This young lady drew me in, from the fringes of Opera and Classical Crossover, to a full fledged fan. But it has to be some kind of ironic that I got there looking for an old Rock and roll favorite, Sukiyaki, nee Ue o Muite Arukou and Sayonara, Sayonara. Finding Kenji Tanimura and Subaru, OMG! Hibari Misora! Yawara, Kawa No Nagare No Youni. Lots of others, but it adds up to motivating me to try more of this Opera "junk". And Amira put the knife straight through my heart. I can never go back the the Pop stuff, just can't. And I am a 67 year old American. You expressed my feelings for Amira's talent perfectly.

I grew up with the wonderful music of the 40'sand still think it far surpasses anything we hear today.By accident I heard Amira, sing mio babbino a caro and I cried.I am 96 years old and of Italian decent and wonder why haven't I l listened to this beautiful music all my life.Thanks to Amira .Bravo Amira!!!

My late father's favourite singer was Jeanette Mcdonald and my favourite song of her's was Ave Maria on youtube, now Amira is the only one I have heard that comes anywhere near Jeanette's singing for range and i'm sure her voice is that of an angel and still only a child.

Dafydd, the perfect description. I don't think most people fully appreciate how difficult it is to sing softly and oh so slowly and modulate your voice as Amira does in all of her performances here. Artistry barely doe her justice but unfortunately we don't have the vocabulary to accurately describe Amiras voice and what she so capably does with it here.. I was highly critical of this performance. Not of Amiras incredible performance and interpretation but of the recording quality. Amiras performance is so unbelievable that the distortion of her upper range, (especially when she added even just a bit of power) was so jarring and disturbing that it came close to ruining it for me. It's only after letting it sit for a while and coming back to listen again that I realized how truley outstanding this whole performance actually is, poor sound engineering, chorus of street people and the oompah band aside Amira displays an artistry here, and an understanding of the music and such control that the slow pace set by the conductor that st first so irritated me as a "mistake" enabled Amira to almost effortlessly wring the maximum amount of emotion, beauty and meaning out of almost every syllable. This performance certainly gives the lie to those critics who say a young person doesn't have the life experience to song with the proper emotion. I wonder what they hear when the listen to Amira.Her talent is so much greater then her voice. I still don't understand it and I can't describe it, but starting at 9 years old she brought more sympathy and understanding to her musical performances then most adults are every capable of achieving. As I come back to listen to this after an absence of several months or so I can finally accept what a "tour de force, this actually is in spite of the surrounding flaws which she so easily overcomes. Just unbelievable.

I agree wholeheartedly. Her singing talent is wonderful, magnificent, but her personality is also quite remarkable. She's a sweet, lovely, beautiful young woman.

Thanks for your reply, Powerdriller Power. Quite a handle. I wouldn't use the words you use to describe Amira, but I definitely share the sentiment. Also, I wouldn't say her "talent is good," To me it's sensational. I love the way she uses her hands and arms to keep the tempo. She conducts herself.

truly amazing the effect AMIRA has upon so many...so many say the same or similar things about listening to AMIRA.

Christoffer Lindh.... I hadn't listen to Amira, for some time... But, when moments ago, I watched video of her 1st audition, I was left stunned and, totally overcome with passionate admiration, as though I had seen seen that video for the first time... I fact I had watched video of Amira's first audition more than hundred times before.... Amira's talent is so natural and pure.... It burst upon us, complete and, hypnotizing, as though cultivated in some higher place, in heaven, not in any worldly setting.

Look at Amira HGT Babbino - then jump to say Classics is groot 2016 or say Gabriellas song 2018 again CIG I predict you will become besotted, a dedicated Amira fan like me which now number in millions.

I'm a 65-year old American from Georgia, but I have to absolutely (and sadly) admit that you are right. I think of Amira Willighagen from Holland, Angelina Jordan from Norway, Daneliya Tuleshova from Kazikhstan, Connie Talbot & Jonathan Antoine, both from Great Britain, and others who are so mature, so "professional" in their vocal abilities, so confident and poised, so charismatic and stage-commanding, yet at the same time, such humble, kindhearted, humanitarian, and loving souls at such insanely young ages! Someone please refresh my memory if you read my comment, but the ONLY American young prodigy who comes to mind and fits these descriptions would be Jackie Evancho from Pennsylvania!

@@nodoboho , yes, thank you for your kind comments. Shortly after I wrote those comments, I "discovered" Laura Bretan. What an incredible young lady with character, talent, beauty, charm, poise, grace, ad infinitum! And, like myself, she is also a Christian, and she's not shy in giving God the glory for all she is and all she has done. She is Romanian, but she lives in Chicago, as I'm sure you already know. Another who I discovered about the same time as Laura is Dimash Kudaibergen from Kazhakstan. Though he's older (in his mid to late 20's), I've read that he also is a very kind, giving, compassionate humanitarian-type individual. Yes, there is definitely "something in the water" in Europe, and some of it filtered into the Chicago water supply apparently! Lol! Thank you and blessings to you and yours!

According to several (very surprised) vocal coaches, Amira has managed (all by herself by watching KZfaq videos on how to sing opera) to learn the correct operatic technique, so she hasn't damaged her voice at all. Some of the other young opera singers (e.g Church, Evancho) use the wrong technique (look closely at their mouths when they sing and you'll see the difference between them and Amira) that's why they have crossed over to more Pop music now.

She has been careful in her upper ranges, saving it for her fully mature voice in about five or six years.
