Many people consider karn's story the weakest. I get it. His story had to be on hold until dedra was made in charge of ferrix. But I really liked how the time we spent with him being pestered by his mom is now playing so much into his motivations. I’m convinced he’s playing a completely new character, but a part of me can’t help but theorize that since Palpatine is mentioned so much in this show, just what if Kino Loy was brought before him because he was impressed with how he commanded the other prisoners and wanted him to be a guinea pig for a certain experiment that would only be put into effect if the Galactic Empire was ever to fall and Palpatine felt they needed a back-up plan. Only when I think about it now there’s a wrinkle to that, how would he be able to use the dark side of the force? Would Palpatine have felt it within him or just used it through Snoke?

I really really loved this episode! I loved how we were able to check in with all the characters/ storylines without it feeling rushed. I also loved the parallel between Cassian and Mon Mothma, we see how Cassian is now stuck in this oppressive and dreary place meanwhile Mon is throwing a dinner party with all of her rich friends in her beautiful home with the amazing view. I think that the prison was amazingly designed and was used as such a great part of Cassian’s story. It was also so amazing to see Andy Serkis make his return to Star Wars in this episode, I think that his performance was perfect for that role. I really liked all the interaction scenes between Syril and Dedra, and I like that l despite the fact that they are very similar they appear to hate each other. It was also great to see Bix and Brasso again, and I really liked how they are still looking after Maarva even after Cassian has left, which shows that they don’t just care for her because she is Cassian’s mother, there is a real relationship between them. And that scene with Saw Gerrera awas incredible, not only was the scene itself (the writing and dialog) perfect, but Forest Whitaker was giving an amazing performance, you could really feel the variety of emotions that the character was going through Forest’s acting. I cannot wait to see next week’s episode and how Cassian’s story in prison will continue.

@@Loki-qo2kb look at it from this POV, each planet is different; some need guards while others have droids. Since this was before the Rebel Alliance, there was probably not a true need for droids just yet. This is the first time star wars has made me hate the empire, it just makes its eventual downfall all the more satisfying. Also I didn't expected Andy Serkis in the show!

I was rooting for Dedra too, but this episode really showed her true colors, and I realized just what a villain she is. Not only with manipulating Bix, but with Syril as well. The tables have turned, and Syril is threatening her position and standing and not going through the proper channels, and she is treating him just like Blevin treated her!

Even though she is a villain, I’m still rooting for her. She’s the hero of her own story, and I’m here for it! If she was not on the empire’s side, her cunning and psychological manipulations would be praised uncontroversially instead. I love how unapologetically competent she is. It makes her fun to watch in isolation, while making the rest of the series more tense with the knowledge that the empire has their own undaunted heroes.

Hey guys, great review & comments. I’m enjoying the show and its intensity too. It’s nice to see real drama in all these characters who weren’t in the spotlight during the rebellion. P.S. tell Sally to keep doing her Marvel movie watchalongs. Enjoyed those too.

My only issue with this show is the lack of alien characters, other then background dressing and even then it is minimal. it is a effects budget thing? There are plenty of cannon human like characters with unique skin tones and markings that would only be just a "quick" makeup job. Other then that it is a fantastic show.

I think andor does the in depth real view very well, where as you don't typically think in this manner when you think "star wars" this makes me think back to other points of the universe and imagine the up close emotions moments like we see here, and it almost feels strange to think that these moments obviously exist, this show just shows you that it can ve more than just laser swords and big ships.... I'm quite enjoying this up close and personal journey... I don't need "over the top" where none is needed... Over all... Adamantly awaiting the next episode... Peace

When Adny Serkis's character yelled at the "Debbie Downer" prisoner to stop telling Andor that it's hopeless, he wasn't doing it because he cared about Andor, he did it to keep up productivity. Remember, a hopeless worker is an unproductive worker. Also, it keeps people from committing suicide, which is also detrimental to production.

Stunning episode. Where the last episode had me heartbroken but hopeful, this episode had me pretty much terrified the whole time as the Empire lives up to the oppressive promise Luthen was hoping for. Showing the enslavement of countless people by making outlaws of them and putting them to brutal work, and contrasting it with the too little and too slow political maneuvers of the ruling class who you wonder will even include these prisoners in the population they're attempting to save was devastating to watch. The prisoners hate the rebels perhaps as much as they do the Empire for causing PORD and their sentences to double. Luthen putting in so much energy to unite a rebellion, and failing with Saw, just as Mon Mothma also seemed to be failing with her own efforts -- you have to wonder how in the hell are they going to get their act together. This was an episode of horror and despair, and I really needed a break after it. Maybe I'll watch the clip of Rebels where Ezra broadcasts about hope. What a truly amazing show.

Every character feels three dimensional and textured; it’s brilliant writing to build the world each week and show us what every character is feeling. It makes the scripts for all other Star Wars feel…childish.

Cool reaction. Love this series. Nice the Face Off vibes in the prision, have the same feeling. Actually the whole prision sequence was based in the first George Lucas movie, THX-1138, a distopian future where people work at an sterile place fabricating robots, without getting outside and getting rewarded for their labor.

That prison was like peak post-capitalism and it really made me think about how bullshit modern day working life is. This is the absolute extreme but you know every company would love that level of efficiency from their workers, to just work, eat, sleep, work until you burn out, literally here, yet just treat it like it's friendly competiton.

It's really weird how they're constantly cracking jokes during a serious show. Makes me feel they aren't invested at all. Why did they just suddenly start laughing at 14:36 after a guy committed suicide?

I saw Andy Serkis at a comic con in Brussels just a month ago, and jokingly asked him during his Q&A : "Well, now that you've been in Lord of the Rings, King Kong, the MCU, DC, and Star Wars, what's the next plan ?" "Aah, I'm back into some more independent smaller scale project..." Sly old dirty bastard... He could have said : "Well... more Star Wars "
