Episode 6 Galadriel plot - Galadriel wants to sail faster, Miriel and Elendil want to sail at normal speed, and Halbrand and Pharazon demand the ships turn around. Elrond plot - Elrond and Durin continue arguing about the table while walking to Khazad-dum. Arondir plot - Everyone is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Orcs and hinting that they've done something clever to prepare for the attack. "Will it work?" "It has to work." "But what if it doesn't work?" Nori plot - Malva now loves Slamdalf because he saved her, but still wants to leave Nori's family behind for some unexplained reason. Meanwhile, Nori starts avoiding him because breaking a spellcaster's concentration while he's clearly casting a spell is somehow the spellcaster's fault. Eminem and crew find the wheelbarrow tracks leading away from the crater.

Just a theory, I suspect they went for inexperienced directors/other roles because they’re much more likely to do exactly what they’re told and not put up much resistance. A suitable candidate would’ve probably wanted too much license and freedom for Amazon's liking. I wonder how many higher-profile directors actually showed interest in or applied for the role and were disregarded.

if i remember, Numenorians were Powerful warriors that even the Elves respected They lived longer then normal humans as well, its why Aragorn is gonna live longer then a Human, because hes from Numenorian Descent. This show needed better writers, cus Numenor was also Honorable that heeded the call to battle without hesitation.

I can relate to Joe's frustration with Numenoreans, yeah Amazon treatment to them is just disrespectful. These men whose ancestors are the the Edain of the 1st age, are not normal/average men. They did aid the elves during the war of the wrath against Morgoth, mainly the three noble house of Edain (those of Bëor, Haleth and Hador). Numenoreans should at least have some prior knowledge and innate abilities in fighting, but the scene we all saw in training scene is just ridiculous , it feels like these men are just peasants who never fight before and never heard about orcs lol. It's pretty sad. The Numenoreans also have a much longer life and vigor ( their life spans are much longer than normal men) with tall stature like 7ft or more with strong body and mind as described by Tolkien.

A lot of people forget that shows like Breaking Bad and even Game of Thrones could be a slow burn at times, feeling as if there was always something around the corner that didn’t come to fruition…but…the reason they forget that is because the dialogue was always brilliant.

The five ships of Numenor was the deal breaker for me. When William the Conquerer invaded Britain, he had 700 ships. 700, and he was only sailing across the channel. Alex was 100% right, they must be missing the rights to most of the big stories, otherwise it should run: Season 1 - Forge the rings Season 2 - War of Sauron vs. Elves, saved by the Numenoreans Season 3 - Rise of Mordor Season 4 - Capture of Sauron, corruption of Numenor Season 5 - Invasion of Valinor, sinking of Numenor

I’m 33 and since 2001 when I watch Peter Jackson’s films including The Hobbit films (I, for one, DO like those movies), I laugh and I cry while filled with pure joy and then sometimes I binge the BTS content. Gold standard. Going further back to my early childhood, I watched the 70’s animated films multiple times. I read the books once as an early teen. Few things are ingrained in me damn near since diaper days and Middle-Earth is one of those things. It’s the ultimate fantasy world in my opinion. But when I watch this…I mostly feel nothing. I’ll finish the season and I do also enjoy Durin, but no…this doesn’t come close to Peter Jackson’s film. Jackson had respect for the source. Amazon does not. For me, this is a separate continuity and not required for a super massive LotR marathon.

You toughed it out longer than I could manage - after the 3rd episode I was done. The hubris of the powers that be that are behind this show is appalling; they had a brilliant foundation with what they were given in the appendices, and all they had to do was take that, fill in the blanks for a solid foundation, and build up from there. However, they chose to cast it all aside, raze the legendarium to the ground, scatter the ashes to the wind, and then had the gall to think they could do better.

Numenor is essentially an island full of Captain Americas, yet the show portrays them as a bunch of peasents from 14th century England who have never touched a sword before.

Hey Joe, kudos for giving Alex the stage. Good move, you guys all rock. And... couldn't agree more, this series is just heart breaking. I would have loved nothing more than a great adaption of Tolkien's world. What a let down.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Numenorians land in the South Lands and then they link up with Gil-Galad and he goes like "We dead if we don't get mithril" and then the Numenorians say "Oh we can spare a helmet or two." and then Gil-Galad says "What?" And then Elendil says "Yeah we bought like a ton of mithril from the elves and dwarfs way back when we helped you defeat Sauron the first time." Because you know Mithril is not a secret and the elven smiths used to just buy it from the dwarfs and work it, it's an export product of the dwarves.

I literally have more fun watching this than The Rings of Power

Why did they move back to the village? As a military veteran I could tell you all the things that make that a bad tactically. But I realised quite quickly that none of these characters are tactical, including the orcs, Adar, Bronwen and her Merry Men, and the 27 Numenoreans who apparently travelled overnight and got to the beleaguered Southlanders who got what they asked for by listening to Bronwen, in time to kick the arse of the Orcs, and Adar, although he achieved his aim by blowing up the volcano. By that time I was praying for the torture to end and instead all of the main characters except Isildur dying, they all fucking survived. If I had a wish it would be to go back to there with modern weaponry and wipe them ALL out for real. The Elves were prone to fading, because their time in Middle Earth was ending. It was the time of Men which is why the Numenoreans were accounted as a great fighting force. The elves were trying not to fight, the Humans in Middle Earth were scattered, divided and devoid of good leadership. The War of Wrath raged for 70 years. It destroyed part of Middle Earth and left men and elves homeless. The race of Men were too tired to fight any longer, and everyone thought that with the capture of Morgoth who was chained with Aingenor which was forged by Aulë and thrust through the door of night into the void, the troubles were ended. Finrod did not die in the War of Wrath. He died saving Beren, the consort of Luthien the half elf, half Maia girl on the Island of Taur en Gorhauth (the Isle of Werewolves) which was Sauron's stronghold. Finrod fought the wolf to save Beren and died of his injuries, that was well before the War of Wrath. Finrod was re-embodied after a long stay in the Halls of Mandos, otherwise called the Halls of Waiting. Elves are bound to Arda until the end battle Dagor Dagorath. Mithril wasn't some magical substance which would stop the Elves from fading. It's a plot contrivance (I am both a writer and an editor) There was no task for Galadriel to take up. The main reason for her following the Feanorians to Middle Earth was because she wanted a realm to rule. She met Celeborn in Doriath and they married, he did not fight in the War of Wrath neither did ANY od the Elves in Middle Earth. The race of Men however, did fight and that's why they were granted the Island of Numenor in gratitude by the Valar. The Numenoreans grew ever jealous of the fact that they were not immortal. They lived for a few hundred years, but eventually died of old age, unless they voluntarily gabe up their lives, as Elros did, as Aragorn did in the fourth age. Sauron whispered his malice into Ar Pharazôn's ear about taking the battle to the Valar and gaining immortality by force. Yes that is ironic. That was why he mustered a large and powerful army. They reached the shore of Valinor and the Valar appealed to Eru to aid them. They were buried under a rock avalanche in a valley just outside Tirion upon Tuna. Eru then removed Valinor from the Circles of the Earth and sent a wave to swallow Numenor, but Elendil, called Elendil the tall by the way, he was around 8 foot, and his adult sons with their families and the Faithful left Numenor before the wave hit but were shipwrecked along the coast of Middle Earth. Elendil made the shores not far from Lindon which is where Gil-galad lived along with Lord Elrond who was not his secretary but his Herald. His second in command.

They really are the holy Trinity whether I agree or not with their points ( just like red letter media) I love that -Alex is the lore check , -Joe is the explainer to make sure even if you haven't seen the show you get some context , and - Other Joe is the the everyman outside looking in vibe . But what's dynamic is the fact that it rotates depending on what show or movie .
