I loved this arc of DS9, but then again, I loved most of them, and even almost all episodes (move along home comes to mind.) DS9 was, and still is, my favorite series and Sisko is my favorite Captain, as he was a real person, as opposed to an idealized version of a Captain.
@dreamingflurry2729

Yeah, I like Sisko, too but IMHO he should have still been drummed out of Starfleet for his actions against the Maquis (poisoning worlds? Come on, no! That is not the Starfleet way and you can't defend Starfleet and the Federation by pissing all over their ideals (ok: Unless you are Section 31, because IMHO any government needs a special operations department that is not beholden to laws! Then again: Section 31 never went after the Maquis! Hell, they probably liked the Maquis and hated the Cardassian-Federation-Treaty!))...hell, he should have faced being locked up for life! With lenience only being granted because locking him up would destabilize Bajor! Can't lock up the Emissary after all!

I question if the circle was in fact an internal movement to Bajor. We have seen that prior to the fall of the order that the cardissians had a network of spies and sympathizers in place, it would not have taken much for that network to have incited the revolt caused by the circle. Given the Kardashians calm demeanor and willingness to play the long game. I think we can safely assume that cardissian involvement was at a minimum The seed that started the circle.

Really good solid work Lore. Re advertising: do what you need to do mate - if some don't enjoy it SURELY they can fast-forward through the ads? In watching your video, a few things come to mind about the show DS9; 1. DS9 was consistently good and more often, brilliant. In my personal opinion, it was Star Trek at it's zenith. 2. I really miss the well considered, constructed and written storytelling of this era of Trek, in particular, DS9. 3. The sets on DS9 were sexy and truly beautiful. Herman Zimmerman and crew excelled themselves on DS9. 4. Generally Trek from this period was smart and intelligent, looking at the social issues and questions of the time in a non-preachy reflexive way. 5. The actors were quality and created truly endearing characters - so much so, I actually know and remember their names! 6. Story came first - everything else organically followed and was designed to support the story. 7. 98% of the time everything made sense and would eventually piece together. This is what I miss about Star Trek. This why I feel heartbroken about the current iterations of Trek. This is why I am left constantly wanting after watching each series of 'modern' Trek. This is why I rail against the current Trek as it continues, seemingly blind to what Trek was and what it should be .... could be. Lore, your work reminds us of the brilliance of Berman's era, whether intentionally or not. You manage this without the slightest reference to current banal, lamentable, shallow Trek of Kurtzman era. Vale Star Trek of yore, I fear it's time is now long gone.
@DerBeppone

I agree. All sides in this conflict had their merrits and that is why it is so messy. At this time the Bajorans simply weren't used to handle things in a peaceful maner and were desperate for strong leadership. They were so badly looking fro some one to look up to, that they arguably were even unable to take matters in their own hands. The fact, that they put up a provisional governement and the fact that it stays provisional for a very long time speaks volume.

If the Cardassian takeover had occurred "with relatively no resistance" Bajor would probably still have considerably more major infrastructure than we see in the show. Fifty years after the take-over, Cardassians were having Bajorans mine ore with picks and shovels and processing ores on orbiting space-stations rather than in smelting plants on the surface. As we see from characters like Iden in Voyager, Ro Laren in TNG and Major Kira and Leeta in DS9 - any relationship with a Bajoran that DOESN'T end with a "mutual" break-up tends to end in a violent death for one or both parties.

I honestly didn't mind the Raid promo. Yeah, they're everywhere, and overexposure can lead to a lot of "oh great, _this_ again" reactions, but there's something refreshing hearing someone talk about a product they genuinely like. Maybe the enthusiasm makes it feel less like a sales pitch, or the not-just-doing-this-for-a-paycheck perspective encourages a less-cheesy delivery. Whatever that extra element is, it's definitely there, and I appreciate it. Squire's channel does promos well too, though in different ways. He started out mostly doing machinima, but expanded to live-action skits a few years ago, and sets up smaller secondary acts for the promo. I would be a little surprised if he didn't have at least some formal training in film as well; maybe that trained eye is what makes the difference.

starfleet wasn't wrong in their withdraw, by retreating and announcing bajoran neutrality they minimized civilian casualties while retreating to a more advantageous position where they couldn't be flanked by cardassians as easily. its never a great decision to give up, especially when it breaks the promises that were made, but no amount of military power could really change the political situation

Depends entirely on the nature of the channel. But ultimately it comes down to time and effort. In order to spend the time it takes to produce content people want to watch, you have to put the time into the editing and scripting. In order to stay relevant, the channel has to post on a regular enough basis to keep the subscribers coming back. In order to make the time and effort put into the production of those videos worthwhile, the videos themselves have to pay for themselves. That's not even talking about the equipment side of things. Good microphones are expensive, if a channel does live action then they need decent camera's, and then editing software can be expensive too depending on what kind a person uses. Good computers are often required. I don't know where Lore gets the episodes he sources from in his videos, but if its from a streaming service then that has to be paid for as well. If its a channel your running just for fun, then your not going to treat it like a full time job. For many youtubers, their channel is a full time job and nobody wants to have a job they don't get paid for.

0:30 Does Jake think that people didn't sail before the 1500s? Does Sisko agree? Does the writer agree? What the actual hell.

Note, they say "First sailing across the oceans" which is not the same as a boat crossing a river or following a coast, which is what the vast majority of sailing was before the late 1400s. Also, the time given lines up with Columbus, which is probably what the writers were thinking as they made the line. Yes, it ignores the norse expeditions however.

To be entirely honest with you, I don't believe your audience has trouble with you having Sponsors to support your channel. It's just that "Raid : Shadow Legends" has garnered somewhat of a bad reputation with us hardcore gamers ( read back then as hardcore nerds ) as we can clearly see the physiologically manipulative mechanics in the game quite easily. It kinda of pisses us off to see soulless corporations messing with our hobby. I just use the "L" button to quickly skip past if the AD read is boring. I will "ALWAYS" watch Count Dankula's AD read of "Raid : Shadow Legends" because he is just that entertaining.

Why... Why do people complain about Adds anyway? Its 2021, yeah? Heard of 'Add-Blockers'? They literally have no Negative Side-Effects whatsoever.

@@loturzelrestaurant Yup. For those savvy enough to know those solutions is great. What about all those older people who can barely operate a computer ? They are just stuck with seeing ADs (they have no interest in to boot ) their whole lives ? If they don't have tech savvy children like me they will :) If they do have them, suddenly I'm tech support for my whole life lol

Just can't get into DS9...however excellent reviews like this encourage me giving it another shot. That said, it's a huge improvement over Enterprise, The cringe theme + annoying and effeminate Brit = unwatchable. Nothing wrong with effeminate .... loved Scott Thompson on the Larry Sanders Show for example.

This sounds a lot like today’s politics. Incessant screaming, scheming, maneuvering, factionalism, and toadying. Nothing but half baked ideas and hate for anything you don’t agree with. Sounds like 2020/21 politics to me. I don’t like the adds for it because every channel I watch has adds for it. Plus while it looks good it’s still another pay to win mobile game.

I was always a little disappointed that Kyra and Benjamin never became a couple. Kyra was such a great character and for her to waste her time on Odo was a real shame. And Benjamin, possibly the best Star Trek captain ever, deserved better than the bland and pointless woman he ended up with. I always thought it would be interesting, that after Benjamin finally earned Kyra's respect and friendship, if Kyra had to figure out how to deal with the fact that her BF [Benjamin so we are clear] is a central religions figure to her and her people. Instead she ends up with a Authoritarian, almost emotionless, jerk. And Benjamin ends up with a boring and forgettable woman, who he has little in common with. Except that she looked somewhat like his dead wife, which is creepy in my opinion.
