This was such a lifesaver!! I am a self-taught sewer and have been sewing on and off for 10 years. I now have a 5 and 7 year old that constantly want me to "make" things for them. My daughter asked for a robe and I bought this pattern. I was confused and stuck at the pocket!!! I immediately googled for help and found this tutorial. I have already subscribed to your channel and will definitely be following! Thank you for your detailed, calm instructions!!! My daughter's robe turned out amazing thanks to you!!!!

This was awesome, thank you!! I have sewn for years but this pattern stumped me. My first thought was KZfaq although I laughingly thought, yeah there isn’t going to be a video on this pattern but I can surely find something helpful. I watched a few videos with different patterns that were no help whatsoever then I stumbled on this, WOOHOO! Not only was I able to complete my daughter’s robe but I learned a whole bunch of stuff! I have subscribed and plan to watch much more of you, thank you again!! Lisa K ❤️

Very good videos on this project! I learned how to do the tailor's tacks, thanks to you, as well as many nice finishing touches to seams and a technique for the front placket bottom and then the hem to follow. Wonderful camera work also! I love the sewing caddy! Must get one! My supplies are all over the house right now. ☺️ My next project might be a reversible or lined flannel robe. I have a vintage pattern McCall's 3738 and have used it to make long fleece robes, but I want a warm robe with a natural fabric so the double layer of flannel. I will preshrink the fabric first, of course. My pattern has a front edge placket all the way to hem, so a reversible robe has some issues. I might get a different pattern without that placket.

I ha a question about making the robe, I am currently making a robe for my son and he wanted a hood, so I bought a pattern with the hood option, I am wondering do I sew the hood unto the body of the fabric first or do I sew the facing unto the body and then the hood??? Thank you for your tutorial. Best tutorial I found on youtube on how to sew your own robe. I am looking forward to sewing my first robe. Your instructions are very easy to understand for beginners. Thank you for your lessons. I would like to know if your sewing technic can be used with other commercial patterns like for example, 1946 Simplicity pattern learns to sew. On my pattern, I am instructed to use interfacing since I am planning to purchase fleece fabric. I am not sure it is necessary. I also having trouble with keeping my seam line matching on the neck on the part that you stop at the center. How can I keep my seamline matching correctly once I stop at the center of the neckline. Any advise will greatly appreciate it. Thank you again.

OMGoodness! I seriously hate doing alterations. 😂😂😂 The only thing I can tell you is, just do it! Get your seam ripper, and remove the stitches from the side seams and take it in. Now that's if you only need to take it in from the sides. If you need to whole thing altered, I'm gonna say seed the help of someone with experienced in refashioning clothing. I want to learn how to refashion, but I haven't attempted it yet.

I've sewn before, but so long ago it's like starting over. It's amazing what little grand-daughters inspire me to do! One question. I'm using a pattern that has a self facing. Apparently I'm supposed to cut the pattern for the facing off the front and cut another piece. Should I cut it print side up, or print side down on the double fabric (folded with right side inside)? This pattern has no directions for cutting! None!
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Colleen. I’m not really clear on the question. That’s odd that there are no cutting layouts. Are you using a Burda pattern? If so, the cutting layout is actually on the pattern tissue.

Hi Pat! Thank you for joining my community. That storage unit is called a Tool Turnabout. It's actually a kitchen utensil organizer that I purchased from The Pampered Chef many years ago. Hi Marci! Yes, but some parts will need to be sewn on the machine, like attaching the collar because you have to pivot at the points. I would sew the main seams with the serger and the rest with the conventional machine. Hope that helps.

Hi Anita, love your tutorials and that you share your faith in the Lord. Do you have a pattern and tutorial for the beautiful blue dress you are wearing while making your robe? Greetings from Melbourne, Australia. 🦘🐨🦘

Thanks so much for your videos. I am brand new to sewing, so your step by step instructions are very helpful. I was wondering if you could do a video for a men's short sleeve shirt pattern, such as the Burda pattern # 6815. I would love to make a shirt for my son. Thank you for your consideration.

Pour une débutante comme moi, ce vidéo manque de clarté. Une version française aiderait.
