He's even forgetting that people outrun deer in the end. The original hunting method employed by humans was: run after it until it's either overheated or exhausted. Even if it has antlers, we can come at it from multiple sides. They're not going to form some line of battle. Deer can run for a bit and can then recover, but they won't last if not given the chance to stand still. Humans are built to keep going

Fun fact of the week: Pre-civilization humans practiced something called endurance hunting, where they literally just jogged after animals until they fell over from sheer exhaustion. It requires moderate speed, high endurance, and a high degree of cooperation, prevent the prey from just cutting a diagonal to get away. There's only one other mammal known to practice endurance hunting, that being wolves, and even they only do it when other options are exhausted; turns out bipedalism is pretty useful for endurance running. (This may have something to do with why humans and wolves partnered up so early on; dogs are the first animals we ever domesticated.) In other words, while a deer could probably take you in the straightaway, running you down on the long run is probably the one thing you _don't_ have to worry about with a deer. Hopefully this helps Connor's elaphophobia. (Oh, but a charging whitetail buck could absolutely f you up. And they're big enough to destroy your car if you hit one, which is a real problem in the northeastern US.) And yes, this does mean humans are the slasher movie villains of the animal kingdom.

Southeast Asian here! I believe the pouring drinks into plastic bags thing is done so that the glass bottles never leave the shop making them easier to collect/recycle afterwards. Also it's more practical if the shop has a 1 gallon drink, they can sell it in smaller amounts. Hope this makes sense. Also I know it's late but thought I might share for those who are curious.

Drinks in plastic bags though somewhat rare is in fact a thing here in México too, but most of the time you see this when people prepare a big container of flavored water so you don't really have a bottle to begin with. Their knowledge of UK weather is also deeply unsettling. The south is easier, sure. Go further north and you have more violent storms (this year alone had 8 in 3 weeks, causing more than 2 million trees to be ripped from the ground. Some places still look like a graveyard for trees), snowstorms/blizzards, bush fires (albeit small), tornados, waterspouts and severe flooding. Earthquakes do happen, but are not destructive since they're only 2.0-3.5 scales generally. It's just the UK is built well to withstand these. Instead of wooden houses, it's stone houses clustered together to stop the houses being blown away/into bits every year. Flood damage is in the billions of pounds per year, trillions if they're unlucky, but everyone knows the protocols for them, and can rebuild quite quickly. It's not that nothing happens, it's just they've adapted to most of it and know how to handle it. They just don't get the worst of the worst natural disasters like Japan. You also pray that this century does not contain a storm surge. Every few centuries it strikes, the last one being in the 1600's, and took a chunk out of Denmark and Netherlands. The most notable one disconnected Great Britain (the island) from the mainland, erasing Doggerland almost completely (think Jersey and Guernsey were part of the highest points), and creating the English Channel.

@@aoifemcneill3714 Yeah, but you just stay inside during bad storms, no big deal. I think you aren't realizing how much more severe the things you mention are in other countries. Water spouts aren't flattening whole towns. Trees getting knocked down by storms is pretty normal, as root systems for most species are very shallow. If the tree is rooted in soft marshy boggy soil, or on relatively smooth volcanic stone with only a thin layer of top soil, it won't have much to hold it upright during a storm.

For those interested, dust storms tend to have smaller particles than a sandstorm and tend to be made of things like dried out top soil instead of sand. Dust storms can result in cases of dust pneumonia and death by suffocation from mud in your lungs. By in large when reported in a weather alert the terms are fairly interchangeable, and tend to have the same threats as far as bodily harm.

The one about the bread and freezing it: a lot of people that I know in the Netherlands freezes it. It can quickly get moldy, and that’s a waste. It’s not wether you eat it quickly or not. I can’t really explain it properly though…. To give a scenario: when I used to live with my parents, my mother always put the bread in the freezer cause she told me it will quickly get moldy if you just leave it out. I always thought that was weird cause I always saw on tv and cartoons people just having those bread boxes on their kitchen counters and it being fine. Now that I live on my own I tried doing the thing of leaving the bread out of the freezer cause it would be quicker if I need to go to work. Let me tell you I quickly changed my ways 😂. (Side note: you can easily get cut bread here in supermarkets! So it’s easier to separate if you get it out from the freezer)

@@bigbrexitdad879 its not even about strength. They said it themselves but they’re just underestimating a humans capacity to think. Humans ain’t remarkably strong or special when it comes to brute force alone. It makes me roll my eyes everytime i hear it but yeah, humans quite literally are probably the deadliest actual animals considering we figured out how to put ourselves on top of the world 💀 Even the most dangerous animals with the highest human kill counts at least tend to kill things in the same kind of ways; but humans are insanely creative when it comes to the tenacity at which they can create multiple ways to destroy a person or thingy, whether it be physical or mental. Like i’m no war historian or expert but everytime i look into a lot of 100% real weapons that were created in times of war specifically with the purpose to hurt people, it spins my head around. Like some of these weapons or torture methods seem right out of comic book or something like Baki, not real things created by people in the real world. There are some truly insane weapons and tactics out there that far surpass things like rocket launchers, it’s something that bears could just never do in a million years, despite the fact that they are physically completely capable of ripping us apart

(Like simply just avoiding it if they see it all together) Humans are a bit different where they’re so simple and complex that it’s hard tonhuste anyone with the expectation that they’ll 100% act the same at all times. that's cool and all but I don't care, I'm not freezing no bread. what I don't understand is why not just keep it in the fridge. especially if you're buying store bread and not bakery fresh bread. heck I make my own bread and I leave it out for like 2 days and then put it in the fridge. and I hate toast, or at least using the toaster, I put butter and pan fry for. my toast (and I rarely eat toast). the only way I see this being appropriate is if you really barely eat bread and like toast. but I feel most people here saying this eat bread regularly or quick enough where putting it in the fridge is good. or am I just not getting full context? Cut in half, wrap one in a plasticbag and put it in the freezer. Defrost it slowly in a warm oven or over the course of few hours on a cookie rack on the kitchen counter. Easy as that. Yet I have to admit that my fiance and I DEMOLISH a sher ton of bread each week (we're keeping it in a breadbox throughout the week) sooooo... no chance the bread is getting bad 😅😂

I do think it’s kinda funny when Connor and Garnt start talking about how it’s warmer in Australia, and that’s why they put the bread in the freezer. I live in Norway, we have bread in the freezer all the time.

Putting bread in the freezer literally has no (noticeable) effect on the taste of the bread. If the bag is not airtight enough it might become dry more quickly but besides that, no effect. You would only do this with supermarket bread not with a fancy bakery loaf though

1:48:17 the drinks in plastic bags are very common in local stores in SEA because buying plastic cups, bags, and straws are excess cost. so they buy a bit more plastic bags and straws to save money. They also don't just give the bottle because if you return the glass soda bottle, they refill it and give a discount for the next bulk order i think

yes, This!! it speaks to the fact that SEA is indeed a 3rd world country. Plus you gotta remember the part where it was tie to a piece of string that you can then hang or hook somewhere, especially convenience if you live in a place where nail can just be hammer on to a post and voila! you got yourself a hook that you can hang pretty much anything. Not to mention that SEA are very much a bicycle/bike/motorcycle country. having those handle is pretty convenient to hang things especially drinks in a plastic bags.

I never put bread in the freezer myself, but i saw a few other familys do it, so it doesnt really surprise me. In germany, most supermarkets have bakery sections with bread-cutting machines. You can just put the loaf you want to buy in, close the door and a blade will cut it into the selected slice-size for you. really fun to watch and easy to use.

Usually, small south east asian stores resell the glass bottles and aluminum cans that they use for soda to supply stores, and junkyards. So they pour the soda into plastic bags so they can immediately resell the container. The stores are essentially making back some of the money they paid for the soda. It's not an environmental or practicality thing, it's more of a stonks thing.

I’ve had deer and bear experiences, lived in a place with both…deer will mess you up, but it’s not the antlers you have to worry about, or even the bucks. Bucks mostly keep to themselves but does do not give a damn, especially when they have fawns around. Their hooves will slice you to shreds. The bears around here are black bears, and while I’ll fully admit they will screw you up, I’d take my chances with the bear. Black bears are basically very big raccoons. They raid your trash and run off when you shout at them (unless they’re hurt sick or cornered but that’s on you) Grizzlies though…you’re dead.

01:25:56 na bro As a swede, at least in my family we've always put any packets of sliced bread too big to be consumed in a reasonable amount of time in the freezer. Now we usually put about half in the freezer instantly in one bag and the rest is left in its bag to be devoured, for the vast majority of bread, if you just squeeze the air out it tastes identical when thawed. The odd one will come out slightly soggy on the ends, but this does not matter at all if you're toasting it in any way.

About the soda in the bag, my family owns a small store that we've had since I was a child and, as far as I can remember, the bags are indeed clean (they're brand new, they're still rolled/folded up from the packaging) and we usually store it somewhere where it won't collect dust and stuff (like in jar). And, at least from the other stores I've been to, they do the same thing as well. We wouldn't risk getting our customers sick for a bag of refreshments lol Just a heads up ^^

I'm Greek and yeah, everyone who doesn't plan to consume their bread within 3 days they freeze it. My grandma would bake a lot of bread to last the month (think 10 loaves each time), and after the bread had cooled down she would keep a couple in the pantry and put the rest in the freezer. As a sidenote, sourdough freezes amazingly. Generally weightier breads freeze well, lighter breads don't. As a kid my family wouldn't freeze the bread though, because it tended to be consumed within the same day and we would buy a fresh half kilo everyday.
