With me, when I saw Ashley for the first time, my thought was we have a white haired protagonist who isn't an impulsive time traveling half dog demon with a transforming sword, a reincarnation of his dead lover, and newly revived dead lover as an undead being in a video game instead of an anime?! Try to guess what anime I'm referring to.

The Another Code series is so underrated, I loved the first game on my DS, but all I ever hear people talk about is Hotel Dusk. Thank you for covering this and spreading the word!
@shoogles_5 жыл бұрын
I remember getting a loan of this off my mate back when the DS was young and really enjoying it. There's a mind-blowing puzzle in there that Zelda would later nick wholesale. Shame to hear about the American localisation because a huge part of it for me was the sort of muted, melancholy atmosphere. "White hair?? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Pipe doon
@bigshow59415 ай бұрын
I think the American localization catered it to the younger people. When I played it, I think those bad jokes helped calm me down. There's a lot of unintended creepiness about the game. The piano playing a room away implying someone is nearby really stuck with me. Also the fact that a ghost is floating around next to you kind of puts you on edge.
@ressljs4 ай бұрын
I had Trace Memory on the DS and just finish its update in recollections. I think the sensitivity readers must have gotten their hands on it. The remake is missing some of the darker elements of the story, leaving it feeling neutered. I still think it's an enjoyable game, but the remake really didn't do justice to the original.

I have Another Code in good memory. I played this game in the summer of 2005. It was the last summer I could spend with my father before he passed away. Another Code is also about letting go of the past and accepting our losses. An analogy I also see in my life.

Wow, these two games really take me back! I loved the first "Another Code" game. It was the game that truly sold me the Nintendo DS features for complex games, and some of its puzzles completely blew me away. I also have good memories of the sequel, albeit for totally different reasons that unfortunately I can't discuss here. But still, a really charming series I wish could have lasted longer. The same for "Hotel Dusk" and "The Last Window". Boy, I'm going to look forward for that one.
