Since the passing of her mum, Sally’s had a strained relationship with her step-father, which has left her feeling hurt and disappointed. In this session, Sally realises that even if his behaviour doesn’t change, sending a message to her step-dad can be a good way to honour, respect and place her feelings.

Sally and Laurens journey are very relatable to me. I appreciate they come on here to share their story. I learn a lot even after doing the Reset. Thank you.

Ok. Question for the podcast. Since you are talking about the lockdown. I feel many people, otherwise healthy, are complaining over nothing really. People with a chronic illness are sometimes bedbound/housebound and isolated for years. Healthy people in lockdown still have a lot of options on what they can do. They also do not need to battle symptoms. I try to be understanding and advise them to see all that they can do, not the things they can't but get dismissive responses like 'you can handle it" or "you are used to it, for us it is worse"'. I'm getting fed up with social media posts, news and even commercials or x-mas cards meant to lift people up in these "stressful" times, but these times do not seem that stressful to me. You are being asked to sit on the couch for a bit while restaurants close but you can still get take-away and find a gorgeous picknick spot near a lake or under the stars. How hard can that be?! Yes shops close too, but online you can get all the cr*p you want, delivered to your door. There is skype, zoom, facebook to talk to your friends and family.... If you are healthy there is still so so much that you can do, maybe even things you would otherwise not have thought of that turn out to be an amazing experience, or reconnecting with nature and the kids, ... I'm well aware that someone in a violent relationship or a mum juggling kids, housework and a full time job from home can be stressful. But those are not the ones that complain the loudest. How do I respond? How do I get recognition for my situation which is extremely hard, I am much more limited then a healthy person in lockdown, and still support them as a friend as well.

Wow that Scotland trip looked amazing! I've been to the highlands but I think I need to go back! I feel ya Sally in this episode, dealing with disappointment is a real challenge untangling your responsibility from theirs and who's story belongs to who - best of luck going forward with those relationships.

As a daughter I don't understand how children think they have a right to determine what their parents should do with their money.

While I agree with you in the sense that I want my parents to spend their money on themselves while they are alive. They do not need to leave me anything when they die. However, I am not disabled like Sally’s brother is. If you remember back a few episodes, her mother had a life insurance policy when she died. Sally’s brother was living with them because he is autistic. At the least, some of that money if not all, should go to the autistic brother in support of him because he is not able to take care of himself and he just lost his mother as well. The stepfather is selling the house, moving, and leaving a disabled son of hers to fend for himself. I think Sally’s concern for the brother and his financial care is a legitimate concern. Just another side of the story to think about.
