After watching this video and other ones regarding the King's Guards and the behaviour of some tourists I think it is high time for a fence to be built around this area in order to protect both Guards and their horses from stupid tourists.

YES, and Amen. They really need to build a barrier between the horse guards and the people it's just circus. In this day and age when people don't have an internal sense of boundaries, they need to have a boundary put there for them! Also in this day and age with unknown enemies, the guard should never be that exposed. Keep a distance Please. Cameras are made with zoom lenses.

Like I said before on another channel...ppl act like it's something from Disney land...they can interact and think there is no consequence to thier actions. This is not a person in costume and the horse is not an animatronic prop. They are a real functioning part of this place. I've seen this in other places like changing of the guard in Scotland, ppl just standing there and have to be shouted at to move or try to lift the soldiers kilts etc...

Just before this video I watched another episode where the guard had to push the panic button. I saw some similar behaviors and the two horses one was first the one kept the first one with the panic button. He kept chewing about on his bed and his tongue was asked you and then just waving his head up and down to both sides of the chest areas. Same areas people touch. I'm noticing this horse is doing something similar with the mouth first there are lot of bugs going around and I'm wondering if some of those bugs might have a chemical that they emit. The horses can't tell you that their tongue is burning. Anyone inspecting them wouldn't see it. I'm watching little bugs flying around. The horses tongue is kind of going from side to side, both horses were waving their head this one is stopping its foot it's trying to express something it can't do anything about. Something might have a burning sensation. A second theory is worse. I've often thought of those people that come up and then put their hand to the horse's nose and mouth area who knows what they could put on their hands as a sadistic trick like bengay or some other chemical that can begin to burn overtime. Ben gay gets hotter and hotter over time. I don't think any of those people should ever be patting the horses and touching them who knows what chemical they could have on their hands..✋

There are several things that could cause problems start at the bit and work your way round the horse it breaks my heart to see these Beautiful animals in such distress!

The chain is not a martingal. The horses wear a cavalry bridle with the headpiece and bit able to be removed leaving the horse in just a headcollar. The horses are special trained to stand there. They trained to ignore noise, people surrounding them and any other distractions. Usually a horse pawing with one leg means it's impatient or frustrated. I think that the guards and soldiers were aware..but the post can not be left unguarded, so I do believe they were trying to speed up the shift change, whilst reassuring both the guard and the horse.

The horse is tired of being treated like he is in a petting zoo. He is working and expects the respect he is due. I don’t blame him for being angry. His guard is doing a great job working with his partner.

I’ve watched several horses really enjoying the attention from the tourists, but I’ve also seen so many being pestered by people who think the horse guards are entertainment. There are real working soldiers with their trained horses. I can’t help but wish people would not be allowed to get so close to the horse & rider. I can’t believe how many make sudden moves & loud noises. Bless the horses & the soldiers for their hard work & service. You look wonderful!!!🙏🏼🤗💕

Why is there no white line around the horse and guardsman to stop the public from getting so close and behave like idiots
@andreaguidebeck2305 Жыл бұрын
I wish there was. It would protect everyone.

Idiots don't pay any attention to white lines. Or signs. If the big stompy horse itself isn't enough of a clue that they should stay back there's no hope for these people.

To a horse handler, it is obvious that either there is a horsefly biting his underbelly (which would mean they missed a spot with the insect repellant) or his tack is pinching. Of course he could be just having a bad day… just saying most trained horses won’t act up unless there is a reason.
@edemontfort9482 Жыл бұрын
Definitely uncomfortable, tack is pinching or something hurts. He keeps licking, could be the bit.
@ktcrewman881 Жыл бұрын
exactly ... the way he was trying to rub his chest or his leg was obviously something or even sweat irritating him well done on the handler trying to reassure him, it was kind to see..

I taught beginners' riding years ago. Horses are not machines- they've good & bad days just as we do. They have social habits, have likes, dislikes, anxieties, become ill or sore just as we do. Some figured this out sooner than others..😅

If he is getting bitten they shake and move their head or attempt to move their heads around to where it is. He is just having a bad day he could be a new horse as well

I don’t believe in these beautiful animals having to stand so long, it’s usually the martingale and bit that bothers some of them. Guard did a great job but the public are so stupid. I have horses but I’ve had lots of mishaps , people forget how strong these horses are. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@oldharpydisguised709 Жыл бұрын
I would just point out that no Cavalry horse wears a martingale. What you can see are the leather bridoon or snaffle reins hanging loose, or the steel teather chain, which is attached to the headstall. Most of the trouble that the troopers have with their mounts are the inevitable problems that occur between the necessity for the horse to do what it is told, when told and (the tricky part) for as long as it is required, and trying to take into account the wants and needs of an intelligent, sensitive, and often self opinionated animal, surrounded by well intentioned idiots.

I feel for the horses natural want to move forward. Standing on stone/cement for long periods can become painful, causing soreness. I wonder, are they at least permitted to ride them forward (guards without all their gear), on a grassy/dirt surface allowing them to loosen up after their required duty? They have bottled up tension needing relief.

It's good they always encourage the horses to go back to their post. It's only for an hour. If they allowed the horse to go back to stables, then the horse knows all it has to do is play up and they can go back to eating in the stable!
