cheaply made with no support or cushion.
