I've been asked on more than one occasion, are cheap kayaks worth buying? And for years, I didn't think they were. So, to prove my theory, I tested one of my buddy's (‪@GrantKeysProperties‬) cheap fishing kayaks, and here's the conclusion I came to.

I have 3 kayaks, each has a different purpose. That little kayak is perfect for dragging up and down steep banks and over rocks in shallow rivers to get to places other people can't. My favorite smallmouth river is so shallow I can't use the other 2 kayaks there.

Yup, I agree each yak has its purpose! I’d love to own several kayaks for various reasons but that isn’t always possible!

@@KayakKid I see the comments that say they are cheap junk. I catch more fish per hour used in that little kayak than either of the others. If people are bothered by the fact they don't have an expensive name they have their priorities wrong. I purchased a well known brand and one of the most stable yaks on the market(75lbs), it paddles like a barge so try them out before buying if you can and make sure you can handle having to paddle like a crazy man when trying to get somewhere.

I say use what you can afford! I love my expensive kayaks but they're not always the best tool for everyone. I'd much rather see people enjoying the outdoors in cheap kayaks than sitting on the couch wishing they could go kayak fishing.

I bought my Tamarack Pro 103 from Wal-Mart for $400 3 yrs ago. I love it for what I do. It's light & It came with a comfortable, adjustable seat, 2 accessory tracks & 3 rod holders...1 a track mount. I don't stand in mine but have caught hundreds of fish. I have a fish finder & anchor trolley & bought a better paddle. I won't put a trolling motor on it cuz then I have to register it & pay money to the state. Cheap kayaks have their place but are definitely not a replacement for a nice pedal kayak for some applications.

Just got one for $100 at Walmart. It was on clearance, plus the handle on the front was broken, so they discounted it even more for us. Just took it to our local pond to try it out today. Loving it so far!

Nice video. I won't get one because I want something better. A beginner who takes short trips in the summer this is ok but I want something much better.

@@KayakKid most def 💯 just found a super unpressured local lake in my area that basically only kayak anglers can access, can’t wait to get out there, been looking for a place to launch without trespassing on state preserve property for months and last weekend I finally ran into a park ranger who showed me where the launch is
