QUESTION: Have you ever hurt yourself stretching? Which stretch was it?

Right after Supple Leopard came out I did my first couch stretch, and immediately after doing it I had a Baker's cyst which is only now tapering off after rolling for years. Also, I just did my first ever squat without needing a counterbalance. Yay

Heck yeah. Which stretch? ... almost all of them for the legs, back and hips. I stretch till I just barely feel it ... and I never feel the stretch where everyone says I'm supposed to ... any benefit lasts only a few minutes to a couple of hours ... then 2 weeks later I'm stiff, achy and limping around ... then I stop stretching and stop all activity except walking around. Stretching never makes me feel better ... it unfailingly makes me feel worse. Hope is the only reason I go back to it.

Your body may respond more to tissue work and/or strengthening as opposed to stretching. People need different combinations of massage, stretching and strengthening!

If my legs are kind of shaking during a stretch does that mean I am overstretching? And if I reduce the stretch will it still be as effective as if it would be if I go to my absolute limit? Doesnt it go faster if I reach my limit more than if I just go easy on it?

First time in my life i finally did the splits; unfortunately, I overstretched and i can't able to do the splits now.

did you force the split and overstretch? or did you just stretch too much? i am almost at the point of doing splits i just worry about that

Im suffering from back pain and inner thigh a year now because of overstretching every day I was able to do splits and I was near to do full contortion I was happy.but one day I injured my right legs and after 3 months I injured my lower back .now I can't do splits and I can't even do the simple bridge😭😭

How do you tell if you are overstretching and what should a normal stretch feel like? What I feel during a stretch is pretty much either nothing or some level of pain (not bad pain) or discomfort (again, not *bad* discomfort, I don’t think). I’m a dancer but only started recently so I don’t have a ton of experience stretching.

Thanks for letting me know, and for sharing your stretching experience! After a good stretch, one will feel less tensed, and more relaxed. When over stretching, the muscles will feel painful and tight. Hope this makes sense! Let me know!!

I was getting flexible but then I realized I was getting less flexible and I’m a dancer so I feel like I might be falling behind

Over two years of split training didnt get much resualts...now im tighter ever and think have scar tissu or knots....is sauna help ?

Hi! Interesting question. Sauna helps in a lot of ways, and mostly it helps in recovery. For tight muscles, the best recommendation are stretching and tissue work. Look into gotrom.com and check my splits program, or search on my Channel- stretching exercises. Let me know if that helps.

I've been trying to get my splits for seven months. I progressed a lot, but lately I've been experiencing a regression on my progress. Might it be because of overstretching? Thanks for your videos!
