I have always felt that Andy would have been great with Sue Ann Langdon, I really liked her character and the softness and gentleness of her. I also liked Joanna Moore but could absolutely never stand the character of Helen, that woman got on my last nerve. As for Ellie, I watched her play Betty Anderson for too many years to be able to accept her with Andy.

Miss Peggy! No contest! She was beautiful, Southern (from Georgia?) AND could sing!

Peggy the county nurse was my favorite,Charlene was annoying,she must have been nineteen or twenty years old but behaved like a boy crazy teenager.

Love Joanna Moore, so I would have liked to see her as a regular, but maybe Peggy wasn't right for Andy.

By the way why is it in this show all the women own houses and except for Andy none of the men do. The first Floyd claimed at one point that he and his wife lived in the back of the Barber shop. Thelma Lou lived in a house. Helen lived in a house, so did Lydia Gomer lived in a room in Wally's gas station, so did Goober. Barney lived in a boarding house. So considering women's rights and paychecks at the time why did these working women live in a full house and the guys live in abdominal living situations. The crux? Even Otis, the town drunk, owned a house with his wife though his home away from home was the town jail. IT'S A SITCOM!!!

Between Miss Peggy and Miss Ellie…… close call, but I would give it to Miss Peggy. Honorable mention, Sue Ann Landon

I read that Peggy was written out of the show because they felt that, with her wealthy background, she wouldn't be right for Andy. If they'd gotten married, he would have rich society in-laws and that wouldn't go with his small town sheriff image.

I think both the character Andy and real Andy had the hots for the first nurse Mary - Julie Adams (I did too). He even said, "That there is a fine girl! Yes sir!" She would have been good for the Sheriff. Otherwise, Helen was probably the best pick for Andy after he turned full-time straight man and awkward & shy in the romance department. I hated that time when he and Helen were in the kitchen with Aunt Bee, and as Bee is going on about something, the camera pans to them in an awkward hug supposedly kissing. But you could tell they were not actually kissing.

Perhaps Andy Taylor was like Lou Ford in The Killer Inside Me. We never learn what happened to his wife and his girlfriends just suddenly vanish from town and are mentioned again. Perhaps the forests of Merryberry are keeping a dark secret. 😂😂😂😂😂🤔🤔🤔🤔

It's not even close: Any one of them but Helen. I'm serious. She was fine initially, but they turned her into a shallow, jealous hothead. Even Charlene would have been better! Both Marys and Ellie are faves. Karen was perfect.

Peggy. Miss Peggy hands down! However, Gloria ! WOW! Young, hot! But too young. But she really is fantastic! Miss Peggy fits right into Andy’s life. She’s beautiful, and is a southerner! Helen’s personality was stiff. She became angry and jealous quickly. She just didn’t have what Peggy did!

Sharon, in my opinion, was an idiot for wanting to live in Chicago...Chicago? At least NYC or San Francisco but Chicago? Barney was really ridiculous as when Andy & Helen weñt on their Honeymoon Andy & Helen had to bring Barney. That was not funny even in a SitCom ..gesh...

I would have been at Ms. Ellie's drug store all the time. Helen was a good mother figure for Ernest T. Bass, though, and she was right sharp. Either one. Maybe even the fun girls.

Ellie was too young. Mary, as played by Sue Ann Langdon was pretty good….much better than Mary as played by Julie Adams, but it was Peg, as played by Joanna Moore, that had the best chemistry with Andy. I’ve never liked Helen. She’s infuriatingly bossy, and angers much too easily for easy going Andy.

Helen was the best choice for Andy, and great when it came to Opie's education. Ellie was much to young for Andy she could have been Opie's big cousin and Peggy broke a date with Andy when an old boyfriend showed up at her home.

Helen was a good, smart, stable woman for Andy. She was a strong, independent woman with a career. Although I did like Nurse Peggy and Gloria who visited for one episode. I give Andy credit for resisting temptation with Gloria.

Having seen your other videos, I'm finding Helen more and more annoying. lol.
