curious question i have freedom mags, i do hoard receipts and might have them some where but in case i don't there any other way i can prove it? been wanting to take them to the range but people tend to get hostile and with the last guy getting arrested...😬 any chance we might get a freedom week 3 or 4.0? *edit* i mean come on am i suppose to keep all my receipts now in case CA bans or but restrictions on the 2A

I’m curious why you choose to go featureless versus something like ARMaglock or JT Hellfighter or Hogue Freedom Fighter? As an attorney do you question the legality of these fixed mag devices?

What about high capacity magazine that was bought before the ban? As in a 30 round magazine that was bought in the early 1990s? Are those legal?

Hypothetically, In CA I can legally own and buy a "10 round" Beowulf magazine, but what if some 5.56 end up in it? Nothing is physically modified, converted, or manufactured. Id like to hear your opinion, because I think this is a pretty big loophole.

@@whitestallion531 time and time again I see comments like yours and time and time again I have to repeat that what they went through is not repeated in today at 100%. They were PHYSICALLY being disarmed & forced to house the enemy, among other PHYSICAL violations. Where is that today, where, tell me; Show me just one link, article, video, etc. Where that has or is happening on a national scale. I'm not blind, I see what's going on, I know we are all being groomed for slavery, BUT SO WERE THE FOUNDING FATHERS and they still didn't do anything that you, and others that think the same, think they did. It took the things I mentioned above to happen, among others, to kick it off. So stop believing the Founding Fathers would say this and think that Bs. But yeah we get it: it is getting there and WILL get there unless we Nationally & Statewide hit the Emergency Stop button on this run away progressive government.

Liberals keep saying nobody needs a magazine that has a 30 or 50 round capacity. This year saw 6 million new gun owners due to the riots and pandemic. Homeowners and business owners are having to defend their homes and property from mobs of looters and rioters that number in the hundreds while the cops were stretched thin and unable to respond. Yeah, there is a legitimate reason for high capacity magazines.

It’s a really dumb law that just hurts law abiding citizens not criminals they’ll do whatever they want. Really makes it less convenient for us that’s the job of the current democrats make life more difficult for the every day citizen now you have to carry more mags to make up the loss of rds in the range and when a criminal breaks into your house and you’re out of 10rds we’ll you’re out of luck while the criminals got multi rds.

It's sad how many people don't know about the laws that affect them as well people who own firearms. They think "oh we're not after your guns only the ar-15" then they start a wide ban on "assault rifles" and "Title 1" firearms. I hate to break it those family members that being embarrassed is nothing compared to losing a freedom.

I believe they're all legal to own and use now due to freedom week. You cannot buy any more large cap mags after freedom week though. You can still use and own mags acquired prior to deadline date of freedom week :)

DO NOT however use a mag over 10 rounds in a fixed mag rifle. You'll run afoul of CA assault weapon laws.

If an out-of-stater like me visited California, can I bring with me my standard 15-round magazine with me? My reasoning that most California gun owners already possess magazines that takes more than 10 rounds because of the “freedom week”.

Me on the other hand, I have been doing this so long I maintain the mantra of “free men don’t ask for permission.” I’ve weighed the risks; I know them well. I acquired several high capacity magazines for my semi-auto rifles and handguns during the Freedom Week time period from multiple sources. In addition to saving the receipts, I saved the the invoices that came with the magazines when they were delivered and the credit card statement that documented the date of the sale and the merchant that made the sale. Further, I scanned and saved these documents in PDF format into two flash drives kept in different locations and I uploaded them to my private e-mail account as an attachment.

That was Pheng Yang. Not sure if he got his mags back, but his case was dropped and his arrest records were sealed and destroyed- as if nothing ever happened. Unfortunately he did go through about 6 months of expensive, legal hell. 😞

Kern County is the most pro 2nd Amendment County in California. Unloaded Open Carry is still legal. Don't do it though people will call the police and you will get detained questions will be asked, but they will let you go.

Question for a further follow up video: what are the legal requirements for a magazine that is limited to 10 rounds? Does pinning suffice? Does the base need to be epoxied or fused to the body? I've always wondered if the pinned magazines or the follower blockers are legal.

I've been wondering about this as well. Most handguns that you'd want to use have magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Are we allowed to use the magazine with only 10 rounds loaded or is it still illegal just because it COULD hold more?

Thank you for the great info! Understandably a lot of your videos recently discuss freedom week and title 1 topics. But there were periods (albeit a long time ago, where are you could legally purchase assault weapon style firearms in CA & then there was a period when you could legally purchase them as long as a bullet button installed. How is ownership of those firearms (purchase/dates evidenced through the DROS database) impacted or effected today along with the magazine question for those firearms?

In regards to importing from another state, the main issue is the border checks knowing whether the magazine was recently purchased. One way they do this is by the magazine still being in the packaging and the small date circle on the PMags. Sometimes people purchased these during the late march / early April freedom week of March 29, 2019 - April 5, 2019 and totally forgot to take them out of their travel bag, assuming it is not in the original packaging and there isnt a dated receipt floating around your vehicle.

wondering the same , range i go to is pretty calm...but when it comes freedom mags it gets...tense... a lot of leos tend to go shoot up there and they tend to harass people... i just want to know if i have to dig for the receipt if i still have it and carry it with me if i ever have my freedom mags on the range

@@markrayes2973 You should carry your receipt and the ruling by Judge Benitez if you plan on using them, there has been many instances of the magazines being confiscated by police and you want to prevent that from happening.

@deucedeuce22oz: That's true, of course, but the problem is that here in Commie-fornia we can actually be arrested for breaking ILLEGAL LAWS. Maybe I should have worded it differently. The issue is not whether normal capacity mags are LEGAL, but whether we can get into trouble with the commies for possessing and using them. Pleading the 2nd probably won't do you any good if the goons show up at the range!

Good video. I was under the impression that as long as you owned the magazines prior to Jan 2000, you are allowed to keep what you already own, under a grandfathered clause. Also I believe there is another clause that states that you are allowed to replace your "grandfathered magazines" should something like a catastrophic loss occur such as a home fire (you would be essentially replacing what you already owned legally). Can you clarify on this matter?

In Ca 1996 I registered my mini 14 tricked out with flash suppressor and pistol grip folding stock with the Ca DOJ as an assault rifle. My question is can I take this out to a range without being harassed by law enforcement. I have checked the DOJ website and it is listed as one of my registered assault rifles.

You get the added excitement of these laws being overturned sometimes and every once in awhile you have the opportunity to feel like a real American, briefly. It's a very up and down emotional state.

Magazines have a Date Stamp on them. As long as your Magazines have the freedom week or earlier your in the clear. 😉👍 Durring freedom week you could have bought used Magazines online and lost the recipe just an example. But a date stamp after freedom week can get you in big trouble.

0311Devil Dog ....During Freedom Week you could manufacture a 30rd. mag. and I would say, using a buffer wheel to clean surface of mags. would be legal- even if the dated circle was subject to removal

How does Comifornia deal with magazines that can hold ammunition that it isn't built for? EXAMPLE: .50 Beowulf. A 10 round mag can hold and feed (although not always as reliably) standard 5.56, but will do so with 16 of them. I've also seen SIG magazines for .40 S&W hold and feed 9mm where a 10 round .40 can hold 12 rounds of 9mm.

Thanks for the information! I have a question for you. Suppose I go shooting while traveling outside of California, and I take one of my legally-obtained Freedom Week magazines with me. When I return to California with that magazine that I already owned, does that count as "importation" and is therefore illegal?

@deucedeuce22oz So as much as I agree with you, what do you tell the working family man or woman once their in jail for possession of these items? What do you tell their kids who are wondering where their Daddy is? Are you gonna shoot it out with cops because you have 5-9 more rounds than we do? You have to be realistic. This is the law right now. The way CA plays 2A is illegal, yes. Its a game. Do something illegal like ban standard cap mags, wait for the lawsuits, drag them out , rinse and repeat. Such is the legal system. For the first time ever I will say its easier to move rather than wait. We're not forced to live here. Most of us have no choice as this is where our better paying jobs and careers are based. If it wasn't I'd be selling up and going to northern AZ. I'd really like to know, in general how you'd plan to fight this, other than by legal means or at the ballot box. Stay safe brother

He did once, it was called freedom week. I bought a lot of mags before it was stayed. It's being slowly heard in the 9th circuit now.

Collectibles For You the case that Benitez was a part of that gave us Freedom Week, Duncan v. Becerra, is awaiting a decision. In early April, the panel of 3 judges heard oral arguments for the case, and if you asked me, I think we’re going to win again. There is 1 Bill Clinton Appointee, 1 George W. Bush Appointee, and 1 Donald Trump Appointee; the Bush and Trump appointees seemed to be leaning towards striking down the ban based on their questions and skepticism towards the ban. Again, we’re waiting for a decision any day/week/month now, but now it’s just a waiting game.

Is there a limit on rifle magazines less than 10 for hunting. I know shotguns are only allowed 2 in the magazine for hunting. Having a hard time finding the rules for hunting rifles.

What about 20 rd mags but using -10 rd baseplate limiters (not riveted). Is it still legal? How about Hellfighters or KingPins? Are they legal as they do not get removed to open the action. THANKS :)

This is how the three appellate court judges panel of the Ninth Circuit individually decided on California’s Ban on High Capacity Magazines on Friday August 14, 2020: Judge Kenneth Kiyul Lee (appointed by President Donald Trump) ruled that California’s high capacity magazine ban is unconstitutional; Judge Consuelo María Callahan (appointed by President George W. Bush) ruled that California’s high capacity magazine ban is unconstitutional; Judge Barbara M. Lynn (appointed by President Bill Clinton) ruled that California’s high capacity magazine ban is constitutional. P.S.: President George W. Bush appointed San Diego Judge Roger T. Benitez who was the first to rule that California’s high capacity magazine ban is unconstitutional.

@deucedeuce22oz they won't ship 30 round magazines to these restricted states. You would need to modify a 10/30 mag or buy them out of state and illegally cross the border with 30 round mags and risk felony charges.

10/30 mags are legal. Either pinned or epoxied permanently. Not mag blocks. Those are in a legal grey area. And yes you can get them shipped from out of state. Legally. It is a non-issue honestly.

Has there been any cases of a legally acquired large capacity magazine, brought into another state, and then driven back into CA? And then that person being prosecuted? Example: I have a legal large capacity magazine in my ar 15, or handgun. I drive over to Nevada to visit a friend and I go hunting or shooting, I drive back. And a cop pulls me over and I get searched for whatever reason. Has this happened? Has someone been prosecuted with importing? Thanks! Great work btw.

i was under the understanding that one cannot purchase a high capacity magazine in California, but you can possess them, you don't have to destroy them or turn them into police, i was pulled over with 4 30 round mags for an AR, he did not ticket me for failing to stop at a stop sign and let me keep my mags

Someone needs to attack the definition of a 'high capacity' magazine, ie. PC 16740. It states, "with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds". It does NOT say *of the designated caliber*. Most ANY 'limited' magazine has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds! Put in a smaller caliber in the magazine and suddenly you are in possession of a 'high capacity' magazine! The definition is too vague for practical legal purposes. Why are none of these lawyers attacking the definition of PC 16740?

USCCA, tactical Tim! Good stuff... California is the most Unconstitutional state in the union. Rifles, shotguns, pistols, and Magazines. Are all super duper restricted. And constantly changing. It makes it very very dangerous to be a firearms owner in California. Things are in a state of flux at all times...
