Well, Donnie, if I were a walking ghost, I'd want to walk the old roads in God's Country of East Tennessee. RIP Betsy. Blessings to all.

My family told a lady-in-white ghost story when I was growing up. I come from southwestern Virginia, not too far from where your story takes place. I can remember coming home at night from my aunt and uncle's house in the holler, and those roads were so dark. Little one lane roads with forest on either side. I'd sit in the back of the car and hide under my coat just sure that the lady-in-white would show up any minute! Thank you for your story, Donnie. Hope you have a good weekend!

Wonderful story, Donnie. So glad the people tried to take care of her. There was a road that went past my former home, and curved sharply, then past a little cemetary where my parents and husband are buried. Sometimes at night, I have seen brief glimpses of people walking around that curve, but when I got close, they'd disappear. Others had seen them too. I was never afraid when I saw them, just wondered who they were and what they were looking for. Thank you for sharing your stories. ❤

Yes, even when I was young, if I drove at night on any dark country road, I'm always looking along the shoulders expecting something or someone like a ghost to appear before my eyes. Whenever I finally turn off those old dark roads at night, I can breathe a sign or relief that nothing ever appeared along those old dark empty side roads, well, may-be an occasional dear or some kind of wildlife. But it has been a number of years since I have driven along down the old dark roads. I never avoided the opportunity to do so again, because there hasn't been any reason for that. It can be like an itch on your back, but it's hard to reach in order to scratch the itch! Thank you for sharing your time and this very tragic story, but these things we need to know. I LOVE TENNESSEE, A job well done Donnie, until next time. REST IN PEACE-BETSY, you are loved! God bless! signed, Greg the Egg.

One has to wonder if a doctor from our time could've helped her so she didn't die so tragically, but truth be told, I've got friends I grew up with who can't stay in one place to save their lives! Fortunately they all found jobs suited to their preferred way of life so they're all happy! Blessings be to Betsey. I hope she's resting her feet in one of God's prettiest pastures! Hey Donnie, another great one as always!!! It’s that time of year. I love a good ole ghost story. At first I thought that the title said headless ghost instead of homeless ghost. My grandpa saw a headless ghost once when he was a kid. He was born and raised on an Indian reservation in Nova Scotia, Canada. When he was around 12 years old, he went for a walk one night with a full moon over his head. Since this was the 50s on a reservation, there weren’t any street lights, just the moon. At one point, about 50 to 60 feet in front of him, he saw the outline of a man wearing buckskin clothing with his head missing. My grandpa thought that he was seeing things, he readjusted his vision and looked away and back, and the figure was still there. After that he ran home. My grandpa had a few other ghost encounters in his youth on the reservation, but this one was the one that shook him up the most. Going back to the video, about the road that is off I-40 that goes to the Smokies. I’ve been to the Smokies around 8 times. I can confirm that the traffic can be bumper to bumper from the exit to Gatlinburg. It’s really bad at times, but it’s all worth it once to get to the mountains.

Great story, Donnie, albeit very sad--poor Betsy. I've talked to some elder people about the times 100 yrs ago and it was a big deal for a young girl to leave her home--people knew this back then! Could have been something traumatic, like abuse by a fam member/friend and she got fed up & left. _What ever it was that made her leave, it had to have been VERY serious, because leaving home back then could put a girls life in complete peril._ Especially considering she had no shelter to go to! Her spirit may still be around and not at peace...No one knows for certain how much she suffered...

Mornin' Mr Donnie...these mountains draw people and for us mountain folk ...it's home to me...I've said before I come from Tri state counties... Pennington Gap Va. There's a cemetery there ...my cousin and I had a very scary encounter when I was little...didn't have to tell me twice I never went back at night😮😮😮

Great ghost story Donnie! I guess it can't be considered a story since the gal really existed. Sad she died alone in a snow storm. I pray she's finally at rest. I hope you have a great weekend friend. God Bless and much love from Ohio. ❤🙏❤️

Very Interesting Mr Laws 👩 I enjoyed that 😢 these old folklore stories; each one has some grain of truth in it... Recently I was reading about " House Of The Rising Sun " 1964 song by The Animals: wiki says: " House of Rising Sun" was said to have been known by American miners in 1905. The oldest known recording of the song, under the title "Rising Sun Blues", is by Appalachian artists Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster, who recorded it on September 6, 1933.".. end of quote The origins of the song are from the appellachia; from: Scranton, Pennsylvania

Sad story she probably had a mental breakdown. I pray her soul is resting in peace. Thank you as always your stories are so amazing informative and even educational. We go to the Smoky Mountains 2-3x a year. My Happy Place 🥰. I think about these folks how they lived they walked these actual roads sonetimes it gets me emotional. I love love listening to your stories Donnie never letting them fade. Blessings to you and your family infinity. 🌟🙏🏼🕊️❣️
