Excellent video. Describes me almost exactly. As I've gotten older, I've come to grips with being comfortable alone more & more. I've tried so many things like doing music which I thought would help me connect with people but even that doesn't help. I'm married as well and my wife tends to drag me to out to social events or else I'd probably be at home or work 24/7. Even work can be a struggle... dealing with clients & co-workers feels the same as performing on a stage... or even worse. Anyways, I stumbled upon your channel since I recently got into collecting games. I had a few consoles growing up (NES, Genesis, Sega CD, N64, PS1, Xbox 360) but there's a ton of games i missed out on over the years that I'm trying to catch up on. But yeah! Keep up the good work and it's nice to hear someone articulate the experience of anxiety so well.

That's good to hear, that your trying to find your place in this crazy world. Its funny to me due to the fact that my family is just starting to understand somethings about me that they never did. I'm learning to break out side of some of my hangups but still I've come to grips that its just who I am. Like this weekend was my god son's birthday party. I was about to do the party thing for a few hours by after awhile I needed solitude. Its gives me time to unwind and recharge. I explained to my wife I'm able to conduct myself in a one on one conversation but 3 or more then you lose me. lol At work I prefer to work around quiet people. Cool thing is my boss respects that and allows me some space. I use to have really bad anxiety about taking phone calls. Had to calm my nerves on that. Glad you got a chance to watch.

great video man :) this video relates to allot of people. i suffer from social anxiety. i find it very hard to be in a room of lots of strangers. if i know the people i feel more comfortable. i have found over the years due to working in a retail work environment has helped me to find ways to relax myself. At work i must prefer to eat alone in my office than the staff room. your video relates to me allot. thanks for making this video man i'm sure it will touch many people :)

Oh god. Thanks for making this video because I suffer from anxiety even though I haven't been diagnosed, I do believe that I have Anxiety Disorder what with being heavily mentally abused and whatnot when I was younger. I completely agree, Anxiety literally like a lot of people talking to you at the same time. Whenever I get anxiety, I feel... cold? I guess that means I get goosebumps, but it's like my body temperature changes and I can feel my heart racing. Then my brain just sends me these SCARY thoughts with terrible scenarios that make me REALLY paranoid about something happening. And I can completely identify with doing something like having to pick a song for people to listen to, because having anxiety sends all of these thoughts to your mind and it makes you very afraid of what you're about to do because people judge way too quickly. And, I can completely understand that it's hard because there are these times where you just want to stay away from what scares you or strikes up that feeling because it makes you feel better. But here's another little reason as to why I have anxiety - When I was a kid, I would ask my siblings and mother a lot of questions, but they would refuse to answer them. And there would even be times where I I would ask them where we would be going some days, like to the store, and it would be somewhere that I didn't like/wasn't particularly interested in. And they would start to get mad at me if I didn't like what we were doing that day, and want to hit me. So I would become afraid that every time we would go out, they would get so mad that they would wanna hit me and slap me. I don't know if that makes sense, but it's hard to explain. Now, I do believe myself to be an introvert, not necessarily a loner, but in high school, I kind of.... pick and choose. If that makes sense. Like I believe myself to be a very loving, compassionate, liberal, open-minded, loyal, caring, and accepting person. But, I can't exactly show that to everyone because there are too many people that just judge you right off the bat. And like you said, it feels like... I have to perform or do something that people are gonna look at to alleviate me of anxiety or believing that people think bad of me. For example, I WANT to and like to talk to different people, it's that thing in the back of my mind that makes me feel like I have to be presentable or something. It's just like these racing thoughts and questions just rush through me. As an introvert, I love deep and meaningful conversations, but I cannot for the life of me, work in a big group, it's just too "hectic". I love to learn and to grow, but I'm not really an extrovert. I talk a lot and laugh a lot, but when people throw stuff at me and expect things from me, I lose my composure. But being an introvert, really has made me who I am because I "feed" off of being on the computer in my room, playing single-player video games, watching Netflix and whatnot. Which has kind of taught me that I'm fine going out alone. Like you said, I can go to the mall or go eat alone, whatever. That's because I know who I am, I don't need anyone to tell me otherwise, and I'm used to myself. And because I don't give a shit about what people think about my interests and things. But also, when I feel people look at me, I kind of feel like I have to hide myself and go away or whatever. I'm also an extremely talkative/mouthy & slightly egotistical person when you get to know me and I tend to laugh a lot that for some reason people can't understand good humor. And I'm a very sensitive and mushy person. I feel like those are some of my introvert traits because I have an appreciation for little things and I appreciate the things that I have. Also, it's not that I get exhausted of extrovert people, but there are times when I feel like... "Alright, I'm done. I'm gonna go play a game now" or just sit in my room and watch Netflix to have some time to myself. Anyway, I think that's all I had to say. But I really respect you for making this video because it's always good to open up. It allows us to connect more with each other. I don't want people to be "alone" in the mental issues that we have, and I hope that people who do have anxiety and whatnot do see this video or go see a counselor because it's very nice to have someone to relate to. And finally, just like you, even though I don't really say it, anxiety is something that I deal with almost daily but I have ways of coping with it. That said, I'm not perfect, no one is and I just want more people to know that it's okay to have anxiety/mental issues because there's all something wrong with us... WALLS OF TEXT ARE AWESOME!! D:

I've also suffered from anxiety for years! I've struggled to explain it to people before, but you managed to do it so well! I had a time in school where it really got too much! It was crazy! I didn't know what it was, didn't understand it, thought it was just me. I just didn't get how people functioned. I was always like "how do they do that?", "how do they not worry about all these things?". Only looking back and reading about it (once I've identified it) does it make more sense now. One way I did get stronger with it, as like a coping mechanism, was one day I thought "IF I was confident, how would I act?", and I sort of pretended to be more confident,.. like an act. It's kinda hard to explain. But pretending to be more confident brought me more out of my shell and over time it created real confidence. Anxiety still comes back now and then. Get hot, sweaty, throat closes right up so I can't talk, feel sick, dizzy, stuff like that, but it's a LOT more rare now. Not as bad as it was. Chewing gum also helps. It keeps rhythm and helps regulate breathing. Keeps the airflow going to help prevent the neck tensing and closing up. And the more I hear about other people like yourself who have gone through a similar thing, it also helps feel more "normal". Less alien. Another great video. Thanks :-)

Thanks for opening up. You're right about walking in confidence. Things in your life can be a state of mind. Simple as believing you'll pass a test. Not that preparation isn't important. Yeah gum does keep you in rhythm. It allows things to flow better.

Thanks for sharing this video man. I've been struggling with social anxiety myself for the past few years and I've been an introvert my whole life. It's good to know that there are other people out there that I can relate to. I've found that increased exposure to social situations has helped me to slowly become more comfortable around other people and I've also learned to be less critical of myself because I now realize that it's just part of who I am.

I feel you on the Anxiety- have it in my genes. My dad is completely anxiety driven and cancels a lot of plans with me and my family due to it. I just recently had my first big panic attack and have since had fear about having another attack like that in public or even on my own when I am more helpless, without people around. Anxiety is tough man.. It's so mental but also physical and can sometimes be affected by hunger, exhaustion, etc. Thanks for sharing bro. Always trying to control and maintain now mentally.

Man every week I feel like you and I are more and more alike. It's funny because I've actually been thinking about doing a video on this very topic. I'm also very very introverted and have a lot of anxiety/social anxiety/depression yada yada. It sucks having that trait living in such an extroverted world. I've always been like that and always been such a loner, never really fit in. I've come to realize that I do fine with a couple of people, especially if they're similar personality wise but when someone with a big, loud personality enters the room I shut down. And the bigger the personality, the more I crawl into my shell. Haha yeah I hate going to new places especially if I know it's going to be crowded with people.... it's exhausting just thinking about it. If I'm forced into a social gathering or party or something I tend to hide out in the bathroom =) that's my place of refuge lol. I truly enjoy my solitude more than anything (aside from my kids of course). I really do want to enjoy life, do things, see new places and everything but it seems that many of those things involve a large amount of people thus causing me to not want to do it for that very reason. I've ALWAYS heard people say that I'm a loner or I'm too quiet or I'm stuck up, etc.... it's irritating. That would be like me going to them and saying "boy, you're loud and obnoxious" or "jeez you never shut up." I don't think they realize that some, if not many, introverts are perhaps sensitive about it and saying things like that is like rubbing salt in an open wound. One thing that I really like about having my channel and doing my videos is that it's just me and the camera (and sometimes my daughter). At first it's awkward but after a while it's really easy and you can really let your personality shine. If I had to get in front of everyone and talk every week, man..... I would probably shut down and no one would want to watch haha. Anyway, sorry for the book man. This is just a topic that is very near and dear to me. Thank you for sharing and making this video buddy I really enjoyed it.

Excellent video mate. Took a lot of courage to talk about it. I don't really (I don't think so) have any anxiety issues .I can go to the cinema, (movies) a football game, a restaurant ,clubs or even to any conventions... be it comics or games, where there's a lot of people & never have any issues, but I do get moments when being around to many people for a long periods of time I do feel uneasy like a claustrophobic feeling. Even my wife tells me that I like being on my own at home in my on zone or going for long walks in the country where there's less people.

I think it is true what you say though as my girlfriend is more extroverted than me and that has help me to come out of my shell a hell of a lot more.
