Thanks for the support everyone! Sorry for being so hesitant and indecisive in parts, in complete honesty there are moments I get nervous to play or make decisions in front of so many people hahaha, it can feel funny to know there is someone watching me who probably knows what I should do 🤣 There are a lot of passionate people out there who know all of the ins and outs of the game and it's a lot of pressure! I'm also just trying to get used to the new pace of combat, loving it though. Thanks for the patience so far! 🙂

Getting help from others is baked into the design and spirit of a Souls game. Messages, ghosts of other players and even summons are all there to help us overcome these monumental hurtles. @@Jack_80 Fun is ultimately subjective. If she enjoys the game by using summons, then that is just how she enjoys the game. The fact that both of you can enjoy the games in your own ways is great, just shows that the game is versatile like that. In fact I'd say that the games customized difficulty is a huge boon. You can make the game incredibly damn hard by doing SL 1 runs, regular hard by playing without summons, or more moderate by using summons and grinding up a bunch of extra souls to power up. Means people can adjust the game piecemeal to be as tough as they like it. All accomplished without a difficulty selection menu, it's quite elegant.

There were only a handful of my playthroughs when i did buy the smithboxes and used them. It's not hard to run back to the blacksmith to upgrade your weapons and any souls gathered along the way are always useful (even in miniscule amounts). It's useful to have them and upgrade your weapons/armor if you're missing on materials and will get them along your journey, but you still need to ascend the gear with a blacksmith.

@@BalbazaktheGreat I know that it's nothing in the grand scheme, although at the beginning, when souls are scarce it's goot to save every bit for a level up or gear upgrade, until you're overwhelming your current enemies (and those further up). Also, not talking about the repair box. I buy it always and often use it. Smithing box though? I'm not saying it's not going to prove useful, but simply there is a strong chance players will just go back to the blacksmith for upgrades, given they gather more resources than for a simple reinforcement. (so requiring also ascension).

A little tip about shields. You need to show other info in the menu to really see the shield effectiveness. There you can see defense values in % for the different elements. The number shown in the previus page is attack damage which is not very usefull info for a shield lol. Ideally use a shield that has 100% physical block, and change depending the situation, for example a good fire/magic backup shields can be very usefull.

A few pieces of practical advice: consider moveset instead/in addition to damage. For instance, a weapon with a thrusting type of attack might be beneficial for narrow corridors where your wide swings hit the walls instead, but the tradeoff might be that you can hit one enemy instead of several. Next, strength and dexterity can both make weapons more powerful but it depends on particular weapons. For the early game, if you find a weapon you like, it is most important to get the strength and dex requirements and then you can focus on other stats such as health and stamina. Finally, stamina management is important. Try to budget your swings so that you at least have a little bit of stamina left to roll away. That will give you more flexibility to evade without getting greedy. But this is really great watching you experience everything for the first time. No matter what don't be afraid to try things and make mistakes. There will always be more souls. Best of luck!

The benefit of reversing your hollowing is that you can kindle bonfires and see NPC summon points. They can also give you benefits to resisting curse buildup, and increased item drop rates from enemies. You can get humanity without using the consumable items. Some enemies drop humanity and it automatically gets added to your hud (the number in the ball, to the left of your health meter) And just like souls, you drop them when you die, so it's good to use them if you ever find yourself with 2 or more, either to reverse hollowing or kindle a bonfire and get 5 extra flasks for as long as that bonfire is your respawn point.

Each death causes the undead to become more lose more sanity and once an undead has completely lost their sanity, they are considered hollow and after a hollow dies they truly die. Your character when not human is just in a hollowing process. When certain npc's wish for you not to go hollow they are basically saying 'dont lose yourself'. Something very cool that happens when you play online: Throughout the run up to the Gargoyles in the Undead Burg and near Andre, you occasionally hear the bell ring in the background. That happens when other online players ring the bell in their own game. So even when you're not directly interacting with people online, you still hear their triumph over the Gargoyles and get to share your own with others.

Yeah the level design in this game is amazing. Everything connects and loops back so seamlessly, even more so than in other Souls games. That's one of the million reasons this is considered one of the best games of all time.

Even MORE impressive: they couldn't actually have areas that large loaded in the engine, so in a lot of cases you're looking at a skybox that's been meticulously designed to match up with the real level geometry you'll pass through when you get there. My brain hurts just THINKING about planning all that out and getting all the different parts fitting together as well as they do, so it actually maintains the illusion of one, big, seamlessly connected world.

Hello SymbaLily! I love your playthroughs, and I’m delighted that you are playing this game. And don’t worry about “not being good at the game.” Most of us veteran Souls players watch new people play this game BECAUSE we want to relive the struggle we all went through initially. Honestly, if you were just breezing through the game, it would be a bit of a letdown for me, personally. So dive in, immerse yourself, and embrace the pain-your viewers will love you for it!

Hey! So happy part two came up :D Loving watching you play! Those of us who played this loads will never judge you, we were all there once, confused, lost, scared to spend soul's or turn a corner that makes funny noises haha. You are doing great, take it at ya own pace! Also love your reactions to almost everything! I wish I could forget it all and go again, but watching you is close enough! Take care, chosen undead. Your character will only go hollow, when you stop playing him! :D

If you would play online, you could hear other players ringing the bell. Thats awesome detail and clue where the bell is. Also I've never seen anyone's first playthrough such good as yours. I like that you are explorying everything and reading item descriptions. Can't wait for next episode.

hello amber, great playthrough so far. dont feel afraid to level up weapons. you can level most weapons up pretty far infinitely. its not until that last couple upgrades (which are pretty far into the game) that are limited. have fun! (:

In the beginning you noticed the best feature of Dark Souls 1 i.e. the map. The world is extremely connected and the level design is amazing. By far the best map in video game history. Keep focusing on the map, on what you see in the distance and on how you think will be the wa to reach some places, because Dark Souls 1 is unbeaten in this respect

It's good to see you back on the Dark Souls trail. Progressing wonderfully i see. Take your time and explore your options if you feel you're weak. There are quite a few from new equipment, upgrading it to leveling your stats (and grinding). Some enemies give more than others, so it's pretty valid in this game to do it. I applaud the mixture of luck and skill you show, as well as being careful when moving forward. It's hard to be like that when some enemies aren't too difficult and others can quickly kill you. Most importantly, there is no wrong way to play Dark Souls (or any From Soft game, except perhaps Sekiro). Enjoy yourself as much as you can. Goodbye then. Be safe friend. Don't you dare go hollow.

you are doing absolutely amazing for ur first playthrough. Gargoyles always kick everyones butt that hasnt played it yet. my advice, just take your time with all fights if you think they are or will be tough. as long as you move at your own pace like you have been doing you will make it through this game and enjoy every bit of it. also if a faster weapon is more of your style or want more reach that halberd goes very well with that shield of yours. cant wait to see more. im so excited to see you progress through this very tough game.
