Hi everyone!
Join us for a trip in our Winter Wonderland. Today we show you Norwegian winter at its best. A lot of snow, a lot of fun and beautiful scenery.

Who are we:
Scandinavians Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrison are highly regarded designers, textile artists and authors. They are best known for their craft books and their original, colourful and visually striking designs. Their work is highly influenced by their Scandinavian background and their everyday life in rural Norway. They work under their artist name ARNE & CARLOS, which they established in 2002.

Please consider taking regular photos of the lake and editing them together so we can see the lake change in the weather from winter to spring, I think that would be so beautiful!

I really enjoyed this! I've always loved that particular type of stillness/quiet that seems to be a feature of snowy days, especially when the wind disappears. I also loved watching Helmer frolick - he has a lesson to teach us about taking pleasure in the simple things. Thanks for sharing!

It is truly a winter wonderland. Stunning. Where I live we hardly even get any snow - so seeing you walking on a lake covered in ice and snow is amazing. The puppy is also having such a fun time. Love it.

Thank you for the lovely winter view of your home. We love to snowshoe in Fairbanks, too. However, it seems like at least once every time we're out, one of the dogs steps on the back of a snowshoe sending us tumbling! The other day I went down a steep hill (near our house) to help my grandson get his sled and I fell. Then, when I turned over to get up my snowshoes got caught under some trees and I couldn't do anything. Four year old grandson had to go ask grandpa to come help me get the snowshoes off! Oh, the hazards of getting old and playing with the little ones! Oh! We replaced our roof a few years ago. We had foam sprayed in and what a difference it made! The house is much warmer and no ice except by the woodstove pipe.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful perspective of your home from the lake. As a snowshoer that falls down quite a bit, I totally appreciated seeing that I am not the only one! It is so good to see Carlos feeling well enough to get out there and enjoy some exercise. Yes, we call that ice problem "ice dams" here in the US, when snow melts on the roof and refreezes on the eaves or in channels along dormers and other roof lines as it refreezes. Than you for sharing a beautiful day of snowshoeing out on your frozen lake. Here in northern Minnesota, our weather is exactly the same as yours!

Watching Helmer jump through the snow almost makes me want to cry. Dogs are too good for this world. And I love his beautiful tail! Many breeds of dogs get their tails bobbed in the US as a breed "standard" and I think its awful!

It’s illegal here in the UK to dock dogs tails unless they are a working dog. It has been for quite a few years now.

Docking has been illegal for over 30 yrs in Switzerland, so unnecessary and cruel (also ears). You cannot bring a docked dog into the country without a special certificate, medical reasons only.

i spent yesterday afternoon watching huge chunks of ice float along a river near here, and it felt like -40 with the heavy wind racing down the river. it is so much nicer to watch you walk around that beautiful landscape while i sip cappuccino from the comfort of my favorite sofa.

Feel refreshed after a walk with you, thank you for showing the landscape around where you live. It is spectacular, I really enjoyed seeing it in different seasons as well. I have actually never seen anyone using the snow shoes, I have enjoyed seeing you using them particularly as I know more about the story behind them. I am delighted to see how you have built a balanced life for yourselves, with work and relaxation too. I came across an older video of you showing the entrance to your house before you built the garbage palace. I had such a delight and share you enjoyment. What a breathtaking, wonderful walk across the lake. Your home is even lovelier than I expected for a renovated train station. I originally came from upstate NY where we had a great deal of snow in the winter, but now that I live in Virginia, I see very little snow. I remember how the air smelled after a big snow. I miss it sometimes. Thank you for sharing and letting us see just how playful Helmer is when he is outside. Have a good day.

Ohhh our dogs are so jealous. We only had 5 days of snow this year. And 5 days of ice skating. We couldn't get them to come inside anymore. They loved it sooo much. A week later it was spring +21C and now it is fall. Real dutch weater. I think they would love to trade places with Helmer and Freya🐾🐾. We have a lot of deer around, so they wouldn't be bored 😉. Thank you for taking us along on your walk. Looks very cold. Sitting here with tea and my sock knitting project in sunny Florida; 77 degrees F here. Helmer had a very good time. What a sweet boy! And mixed with some snow his coat was gray indeed.

I've loved all your videos but this one was so extra special. Best part was Helmer's utter joy while he was romping in the snow. But also seeing how snowshoes work. They always looks so ungainly but seeing them in action for the first time, I can understand the principle. Thanks for the cooling vision of deep snow. I live in the tropics so the coldest my house has ever been was +9C. I wore three layers of clothes that night. Ha. Thanks again for a beautiful video. Love from Australia. :-)

Here along the Upper Mississippi where Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin meet, the river is almost entirely thawed. Every day we are treated to dozens of eagles fishing and soaring, often perching on the trees in front of our windows. By next week, there will be fish heads all over our lawn thanks to these eagles. They only eat the good stuff. There's no way we could walk the frozen river as you are doing today! Aren't we lucky to live inside nature!

Love seeing Helmer frolic! I was intrigued by Carlos' comments about felting balls (oh are we going there again Arne 😉 ) in the last Sit & Knit, and I am felting some objects I've knitted. Would love to see a tutorial sometime about felting, maybe about different ideas for felting, outside of the usual slippers and bags.

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous with all of the snow. We haven't had a REAL snowfall in several years. We had about 8 inches one day but then the sleet/freezing rain came behind it. Within a day or 2 it was gone completely. Other than that we got about an inch or 2 that was gone right after the snow stopped a few times. I think snow is so gorgeous, I grew up in the 60's and 70's when we got a lot of it in New Jersey. Unfortunately with all of the roads around it doesn't stay pretty here. I truly envy you for living in such a gorgeous place. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Hugs from Northern Virginia.
