Fantastic idea and I would order one today if it were in the $700- possibly $800 price range. At current prices though it just doesn't make sense to complete a new build using this upper. Hopefully prices can come down a bit as they catch on.

Love the idea of this system. I currently have a .50 Beowulf Upper that I ran on several different rifles, before I finally built a stand alone lower. Never had an issue… Would be an awesome option for a larger caliber precision build.

I just ordered mine in 300 blackout. I was thinking how cool it would be if someone made a upper in bolt action for a Ar 15 lower, I did a little research, called one of the guys who work there and soon I will be owning a near silent 300 blackout platform when shooting subsonic ammo and running a suppressor. I am super stoked. In an 8" barrel, with a LAW folder and a quick detach suppressor, I have what I would call an ultimate truck gun, even if I grab another 300 blackout upper for semi auto, I have a system I can choose from to be quick, or silent. I don't need, or want to buy another gun, having this sort of flexibility is what makes the AR 15 platform such a great way to go. Thanks Uintah.

Just FYI, I understand another good reason to convert to a bolt action upper is when using a suppressor, especially a direct impingement system, the gas blowback is negligible. Not only does this greatly limit the gas in the face, reduce, or eliminate, heating up the bolt carrier group, but also avoids the extremely large deposits associated with using the suppressor. Sometimes these deposits are so great that they limit the operation of the rifle. Yes, I wish I could afford one.

This is my next purchase period. I have been dreaming about this for years.

I see where your coming from on using your uppers, and West Desert Shooter has done a fine job with his performance with the 6.5 and .224 The problem I have was price, I know the old rule "you get what you pay for", and I feel you have a fine product, however I think your a lil high on the price scale. Perhaps someday your sales will increase enough, your overhead might drop, then you can make them more affordable for the common blue color working stiff.

Are you able to buy just the upper receiver and bolt system? Just so a personally preferred barrel can be used.

This makes absolutely perfect sense and I'm surprised this isn't more common. I'm constantly at awe in how much American bolt guns have fallen behind their European counter parts. Some European rifles are just as modular as the AR, can be operated without disturbing the sight picture, and can be as fast to run as a Lee-Enfield. Quick change barrels and takedown mechanisms are also standard on some models. Even on ARs these features often have short production runs. Suppressed shooting is another good reason to go for a bolt action, too. Some guys even pull the gas system out of standard uppers and plug the vent holes so they have a modular psuedo straight-pull that won't blow gas back at them. The only way to do that is buy an extra upper or sacrifice the one you have. So you might as well get a real bolt action upper that can be closed quietly. A good cock-on close, possibly straight-action, upper with the bolt handle placed in roughly the same position relative to the trigger as an old Lee-Enfield would be amazing. Especially if it had the reduced bolt throw of a Merkel Helix.

I bought your upper it went on my Central Missouri Machine Company lower. I bought it at closeout 249.95 dropped in better than a lot of others when i say drop in and snap the pins. I use a Mop with acetone to clean s.s. and I use original windex with Ammonia/ soak/acetone patch. The way I test is a copper solvent/patch/acetone patch thats it. This works with black powder in humid climates where when you see red finger prints when you get home from the renge

This works well for shtf or even a hunting situation. Have one gun with two separate uppers and one type of magazines is as close to ideal as you can get. Weight is less, interchangeably has increased, need to change magazine type/size is removed. Only real down sides I can see is increased wear on lower (so carry spare parts-still cheaper/ lighter because only one lower), initial cost is high yes but considering it’s potential application not so much. The real question becomes what full fledged AR-15 to start with (caliber size) which will allow for the best Semi Auto CQB/Mid range and then next larger/heavier/ more accurate cartridge to swap out to reach out to distance with increased coefficient and punch on targets?

I have a custom build AR-15 complete rifle that cost the same as your upper in 5.56mm Nato. I like the idea of a precision bolt action upper & would like one but, I hardly get the trigger time at the range to justify the purchase ( which chaps my Marine hide to no avail...☹)

I agree your a little high on the price point. I would payed 850$ for my Beowolf upper. But that comes with a gas system and the extra parts and labor of building that. Even a muzzle brake. That was all standardized stuff. If you guys came in Between 700-900. Depending on options I think you would probably make a lot more sales.

I built a straight pull bolt action with bolt on left side and it ejects from right as normal. Removed gas tube, turned gas block backwards. No lifting head for follow up shots. Great thing is reinstall gas tube and block, and I’m back to semi.

Can I make my AR 15 single shot like a bolt action by eliminating the gas port? I experience one time when my gas port was block by some kind of dirt that causes me to manually eject the spent case by the charging handle.

I have suggestion here: - Install a reciprocating charging handle onto your AR - Remove the gas tube and seal that vent hole on the barrel. - Lighter recoil spring maybe? Now you have converted your AR into a straight pull.

Why? Easy. Its weird. That makes it stand out and that is fun. It is also why I own a bolt action shotgun. It is TERRIBLE for skeet shooting, but my one and only shotgun is bolt action (and from Sears no less).

I like the idea of a "true" bolt action precision AR like the McMillan CS5 but the price is too high for me. when you consider the price of this upper is the same as a Ruger Precision or Savage Stealth you can see how someone might be hesitant.

So if you buy a stripped lower receiver that’s marked other and then put the bolt action on they can never say it was a semi automatic weapon nor can they confiscate it when they band so-called assault rifles . And your upper can’t be considered a rifle without a lower so they can’t touch that either.

Why with all the work in this Upper look like a brick on the top of the lower! I will prace a order but will ask to finish the upper so tha the uot side edges are tapered so that it looks Good. I cant believe I even have to ask for this. It shout look as good as it performs.

My question is “why would I pay more money for your upper receiver when all I have to do is buy or knockout the pin on the gas block disconnect the gas tube and reverse the gas block tighten it down and you have a Bolt Action AR15-10.” I prefer buying a new gas block then I can change them out at anytime bolt action or semi-automatic. just my opinion.
