This game is coming out before Star Citizen, that's insane.

I love that most of the reactions I see to this showcase begin with "Alright Todd what're you gonna try and sell me this time?" And end with "I want this game now."

From what I hear the 'random generation system' is more of a hybrid system; Each planet has a set seed that its terrain is generated from (Mostly based on environmental factors such as distance from the sun, etc), they have tweaked worldspaces that get created and put together by this generation, and then handmade content such as structures and caves is added on top of the generation, creating an experience not unlike running across a cave full of bandits in Skyrim. At least that's my take on it.

I've gotta admit that the aspect of npcs thinking they're the only ones roaming space is super cool. Means that their planet has just barely achived space travel and you can say you're coming from a completely different universe that has already achieved space travel. Potentially helping that planet in its progress and what not

I'm really hoping they have a good privateering system in the game, I really wanna specialise into boarding and capturing enemy ships then selling them for scrap or selling them outright. Then retiring to my private farm on a remote planet

This game is ridiculously ambitious. Just gotta hope they pull it off. I want a win for Bethesda. (edit: not for their corporate profit, but because I wanted to see them resurrect what they used to be)

I am glad the aesthetic is Nasa-punk instead of space high fantasy (Star Wars, Mass Effect.) I think it will be great to have a fantasy space game that feels a bit closer to reality.

The thing is, even if 80 or 90% of the 1000 planets are empty that is a MASSIVE sandbox for modders to basically run wild with. I am so incredibly hyped to see this game, simply because I love Bethesda RPGs and I love how moddable they are.

Also, as you mentioned Star Citizen a few times here, CIG just released details of tickets to their Citizen Con at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 21st and 22nd. For the two day event, a normal ticket is $199 while a Premium ticket costs $299. 🤣

Remember folks: Bethesda is going to use the same fucking engine for The Elder Scrolls VI. Epic failure!

I love the style of the game. Even the name 'NASA Punk' fits perfectly. It has an advanced look while remaining something clearly made by humans, they nailed it.

This almost feels like scifi grounded in reality. Seeing people relaxing on a beach. And the built up city. Feels like seeing the civilian side of mass effect.

With the 1000 Planets as a foundation, the potential for this game is unprecedented. with both mods and DLC, I believe this game will last Decades.

7:23 damn just a straight up lie. These are the worst npc's i have seen in a long while. Skyrim they felt like they did something here not at all. They don't even have a day and night schedule anymore they don't have a schedule at all. 11:20 hostile faction then showing the house varuun to bad you cannot encounter them ( i think 1 random battle space encounter) This feels like a straight up lie cut content but 3 months away from release they should know if in the game or not.. Guess dlc will have to do it ..... Also hostile factions in the depths of unexplored or uncolonized space is also a lie. They game doesn't feel like it has border and you can encounter pirates around new atlantis too because random poi system making everything feel the same such sadness this game is. 14:20 it's just fluff you can do that quests without the trait it just gives you like 1 or 2 extra lines of dialogue like all the other fluff lines. 16:35 challenges become increasing difficulty.. Bethesda i feel like this is a miscommunication what difficulty? It's tediousness that increases it doesn't become harder it becomes longer to reach the number, 17:00 that must have been a frustrating playthrough becomes melee is not fun takes forever to kill stuff and your more vulnerable for what... 18:45 well it seems they really nailed the feeling real part.. Nothing says unexplored space at the far reached of the galaxy encountering random civilian or the same 100th pirate outpost...They really spread themselves to thin on this game. 22:15 yeah sorry joe only 1 enemy that you encounter every time it doesn't have enemy variety, some robots here and there but mostly pirates.. 23:40 as far as i can remember you only encounter crew members on the big main quests or faction quests. Not while like exploring random POI's such a shame. 28:20 i guess she never redid her ship or changed ships. 29:48 a massive playground sure.. Setting me free nah. With so many essential npc's and even random non quests givers having that tag. You cannot set me free on this galaxy that is a straight up lie. You want them to follow 1 path no quests deviations at all, don't become evil for example because you can't. 39:00 idk man all the weapons feel the same to me the difference are very small. The biggest think i look at would be does it have ammo yes then use it. They don't feel different enough or the situations never warrant using other weapons. 43:08 diplomacy those speech checks rng mechanic is not diplomacy. Diplomacy is give and take here you only take get your way there isn't any compromising going on. 43:29 you can't say this game has freedom but then i will say what freedom? I don't see it i only see paths you made if you want to do something else you can't. You can be bounty hunter,transporter,miner etc but those are either radiant quests or random things not much freedom in those. I want to be evil a basic thing in most if not all RPG'S but here you can't what freedom TODD.

This presentation was by far the Craziest i've seen this year the amount of people being involved and having them talk about the game and what they like and actually presentating it too makes me feel hype but imma try to control my expectations.

Ever since I first saw Skyrim I was thinking that with the tech level and the graphics being what they were meant that it was time to make a game that never ends. This might be that game. Imagine if they do the mod support like they have always done. This could be the game that never ends. Between expansions and mod support this could grow and last forever.

For some reason, this reminds me a bit of Spore, which to this day is one of my favorite games of all time. Possibly due to all the customization and how vast the game seems to be. I am super excited for this game!

I don't think I have ever been more excited for a game!! As a true sci-fi nut, this is the game I've been dreaming about.

The models and texture resolution are a BIG step up. Really beautiful game. As long as they have a ton of content that pops up as you explore all the planets and it doesn't feel super repetitive or totally empty like so many other space games do, it'll be a huge success.

Todd has outright said that barren planets are also there for modders to do w.e they want with, so the modding scene is going to be amazing for this game with so much freedom and real estate to do things in.

I haven't seen one gameplay that lives up to this showcase of visiting other worlds. edit: I redact. It looks like there is going to be enough to be fun for me. I wonder if another settlement will need my help! lol

They should add power for life support and gravity, should be so cool to when in desperate situations turn those of to get the extra edge you need, but losing health of you and the crew, and stuff flying everywhere due to the gravity being off

Honestly would love to see or try to create a mod of a solar system that lost its sun. I think that would be fun to explore or even insert planets that are destroyed somehow, having ways to explore that.

As phenomenal as this looks, I hope it doesnt get tedious. Exploring each new planet should be exciting and have something unique to offer. If there are too many barren planets with nothing but a particular resource to harvest, it'll just be bland. Hopefully there are more planets with stories to offer.

I'm just thinking mods are gunna be a lot easier in this game. You just need to make a location and slip it in to the random generation system. They probably have specific places for specific planets so modders can be picky about what planet they want it on. Other than that there will most likely systems in place to pick a specific plots on a specific planet and the terrain generates around it. Same with space stations and derelict ships.

I'm excited for the Ship building and Space settlements, I spent hundreds of hours building settlements in Fallout 4

1000 planets, with so many empty ones, Mods can essentially take a planet each and really flesh a whole one out for themselves, just having it replace a base planet. download 200 mods, and suddenly each planet can be a real surprise.

As has been observed elsewhere, there are no ground vehicles shown. Also, not shown: flying your ship in a planet's atmosphere. Instead you have the option to fast travel back to your ship, which tells us the landing areas are going to be explorable only on foot. (Note that you never see anyone exploring a planet except on foot.) The one side benefit is that you won't have to waste hours traversing a lifeless rock. Willing to bet the same will go for areas in space -- you will have a small "zone" of space in which things happen, and these zones will be procedurally generated to create lootable derelicts/asteroids or pirate/enemy ships or aliens. Along the way there will be fixed encounter areas with things the devs have deliberately designed for the story or for 'discovery'.

I genuinely hope this game is as humble as it looks, allowing you to take it's simplicity in with depth, rather than roaming a vast expanse of details, but letting vast details settle within an expanse.

I'm gonna call it right now: The "telekinesis" part we saw towards the end of the combat section is gonna be a power the character receives from the artefact McGuffins and will basically resemble the Dragon Shout system from Skyrim. Basically, some alien technology that unlocks some inherent, hidden potential within humans.

It would be interesting to see if they have a pet system in the game

The one reason why i am slowly getting excited for the game is that it seems like it's finally a single player space exploration game that's not tied to a multiplayer economy. Or i hope that's what it's going to be at least

This game looks amazing and a part of me is with joe where I want a Pitch Black (the movie) planet where you show up and all hell just breaks loose. Imagine having to escape and mark the planet down to not go back there unless you have all the weapons..must temper expectations!

Building your own ships and outposts sounds so god damn fun. Only thing missing for me was power armor.

They are the main planets for the main missions, and the secondary planets for the secondary missions and also going to be like 10 to 20 planet so you can discover and the rest of it's going to be pretty much for mining

So, there are no sentient aliens, kind of like Firefly, or Battletech. I'm good with it, because it leaves the discovery of aliens an outstanding plot. And it makes sense, that humans would be alone in our corner of the universe.

I was on the fence on this, but after watching the deep-dive during the keynote I did something I haven't done in nearly a decade. I pre-ordered... and I got the constellation edition. This game has brought me back to my childhood of being excited for new games. I am so far beyond hyped. I love space games, If this game is anything like this it's going to be goddamned amazing. I like Elite Dangerous, but this looks so far beyond and so amazing.

I don't mind if the planets will be too empty that much, imagine how much of a sandbox for modders this game is going to be, mods for ship customisation, various landmarks, ton of space for new quests and locations. Sky is the limit.

Time will tell if its either a great game or a great video from Internet Historian.

One thing i liked about no man's sky was the entering planets and leaving planets. I didn't see that in here sadly

Personally, I like the number of planets. I can already see a galactic war happening in the expansions. Like humans could be pushing into alien territory, and a huge war happens. Past the obvious combat implications. Now, both sides need materials from mining and exploring. Rescue missions. Imagine come out of the gravdrive to a burning space station. Hubs free floating through space, having to navigate through the stations floating to find civilians crying for help.

My personality tends to be more that of Alex and seeing Alex himself being somewhat optimistic about Starfield, as was i, it gives me more hope then i had. I'm looking forwards to seeing this, its reminding me of the 3 months we had to wait for Fallout 4, the wait is so hard to take.

I'm glad they delayed this game, it looks like it got the attention it needed and they took the criticism to heart and addressed many concerns. I am still personally worried about the generation on the none hand crafted planets. when i was going in my expectations were tapered but this blew them out of the water. Is it a GOTY contender, maybe, but that depends on the release, but this is an extremely competitive year so I'm not expecting it to win.

Haven't been excited about a video game like this for many years! I really hope it won't disappoint us like Cyberpunk did.

I will say for all those talking about the number of planets, theyve been pretty upfront a good chunk of them are barren planets that youll only ever vusit cause it has some resources you need. And from what was shown in the game, its upfrint when youre approaching the planet if this is a barren nothing wasteland or if theres activoties and cities and things on it. So it wont be you just going planet to planet landing hoping youll find something to do, youll know as your touching down if theres something to do.

Id love for there to be a planet that seems as if its totally empty but somewhere on it is a door and if you find it and go through it, it takes you inside the planet and its a mega structure or it has something absolutely insane inside that makes you say "holy shit i wonder if anyone else has found this place". I would also find it very funny if they added a flat planet in the game,

I imagine some of these planets aren’t going to have surfaces and are just used for resources. Gas giant planets are common so I wonder how many of those there will be. Also with the concern about glitches, Phil spencer was saying that every play tester is testing Starfield right now so we will see how effective that is at launch lol.

I'm really glad we are getting a game with just humans and alien wild life. It's a breath of fresh air actually. The best part is that they can introduce humanoid/sentient aliens in this game and then let you play as them or interact with them in Starfield 2 or even expansions. The variety of alien wildlife is gonna make the enemies interesting, they are clearly saving a lot of them for us to discover on our own which makes it that more exciting. I'm blown away by their presentation. Everything I've seen looks good so far.
